I mentioned before that I bought the book and am going to donate it to my local library.

But off topic, Trump is crowing about his trade deal with Xi, is not a deal, but beans for chips.

Xi admitted that the soy bean deal was seasonal. Here is why, When it is summer in the North Hemisphere (America and China) it is winter in the southern Hemisphere, South America.

China imports soy beans from North America during our growing season, which is summer, an from South America during their growing season which is our winter.

And for this, China gets access to the best computer chips, which of course make their way into Russian missiles, glide bombs and drones, not to mention China's own weapons.

alis's avatar

"The recent soybean deal with China is approximately \(12.2\) million metric tons less annually than what China purchased in the 2023-2024 marketing year, which is a lower baseline than in previous years."-AI Overview

They are supposed to step it up later, but it still will be less than usual. Once again, TRump creates a problem and then claims to have solved it.

Thanks for reminding us, William, that he is a traitor to us and the free world.

A check of Evergreen Indiana shows no copy of this title in a Hoosier library.

William Farrar's avatar

It was just release a couple of weeks ago. However a lot of books don't wind up in library's unless donated.

My publisher asked me to donate.

William, thanks great post. We need only to look@ the Tech CEO's who will sell out this country to enrich themselves, they have been and will continue to believe that Techno Fasicsts" should rule. Watch Jensen Huang CEO Nvidia, but their are many others.

For us serfs, it is about money, but for "them" it is about power and status.

Take Zuckerberg, I use him as an example for the rest.

A freaking dweeb, a nerd, that got ignored or ridiculed in school. He and some friends created Facebook in Harvard with $1,000 and soon got the attention of Peter Thiel (there he goes again) now that he has money and power, he is going macho man, paying a personal trainer, a nutritionist.. I am pretty sure they all are.

Here is what presents a conundrum... Peter Thiel is married to a man, as is Bessent, and I have suspicions about Vance

I see Thie'ls fingerprints all over the place, Paypal Mafia, Musk, Vance, Zucerberg.

There is a known business partnership between Ellison's company, Oracle, and Thiel's company, Palantirm they have a hared research interest and all of these tech fascists share a political agenda and are contributors to Trump.

A map of Technate America, a vision of the 1930's know as Technocray Movement

https://digital.library.cornell.edu/catalog/ss:34227574

Notice it includes Greenland, Canada (Trump's 51st state), and prophetically Venezuela, Colombia and Ecudador, which are the three countries which are being attacked by Trump.

Psychopaths, Criminals & the Morbidly Rich

TRump fits all three and this Administration is filled with them. These are the same people that would have been sitting in the best seats in the Colosseum.

"It came through legal loopholes identified by cynical attorneys and billionaires’ checkbooks, riding the algorithms of outrage and our insatiable hunger for spectacle. It came packaged as entertainment." Well said Thom Hartmann.

A good portion of the voters were bored when they voted for him, and many others fell for his hype about the economy. The economy president Obama left him. All will pay the price.

Stood in the wind and rain Saturday. Three MAGAs "burned rubber" to show us their disdain, a little dangerous when they swerve. The normal, kind people honked and waved. See you in the streets..

I still think we wuz robbed.

Their nature and the robbing also track.

BTW-There’s an ongoing grift by Private insurance big $miles to get people to sign up for Medicare Advantage. Love to grift that government money? Fill in the blank-_____corporation. It is not the workers, seniors and peps with disabilities. IMO stick with Medicare Original. Obama went with ACA instead of Government Regulated Public financed universal healthcare insurance coverage bc $lobbyist $miles for private insurance. Currently the evil regime of project 2025 is taking away subsidies for Obamacare and killing it. And Republicans are denying that they are destroying affordable healthcare insurance in the CR. How can the public not see this? Maybe it will sink in b4 the midterms…

How can we unstupid the United States?

Daniel Solomon's avatar

Some Medicare Advantage carriers are going under. UCare is entirely exiting the market for 2026, affecting about 158,000 enrollees in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Six carriers left the market entirely ahead of the 2025 plan year.

Large, national insurers like UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and CVS Health (Aetna) are reducing their plan offerings in specific counties and states. These reductions impact hundreds of thousands of members who must find new plans for the next enrollment period.

A significant number of hospitals and health systems across the U.S. have dropped or are dropping Medicare Advantage plans from their networks (going out-of-network) for 2025 and 2026. Reasons cited include low reimbursement rates, frequent denial of claims, and excessive prior authorization requirements from the MA plans, which create administrative burdens and financial strain on health systems.

David's avatar

Daniel, can you find a way to inform those who are now making decisions about what type of medicare supplement or advantage plan to choose. Medicare Advantage been a option only because many get the coverage for free or very low cost.Physicians have been protesting for yrs about the denial of claims, low reimbursement, need for dispute resolution and prior authorization. They were screwing everyone to get their stock price up with the help of Jim Cramer on CNBC. In fact CNBC had a "love affair" with United Health care because the stock did so well for so long. When Brian Thompson was killed in Dec 24,people familiar with the corruption @ United were celebrating.

There was some criticism of the celebration but the question should be asked." How long can to let Corporate America screw you until someone decides" Enough is Enough"

I can't give advice. I have Part B + Federal BC/BS.

I used to travel for work. Not all state plans are NOT the same.I had trouble when the California Medicare agency would not recognize Florida and vice versa. Same for Blue Cross.

I recommend all interested in SS and Medicare watch Ed Weir. https://www.mygovexpert.com/

When making the rules, they made sure individuals could not jump in and out the market or plans without consequences, penalties, or refusals. As usual, these corporations that claim they are "persons" do not want to be financially treated like the rest of us REAL people.

Getting sick and injured in this country is a nightmare, all because a minority without a plan and insurance companies are strangling the rest of us. Blow-back from TRump, the Republican Cult, and their Big Butt-ugly Bill for the rich is here. Thanks for the info, Daniel.

And rusty nail that he is, Fat Donnie waddled his wide ass inside the wound Vlad exposed.

Now the GOP and the Dems have lockjaw.

We are the medics. VOTE !!!

Thom - finished reading your book last week. Very insightful and right on. Keep up the great work. We just need people to understand the threat he is to our democracy. The part of the book on how the Republicans suppressed the vote in 2024 was so illuminating. It always perplexed me that Kamala lost all the swing states. Now I understand why

Our American democracy requires ALL of us. Felon 47 is putting ALL of us at risk for HIS personal gain. IMO Nothing is the same now or will be in the future for our government. We the People must forge a new path. IMO folllow Bernie Saunders plan. Throw out the old Democratic Party ways. Fight! Do not cave to MAGA! There are more of us then them.

No time left....

We killed about 65 people across 15 airstrikes on boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific so far, and the administration has told Congress that Trump “determined” that the operation counts as a formal armed conflict. On Saturday, the military killed three more men on a boat in the Caribbean.

The 1973 War Powers Resolution says that a president who unilaterally deploys U.S. forces into hostilities “shall terminate” the operation after 60 days if Congress has not authorized it by then. The 60 days expires Monday.

Trump is saying he'll cancel elections if we are at war.

People we need to convince re war powers act: Trump notified Congress about the first strike in his operation on Sept. 4, meaning the 60th day will arrive on Monday. That timing had raised the question of whether he would stop or, if not, how he would justify continuing the operation.

Will Thom come to DC?

I keep posting. According to Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) Trumpepstein may cause an "Epstein bomb" causing over 100 Republican members to "jailbreak" from Trump.

Much too negative an outlook for me. Although truthful in all instances, the belief there is the backing and fortitude behind this administration dismisses the speed of the downward slope of public approval in everything they are doing. EVERYTHING.

We are an immense country in both area and population. We cannot be ruled against our will. The “let them eat cake” moment has already happened, but we are too civilized now for the guillotine, so we must move in slower legal terms….but we ARE moving!!

These excerpts from your book are really great, thank you. You make a really important point about the Constitution not being self-perpetuating, it requires people of good faith. But, where are these people? JFK's quote about the "ignorance of one" is a huge part the challenge, today.

The Constitution was a good idea for times of a nation of 4 million. It was ambitious and proved contagious to the revolutions that followed with the same hunger for freedom. But, is it realistic given the political realities this nation faces? This week, I present the possibility that Trump's demolition of America might actually be good for democracy and freedom. mariochavez.substack.com/p/A-Case-for-Trump's-Demolition-of-America

As always, thank you for your great insight!
