In the process, they fought with each other over who was the more superior, until only the English were left at the top of the heap of destroyed civilizations across the world. Why should anyone expect this inherent racism to somehow mutate out of their genes in the 419 years since the first colonists first arrived in Jamestown, VA?
What we're seeing now, is another wave of this genetic racism that is built in to these people who still think that because of their ancestry, they are the more superior ethnic race of any others on the planet. As if that will give them a leg up on the economic social ladder. But that's how the wealthiest have kept them all under control for centuries. Since the Romans figured it out during world conquering days. Convince a select group of people who look or spiritually believe a certain way that they're ethnically superior to those the ruling class want to keep in slavery status because the Romans knew that there would always be more slaves than those in the ruling class, and they wouldn't be able to handle another large scale slave revolt like the one Spartacus started. They learned from that and it's been the policy since, by those who want to rule the world. Convince certain ethnic groups that they are genetically superior and let them be the managers while the actual rulers keep getting rich by laying back and telling these managers what they want to happen.
They call them the Epstein class now, but they have had many names throughout the centuries. Trump is one of those upper level managers they've groomed for decades but he's starting to go off the reservation now and they don't like it. Unfortunately for them, like the Roman emperors of old, the barbarians are at the gates and Trump can't hold them back anymore.
The United States is mirroring the Roman empire on fast forward speed. The current emperor (Trump), is going to go the way of Nero and Caligula, maybe not in quite such a dramatic way they did (they were eventually eliminated), but still. He is going to go down in disgrace.
That downside, as one commentator says here, the United States will now need at least one or more generations of a democratic socialist style government (my words) if they ever want to regain their positive position in the eyes of the world again someday. I don't see that happening with the vast cultural differences creating such a gap between the people in this day and age.
