According to reports based on NPR and union figures, the Trump administration fired nearly 100 immigration judges in 2025 alone. In addition to these terminations, over 100 judges in total were reported to have either been fired or voluntarily left, with over 200 total positions (including staff) affected by the end of 2025. He's been replacing them with his own people. I assume that some who remain are those right wing ideologues hired by GWB.
These judges were not members of the organizations I was president and/or chair. They have a union, affiliated with the IGFPTE. However, our organizations have filed a few amicus briefs on their behalf.
Ironically some of our former law clerks are in ICE management.
The IJ do not have the same "just cause" rights that our judges -- creatures of the Administrativer Proceduree Act - do.
