Thom makes a good point that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are not the foundational principles of Republicans. But i would submit that they are not without principles of their own, namely, force, fraud, and bribery.

TRump has not stopped his repression of freedom at our borders.....

MAGA Republicans know and enable their King of Peace in all his insanity. They see the corruption. They feel the economic effects. They absolutely hear the lies. Love him, hate us, or fear him, that's still their guy. They are sad sick excuses for humans. The decent Republicans have left the party and or TRump.

When we stand on the corner telling MAGA he is murdering people here, off the coast of South America, and bombing places, they still give us the finger and yell TRump. Just like their cult leader, they love adding insult to injury. See you in the streets---it is my life, my liberty, and my pursuit of happiness!

Republicans are the pro dictatorship, pro billionaire and pro death party. It's obvious, and easily stated, if Democrats could learn how to talk.

When Republicans and libertarians speak, one needs a Frank Luntz decoder ring.

Pro life does not mean "Pro Life", it means patriarch prerogative. Male Supremacy

Family values does not mean "family values", but pater familas (The pater familias was the male head of a household in ancient Roman society, possessing supreme legal authority (patria potestas) over his wife, children, slaves, and property. As the eldest living male, he controlled all family finances, acted as the sole legal representative, and was responsible for maintaining family traditions and religious rites.) source AI

States Rights means the right of the several states to enact laws that legalize pater familas, racism, Christian nationalism.

Libertarianism, does not mean freedom of the individual to live life as they choose, but to quote Thom "” they mean freedom from taxes and regulation so they can get richer and poison the world for profit while they systematically crush workers. They’re calling for an end to personal and corporate responsibility, but only for themselves.

When the Libertarian party first ran a candidate for president (David Koch) in 1980, I thought that Libertarianism was an expression of social liberty as well as economic liberty.

It took some time to disabuse me of that idea. Some Libertarians are social NAZIs, but economic libertines.

Incidentally the centrist or Never Trumper former Republicans, can't come to grips with the schism in their own ideology,

When Roger B. Taney wrote the Dred Scott decision, he relied in part on those words -- which are not part of the Constitution -- ironically to disinfranchise all Blacks, even those from Black slave holding familites..... Led to a civil war.

"Freedom" may really be another word for nothing left to lose....

The qualifiers for "all men" that Jeffy Boy left out? a. White; b. Christian.

The reason we cannot have universal healthcare, for example? . . . Blacks would get it.

The object of these recent arrivals, these cussed immigrants, e.g., Musk, Thiel, Ellison et al?

To create an old-timey Plantation Economy. To make your town Soweto, South Africa.

A place where designated types [races] of humans, those they love to call "wetbacks," "moon crickets" [see Epstein's files], or "obsolete farm equipment," or "Yids," or "Kikes" don't get a fair shake in a Christian, Whitenized America.

A place where they can bang and clit-Dracula-bite [Leon Black, are you listening?] kiddies and much worse. Do all of their perversion sans ramifications.

VOTE out the Senatorial Jekylls (DJT's brownosers) and Hydes (Behind his back: "I hate him. I hate him. I hate him.")

Neutralize Silicon Valley's mill/bill/trillionaire Monsters.

Enough of this hoisting oneself on one's own petard, this self-destruction, just to hurt the Browns and the Blacks.

It's irrational. So VOTE SMART for once.

Dear Sir, Do you perceive that the political climate has changed enough that a huge march on Washington could now be possible so that we the people might (safely) descend en masse and convince reluctant members of Congress how precarious their positions truly are?

Daniel Solomon's avatar

The model could be The Wizard of Oz.

Pressure Congressional Republicans. The Achilles heel could be Epstein.

G2's avatar

Maybe the Achilles penis?

Yes Clay, 28 March demonstrations in DC and elsewhere could I believe turn some heads.

Life if you are privileged to be morbidly rich, or its facsimile if you are in the MAGAtariat. Liberty the same. Happiness likewise, though that is a delusion. At 78, having read too much, having thought too much, having seen to much, I find them all illusory and disappointing. I am not sure I have ever experienced "happiness", or would know what it was if I did. Life has been almost entirely a burden, which I have carried as responsibly and dutifully as possible, expecting little and rarely being disappointed. Liberty I have had, except from illness, pain, disability, some fairly minor disappointments given my low expectations. My recently acquired religious faith convinces me life is largely a test; if it is a gift, it is a white elephant of one. I just hope when I meet my Maker I will get at least a "C" for my efforts.

I will keep fighting for others with better perspectives. My wife, our kids, our grandson, the good people out there not MAGA, and the poor misled MAGA people who deserve better. They think this life means something in itself, and so I will try to help. Because duty and responsibility I know and accept, not with any enthusiasm, but because it is right and as a Navy brat, it was hard-wired into me.

One thing Thom skipped over was MAGA Patriotism. It is a bit tangential, but germane to this post. If you recall, our fascist administration uses the term patriot and patriotism as synonymous with nationalism and support for Trump's fascism. Even the Federal Office of Personnel Management has issued decrees warning employees they are subject to separation for being unpatriotic - not doing whatever they are told, even if it is illegal.

Trump advocates for a "patriotic history" in education, aiming to counter what he terms "anti-American ideology" in institutions. In Red states, politicians are replacing university boards with MAGA toadies who will eliminate unpatriotic courses such as those having anything to do with minority freedoms or progressive thinking. They are also eliminating federal and state support for tuition assistance and scientific research. History textbooks must be revised to remove anything not pro-American, like our long history of racism. Opposing Christian Nationalism is also unpatriotic.

To Trump, patriots are draft dodgers like himself, who hug and kiss the US Flag. Basically, any action, speech, or writing that is critical of Trump's policies is unpatriotic and should be disciplined. That, of course, requires a national system of gulags to incarcerate and re-educate the unpatriotic (Democrats) using starvation and beatings. The Department of Homeland Security is progressing nicely in creating a Gestapo to apprehend non-patriots and send them to their new system of re-education gulags like Alligator Alcatraz.

Only lip service. In 1992, when I was involved with the "merit selection"process, many Republicans opposed veteran's preference in hiring.

Thanks again for describing the sad situation republican mercenaries have brought us to. The mentally ill and head mercenary reacted to the SCOTUS tariff decision by saying he could destroy countries and that he can do anything he wants. Imagine a semi truck driver after having his trailer loaded yelling out angrily to employees that he could run over anyone that got in his way. Maybe a rational manger overhearing this would prevent him from driving?

My freedom of speech is abridged by the Citizens United Supreme Court decision. It allows corporations to drown out my voice with the flood of money they donate to elected representatives.
