The real question - Why are there so few articles like this calling for impeachment?!

An article of impeachment is brought to the floor of the House of Representatives after the House Judiciary Committee investigates and approves the articles, which are then sent to the full House for consideration and a vote. The articles are then subject to debate by the full House, which can be structured by a resolution from the Rules Committee or a unanimous-consent agreement, before a simple majority vote on each article determines whether to impeach.

And who controls the Judiciary Committee, who controls the congress?

There is at least one pending. Al Green is the sponsor.

If he can get a discharge petition, can get a vote. But the real issue is whether Dems can hold hearings, call witnesses, as a predicate, to show even right wing Republicans how bad it is.

At least in theory Congressional Republicans would not want to implicate themselves in crimes.

When the House managers brought the 2 impeachment cases during # 45, they did not ask for permission to voir dire senators who might have been material witnesses and maybe even accomplices to Trump's "crimes and misdemeanors." It was possible that many of them were involved and if they had lawyers, the advice would be to take the 5th and recuse from voting to avoid dire consequences.

1. This is a variation on the Jerry Weiss scenario. https://jerryweiss.substack.com/

Hopefully we are a few days from the Trumpepstein vote. Check out the 2025 House Oversight Committee which include Chairman James Comer (R-KY), Nancy Mace, Marjory Taylor Greene who are signers of the discharge petition. Other Republicans: Eric Burlison (MO-7), Glenn Grothman (WI-6), Clay Higgins (LA-3),Pete Sessions (TX-17) and William Timmons (SC-4).

What if we try a little jufitsu? https://flareusa.cargo.site/

2. Re Putin. Several of the people who comment here frequently refer to Krasnov, Trump's alleged Russian persona. There is a lot of documentation to allege that 2 of the 3 Trump wives may/may not have been foreign agents.

Mueller had the goods on. Trump but he was a loyal Republican and possibly farblonget and did not proecute the case fully. Didn't even depose Trump. Biden failed to follow up on the case, let the statutes of limitations run although Manafort, Trump's campaign manager was convicetd.

Epstein apparently was a self promoter. From the Miami Herald:

Crime: Jeffrey’s journalists: Epstein emails reveal cozy relationship with two reporters

Reeling from a 2018 Miami Herald investigation about the sweetheart deal he had struck with federal prosecutors to settle claims he had sexually abused dozens of teenage girls, Jeffrey Epstein turned to a trusted confidant for advice: journalist Michael Wolff.

While Epstein’s friendships with billionaires, politicians and royalty have been well-documented, the newly released documents reveal the close relationship he appeared to enjoy with two journalists: Wolff and former New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr.

All roads lead to Putin....

It's a bit laughable to think that Epstein offered Putin and Lavrov help, so they could manage and manipulate TRump. Putin and TRump go way back. M. Gessen's book said all young Vladimir wanted was to be a spy. Now he is master of all the Russian spies. Pretty obvious he has mastered Donald too.

Everything you wrote is not only possible, it's probable. Just listen to Lev Parnas on his YouTube Channel called "Lev Remembers". He was born in Ukraine, worked for TRump, and went to prison because of him:

Americans believe what they want to believe. It was well-known that Trump openly expressed his admiration for ruthless strongman dictators early in his first term, if not before. He was openly racist with his full-page ad calling for the executions of the "Central Park five". He was known for cheating in business and on taxes and for bankruptcies and failed casinos. He hated the UN and trash talked NATO early on. Investigations should be conducted. The Epstein connections should be examined in every detail. But far too many Americans are oblivious to the death and destruction in Ukraine and Putin's grandiose delusions and ambitions. All they need to know with great certainty is that Trump is a pedophile and rapist. Unless that is established without question, MAGA will claim he is being set-up and persecuted by the "deep state". There is plenty of evidence that he is a pedophile and rapist and racist. We can only hope that media will follow the leads and keep it all front and center and that more people will stop denying the obvious. The DOJ will continue to cover up the truth. But hopefully they cannot stop the Epstein estate from spilling the real beans with graphic visual evidence exposed widely.

Dear Thom.

You are by far the most astute, honest, and plain spoken of all the commentators I have occasion to read. I can't spend as much time as I ought to in order be even marginally informed, but my work as a doctor, writer, and father of 3 children and husband of 1 woman (of 38 years) takes most of my time.

I hate to say this, but your brilliant analysis of this utterly dismal situation leaves out my primary reaction. Given the crimes, cover-ups, conspiracies, and swamps of lies we're dealing with, I'm afraid I've become so jaded i say to myself, "So what? His "base" will enable and excuse ANYTHING he does." I anticipate his engineering a monumental economic collapse that will dwarf all our previous crashes and depressions to serve as a smoke-screen to cover the evil doings Trump cooked up with Epstein and Putin. What is a humble citizen like me to do when even being armed with the truth in no more powerful than pissing in the wind to put out a forest fire?

Please advise.

Your friend,

Ned

Ned, Trump is not smart enough to engineer anything, shit does happen because he has to cater to his carnal desires.

Here is an axiom. A tree that outgrows the soil that anchors the ability of the soil that feeds it , tumbles and dies.

This is the fate that awaits us.

Trump is only an accelerant, he is the Round Up on the national vegetation.

Look at history, as technology advances the life span of empires and kingdom's collapse.

Those that live in the death throes of a civilization, an empire, don't notice the collapse, anymore than a man can watch his beard or garden grow.

Do you think the Romans and it's vassals saw the Empire collapsing around them.

Rome withdrew its legions from Britain, Gaul, Germania, Hispania to protect the center from the onslaught from the east. Do you think the Romanized celts of Gaul and Brittania knew that their civilization, their way of life, their lifestyle, their commerce, their safety and security had fallen? No they didn't. And we don't either.

The great experiment we live in, has had a remarkably short run, but people are never satisfied when they truly have agency, they fear, abhor, the unknown, certainty, up one day, down the next, they desperately seek stability, or what is sold as stability, even if it means forfeiting some agency.

I totally agree with Thom's take on Putin and Trump. Over decades, circumstantial evidence of a corrupt relationship between Putin and Trump has trickled out - starting with the "Pee tapes" conspiracy theory that Putin used a secret spy video of Trump getting a golden shower from some slut in a Moscow hotel room. How do people think Trump survived more than 4 bankruptcies? Where did the money come from - Russia? Where did the social media blitz against Trump political opponents come from? Russia? How about where the dark money to pay for TV adds to promote Trump's presidential aspirations came from? Why does Trump continue to support Russia while spending my tax dollars to keep the Ukraine War going? Maybe the answer lies with Epstein documents.

Thom - thank you for spelling out what should have been obvious to everyone from the jump. It is insane that people are in gross denial of the obvious. There have been other journalists who pointed out that Russia targeted Trump for manipulation in the 1980’s - because they saw his arrogance, egotism, immaturity and lust for power and $$ as perfect for becoming a Russian asset. Plus his wife, Ivana, had a father who already was connected to Russian intelligence. Our own intelligence agencies have known about Trump making many business deals with Russian oligarchs for years before he became president and they apparently ignored this information - or at least never alerted the American public that these were “problems”!

How, why, wtf?

Odds are that if the case against Trump gets too close, finally builds up to an inevitability, he will get the Shah treatment. Khomeini overthrew the Shah, he fled to Egypt. April 1980; Operation Eagle Claw, the aborted hostage rescue attempt, July of 1980 The Shah conveniently dies of cancer, probably would have lived to 100 if not overthrown.

1982 Reagan campaign strikes a deal with Khomeini, he will supply them arms in his war with Saddam (which America was also supporting) , if he holds the hostages until he is sworn in as president. January 20th, 1981 as soon as Reagan lifted his hand off the bible, Khomeini released the hostages.

I don't think Trump is really in charge, he is allowed to use the government as his toy box.

In the world money is power, he has a lot of money and a lot of power, but is still a two bit player, as long as he stays in his sandbox,he can play with his toys. And his sandbox is the Technate of America.

Look at this map Notice that it includes the three countries under threat by Trump. Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela. https://www.deviantart.com/grimbeans/art/Alt-World-Technate-The-World-Plan-760750706

"If Republicans have an ounce of integrity left they’ll not only sanction investigations that could lead to criminal prosecutions; they’ll convene impeachment proceedings." I agree, Thom.

Though I'm a person of no particular faith, I do believe in redemption for all - if we choose it in sincerity. There are of course broken human beings that this could never apply to. Mother nature is a mad scientist.

To my point: If Republicans have any ambition to redeem their party, themselves, and America's standing at home and abroad - today is the day. Do it now.

Life is rarely this or that. There's a lot of grey. But this moment is not ambiguous: Establishment politicians and power brokers must redeem themselves today - or find annihilation, tomorrow.
