Over the centuries there have been hundreds of people who were claimed by one group or another to be the Antichrist. Martin Luther, Muhammad, Bill Gates, various popes, Hitler, Stalin, FDR and on and on. Personally I don't believe you need angels or devils to blame for the things that we humans are quite capable of doing to one another. Still, this picture is interesting. Trump appears to be saying that he outranks the Pope and so cannot be criticized by the Vatican.

Actually the ideal solution would be for them to exchange jobs. Trump can wear fancy clothes, be surrounded by golden art, know he will be cheered by thousands, has a lifetime appointment and will always have a crowd who listens to him. For his part Leo has the compassion and experience to help the poor and marginalized people both in his home country and throughout the world. And he can speak in coherent sentences too.

Your comment gave this agnostic ambivert a chuckle. Great idea for us but a dreadful thing to do to my Catholic friends!

I'm glad I didn't need a numerologist to figure out that Trump is a very awful person, unworthy of being in the nation's highest office, incapable of leading the most powerful nation on Earth. His megalomania is a symptom of the disease that we spread around the world in the name of Jesus and democracy, but in reality, only serving oligarchic ambitions, aka, imperialism. Sorry, world--we have not been the tribunes of liberty we promised to be.

He is not even capable of being a contributing citizen in a reasonably just (if not imperfect) society, such as ours used to be. Instead of trying to destroy that society and government, he and the Republicans should be trying to improve it by governing intelligently...something that Republicans, since Eisenhower, have never learned, or been motivated, to do.

Why should we pay taxes to reward Drumpf and his Maga megamillionaires?

I am with-holding mine, temporarily till the antichrist is gone.

To hell with any penalties - i'll pay them when we have a real government.

Well, that was fun. Whether or not POSOTUS is the Antichrist, he’s certainly the Antidemocracy, Antiamerican for whom the Ten Commandments are a convenient menu, worshipped by Christian nationalists whose morals display a profound disdain for anything “holy”.

Trump is the definition of evil, but this report is getting too far into the religious weeds for me. The golden rule is pretty much the same in all the world's great religions and is simple to understand and easy to follow.

Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.

You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.

Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.

Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.

And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.

And you're calling Greenland poorly run?

Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.

"NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.

And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.

So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your f- ing mouth. Credit (borrowed from) Jim Scroggins - original author ✍️ unknown”.

Thanks Ari i think you covered our sad state of affairs very well. The ugly greed, income, wealth, disparity is truly sickening. We literally take from the poor and give to the rich.

Amen! Attaching a clip of "DoorDash Grandma" a ridiculous stunt by the Trump administration to promote how wealthy we are all getting from the 'no tax on tips' policy Trump promoted. What a joke! As many others pointed out what grandma really needs is universal health care so she doesn't have to take a delivery job at retirement to support her sick husband.

I'm no biblical scholar, but to me he is definitely antichristal, or whatever the word is.

Richard Kiefer's avatar

He's also anti-life, anti-justice, anti-compassion, etc, so anything that's good in this life for most (except the rich,) he's anti.

Sue Nethercott's avatar

Anti-goodness, in other words.

Or.....

Is Trump a garden variety disorganized psychopath?

Baby, he was born this way. Nothing special compared to Hitler, Genghis, Vlad, and many others including some that are currently with us---with him.

Considering his frontal cortex dementia is getting worse, WE need to stay grounded. Good and evil always make a better story than dark triad mental illnesses. Let's keep it real. At least as real as the damage he's done and any that is to come. See you in the streets.

Stephen King remade the movie “The Stand” to advise voters of the evil one. Why was the movie delayed until after the election?

Devil Don reminds me of Tom from "The Great Gatsby," but not as bright. And well past insane.

"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made."

This is all fascinating, but almost beside the point.

He needs to be removed for one very simple reason: his actions and decisions are clear evidence that the only American citizen being served is himself and the only reality that he experiences is "INSIDE" his own head. Every move is nothing but each impulse that appears in his demented mind!

"A poor player who struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more".

Time for the director of this farce give him the hook, close the show, and find a new script wit at least just a little substance

Reality check. Some Americans would rather have leadership that is a fantastical cartoon super hero. This AI slop is another "collectable" digital Trading card. I am so pleased he had push-back from religious communities. The Catholic Religion that I grew up in had prayer cards for sale. My mom was a devout Catholic and had many of Saints etc. The felon may have gotten away with a card depicting himself as "Saint don of Man a Lardo". Pray to him for wealth and power. The prosperity gospel type message Charismatic Christians have been preached every Sunday for YEARS! Instead I have heard, don is trying to depict himself as Jesus "Erasing Epstein's memory" IMO The memory of donny the pedo and sex trafficker. But I like your take on it Thom, political Biblical Antichrist. All the holy Dem's like Pelosi better get out of the way and clean up/vet the Dem Party and Candidates. Swalwell 's sexual misconduct/crime is a shock that I can not ignore! Pelosi was aware as I understand. So many enablers of the Epstein Class!!!

Anyone who claims to be a Christian and is MAGA is not a Christian, they wear Christianity like a costume.

I am curious about one thing. Catholicism is the largest of Christian religions in the US. And I know that within Catholicism there are rad trad Catholics, that even back when I was Catholic, thought the Pope was an antiPope. Do they still think that and what do they think of Trump depicted himself as a Christlike figure.

I don't have to think too hard, because for most religion is simply a cover for who they really are.

I've known a few Catholics that cobverted to Islam (strange that it is always Catholics) They are intelligent, and I know that they really don't believe the silly stuff in the Qu'ran, they converted for social-political reasons or because they married a Muslim woman.

A kufr man must convert to marry a Muslim female, but a Kufr woman does not have to convert to marry a Muslim man.

Not supposed to know this but...Muhammad married Safiyya bint Huyayy, a Jew from the Banu Nadir tribe, who later converted to Islam. As a wife of the Muhammad, considered a "Mother of the Believers". She was taken after the Battle of Khaybar, and she married the him around 628.

But heretics belive she converted him.

As for the Anti Pope movement, there was an internal dispute, 3 popes simultaeously were at war. The Avignon Papacy (1309–1377) was a period when seven successive popes, all French, resided in Avignon instead of Rome. While these seven are recognized as legitimate popes, the move led directly to the Western Schism (1378–1417), a 40-year crisis where rival claimants—now classified as antipopes—resided in Avignon in opposition to the popes in Rome.

When I was disability judge, occationally claimants wore Tony Alamo denim jackets to the hearings, created by the founder of the Alamo Christian Ministries. While not a literal Catholic antipope, Alamo was a cult leader whose radical, anti-Catholic teachings led a lot in Baghdad By the Sea to associate his name with religious extremism.

Whithin Catholicism at the time, there was over controversy of ecumenical teachings Pope John XXIII (reigned 1958–1963) that fundamentally shifted the Church's stance from isolation to active pursuit of Christian unity. His primary contribution was convening the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II) in 1962, which he intended as a "gentle invitation" to separated Christians....

In reaction there were Catholic groups who still used the Latin mass, still followed old customs, and rejected the Pope. One of my colleagues was a member. Catholic Anti Pope.

Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre (1905–1991) was the most prominent figure in the traditionalist Catholic resistance against the reforms of the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II). His opposition focused on the "liberalizing" teachings of the modern popes, eventually leading to his excommunication.

Pope John Paul II was shot and critically wounded in 1981, in St. Peter's Square by Mehmet Ali Ağca, a 23-year-old Turkish national.

Wikipedia

I don't know what happened to the all the Tony Alamo followers. My former colleague has passed away...
