This has been a problem for a long time. IMHO the resolution to illegal immigration is employer sanctions. Donald J. Trump was the poster boy when he was caught using illegal workers on his job sites and was fined and had to make restitution.
I don't know this as a fact, but I bet most of the employers of illegals are Republican donors. At one time I was on the BALCA board, Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals, and also heard about 22 kinds of visa cases and virtually all the employers and lawyers had come from Republican sources. Trump Inc has been using temporary work visas to bring slavic workers to Trump properties to replace the locals.

Then came the round-ups of political dissidents, Jews & people who spoke out against the regime. Like in Germany of that era the government sent these people out of Germany to locations where they could institute the worst of the worst crimes against humanity. Are we not doing the exact same thing by rounding up people off the street, packing them into vans & shipping them off to El Salvador & now Libya where the worst things can be done to these "people" out of the sight of Americans? And since we are sending them to a foreign country we can claim that we have no right to interfere with how the "Prisoners/vermin/criminals" are treated. Nice work around isn't it?

Join the police and target a person with dark skin. Hispanics? Asians? It's been open season for targeting "different" since colonial times and it goes on today.

Even today, 9 states do not have exceptions for victims of rape or incest. And if the MAGAverse gets its way, women will return to being barefoot, pregnant, and 10 miles out of town.
And the there's the matter of war, the violent overthrow of governments, embargoes, the ongoing funding of genocide, getting in bed with theocracies, dictators and so on.
So no, we haven't strayed from our fundamental foundational values and basic human decency. Except on paper we never had them.

So let's work on the immediate problem of the horrible workings of the krasnov administration and then work on the bigger problem. Where to start? We need to individually examine our own individual biases and then work together to create a fair and equitable society. Pipe dream?
The terrible childhood of Drump has grown to the wound of Krasnov. Instead of him as a grown person healing his wounds to become a normal human being he has taken the path of monster towards the innocent to show off his amount of wrongness that was inflicted on him when he was unable to defend himself. The satanism of his condition only desires to expand towards the innocent that he was in the past. His path is to inflict cruelty in an effort of bridge the gap from his self imprisonment to a cry for love. He has lost his way and cannot find a way out and he has no desire to do so. Inflict pain is his only response. Persons such as this need to be kept by professionals to help him out of his self destructive behavior. Imprisonment for those not having done crimes worthy of such disproportional treatment is the same impulse of the Nazi. Due process use to be our way of not allowing and minimizing that impulse.
I continue to be stunned, shocked and saddened at the number of Americans who support this evil, immoral, corrupt administration. The cruelty is incomprehensible and the pleasure at inflicting emotional and physical pain evidenced by the cabinet members is sick. Sad times in America and the world.
