What if "we the people" determined that our government was in fact a corporation? Would it then be authorized to buy up all its rivals, strip them of their wealth, and saddle them with debt? That would turn the tables.
There is almost too much trauma here to read the whole article. The plantation and slavery mentality of greed and power and oppression has grooved so deeply into this country's psyche as to be a genetic abnormality - and again and again, over and over - has been voted for by Them the People to such an in-depth degree that any objections can be declared traitorous and onerous and punishable by cruel and unusual means. We the People have allowed this to happen by casual inattention and (at times) deliberate collusion in pursuit of the Almighty $ in the Land of Opportunity.
All made possible because campaigning is expensive, and money buys politics and politicians.
Money rules, look at us, all of us, we need food, clothing shelter, they cost money, We think we need toys and conveniences, these days we believe a cell phone is an absolute necessity,so much so that some municipalities, so I hear, even given them to the homeless. And what we won't do for money, especially if we have a habit, or accumulating enough to attain social power and prestige.
We all sell a part of ourselves, be it mind, body or labor.
What will be next? Will we be allowed to watch the obscenely rich buy and eat delicacies which none of us will be able to afford? The rich will enjoy our hunger, won't they?
Are you kidding? The rich already enjoy their lives as few of us can afford, and even though their appetites and greed are pulling us all down together, their suffering, compared to the not- so-well-off will be diminished and delayed
It is not too hard to realize that "Citizens United" gave life to America's oligarchy at the expense of our democracy. No, the Republicans and a hand-full of DINOs have no shame - nor integrity.
Fascist Republican Fiscal Responsibility: That’s A Joke
The national debt is now almost $40T(yes that’s a T) which is 120% of GDP(that’s not good) and it’s now laughable and completely hypocritical that the “conservative GOP” is the party of fiscal responsibility as they have claimed in the past. It was Bush in 2008. During his first term Cheeto increased the national debt by 25% and he’s at it again but this time even worse. WE the People as an electorate bought the lies that Cheeto…who wanted to stay out of jail…. and his fascist allies pushed during 2024.
What WE have is a second edition of spendthrift Cheeto and a “forever war” in Iran; expensive vanity projects; massive military and Gestapo spending for “domestic needs to combat terrorism” around ICE/deportation under the guise of national security; DOJ funding for “ego driven” judicial unjustified retribution and defending illegal executive orders. In the end the taxpayer is being defrauded by a psychopath who uses the federal government as his personal bank account.
Now JP Morgan has put out a policy paper saying that there are 2 threats to the economy, debt and de-population(bit.ly/4wqNVqL). The first is obvious from the above but the second is of concern due to Cheeto’s immigration policy. The national birth rate is 1.5 per couple and WE will soon run out of labor to meet the country’s needs. So it makes no sense to attack immigrant community with deportation when they are willing to do jobs that the white Christian Nationalist doesn’t want to do.
Capitalism has a God and the name of their God is Profit. Which is why rules and regulations are needed to keep Profit from filling the air and water with noxious outflow.
All the money in our elections means politicians need to serve their donors considerably more then their voters.
We are between a rock and a hard place at the moment and strong measures are needed to get out of it.
This is what we get for not having the common sense to fund our elections by, ''We The People''. The people we send to Wash. D.C. would have been working for us saps instead of warmongers and tax bandits who funded their elections. It would have proven to be our very best investment ever. It's too late now. 40 trillion in debt, 750 bases all over the world for no good reason. When was the last time we had to run to a bomb shelter under attack?
Thank you for mentioning cigarette science and how the pesticide lobby keeps toxicology researchers busy. On a happier note there was an album called Crime Pays with some classic salsa songs. Unfortunately the song Juanito Alimaña wasn’t on that album because it also applies. The songs aren’t glorifying crime, they are a commentary about it.
In 1971 fascist Nixon took the country off the gold standard ushering in a new era of wealth expansion enjoyed by the business interests of the wealthy people who run corporations. In a way taking the country off the gold standard was the beginning of deregulaton. Without it the economy could be freewheeling without governmental restraint.
Thom, this article is a wonderful composite defining today’s corporate power leading to corruption. Thanks. Greg

…and anyone who seeks to reverse the damage is a “radical”. If you don’t believe me, ask the DNC.

Thom, all of the above. For the destruction of our democracy, Thom! Corporations are not people! Ok!
