The convergence of pro-Kremlin policy, tech giveaways to rivals, and rising domestic repression is a five-alarm warning that we ignore at our own peril…
Not to be argumentative, but I think this has all been made possible by the monumental betrayal of Chief Justice John Roberts and his Federalist fellows on the Supreme Court, aided by Mitch McConnell and an equally corrupt Republican Party. If democracy is to survive, our nation will need an epic decontamination.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has called on the U.S. to take bolder steps against Putin, stating that "Russia is the aggressor here".
Senator Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), Chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, has called Putin a "war criminal who should be in jail for life, if not executed".
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) has often called Putin a "thug" and a "war criminal" and pushed for Russia to be designated a state sponsor of terrorism.
Representative Mike Turner (R-Ohio), a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee, stated that "you can't be America First and pro-Russia, because Russia is a self-declared adversary of the United States".
Support for Strong Sanctions and Ukraine Aid: Many Republicans have advocated for "bone-crushing" sanctions and significant military aid to Ukraine, often criticizing the
Trump administration for a lack of urgency or for being too lenient with Putin.
Senator Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) argued it is "irrational" not to pass strong sanctions to send a clear message to Putin.
Some Republicans, such as Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), have expressed concern that recent peace negotiation efforts have risked treating Putin better than Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.
I am reminded of the TV series Brain Dead, starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Laurel
Laurel knows the U.S. governmental system has its issues, but when she starts her first job on Capitol Hill, she quickly learns things are much further gone than she realized. Washington, D.C., has been invaded by aliens that have come to Earth and are dining on the the brains of a growing number of Congressmen and staffers, bringing operations to a standstill, and it's up to her to figure out what exactly is going on and stop it.
Tulsi Gabbard is an obvious Russian Asset, much evidence that Trump is an asset code named Krasnov.
Other countries have come to recognize the fact, especially Denmark
The goal, and Trump is simply a vessel in this regard, is a Technate of America stretching from Greenland down to Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, which just so happens to be the three South American countries Trump is warring against.
Careful your antisemitism is showing. Couldn't be Israel because it is not contiguous and they don't celebrate Xmas, Nah, it is Canada, Trump has already proclaimed it the 51st state
Those of us who invest know that past is not prologue and at some point, with diplomacy, they might coome through.
Had I been the impeachment manager in Trump # 45 impeachment #2, I'd have called Mitch McConnel as a prosecution witness. If he denied that Trump was culpable I'd run this:
Provocation: McConnell explicitly stated on the Senate floor in January 2021 that the rioters "were provoked by the president and other powerful people".
Moral Responsibility: In February 2021, minutes after voting to acquit Trump, McConnell excoriated him, saying he was "morally responsible" for the attack, calling his actions a "disgraceful, disgraceful dereliction of duty".
Consequences of False Statements: McConnell argued that the Capitol assault "was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet earth".
Yet he (McConnell) was the most important pol in in influencing Republican senators to shed the Trump impeachment threat....he and Roberts (who administered the oath of voting bipartisanship - on the impeachment - that McC and Graham had already publicly broken.)
I totally Agree.....but I think country will need a giant enema to clean out the stench caused by tRUMP and his band of criminal cockroaches.......all of whom you've mentioned and more.
It has been said that trying to do the same thing and expecting a different result is insanity, and that's especially true with the same congressional configuration.....yet, it must be tried, because maybe the third time (it has been said) might turn out to be the charm.
Trump is clearly a puppet. Notwithstanding his denial when Clinton accused Trump of being a puppet of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump quickly interrupted her, repeating “No puppet. No puppet” and then countering with “You’re the puppet."
He is "Playing in our face." [not trying to hide the fact that he is Krasnov, Dr. No, and Goldfinger rolled into one exhaustingly evil moron of a spy.]
We are a client state. A vassal state. We are the dog being wagged by that pan-faced dickhead in the Kremlin. [pan, not pale, though there is that, too]
Where is Tail Gunner Joe* when we REALLY need him?
V-O-T-E !!! Before Putin makes Bubba's orally fixated boyfriend, aka Donald, disallow it.
* Joseph McCarthy was a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin (1947–1957), best known for leading anti-Communist investigations during the early Cold War, a period now called “McCarthyism."
The problem for Joe is that by then, many of the spies were already exposed. Joe was trying to dig up the info from empty ground. Donald Trump’s future mentor in sociopathy Roy Cohn was McCarthy’s right hand man, and his then close buddy G. David Schine received an all expenses paid trip courtesy of American taxpayers to travel around the world to inspect United States Information Agency for literature deemed to be leftist. Needless to say, their quest was in vain, but they did get to see much of the world.
Trump is definitely somebody's puppet because he is too dumb and too demented to think all of this up himself, much less organize and execute it.
It is reassuring that, like all fascists, our Führer has surrounded himself with incompetent airhead sychophants who have no management or leadership experience - with a few nasty exceptions like Darth Miller.
I hate it when our political enemies are referred to as "dumb:" If Trump and his cronies are so dumb, how come it's the rest of us who are in straightjackets? They are greedy and traitorous, but underestimating their intelligence is the worst thing we can do.
First, Trump is not my political enemy. He is an elected official who is screwing up my government and having a negative effect on the wealth and security of my countrymen. Second, Trump IS dumb. We have chatted 1 on 1. His intellect is unimpressive. Does a 10-year-old think it is possible to reduce the price of something by 1200%? Hardly. Did Trump consider that imposing global tariffs to improve US trade would not only reduce our global trade, but also alienate all our allies globally? Ask any teen taking Econ 101 in any college except Trump University. Tariffs are dumb. They lead to trade wars and cost you friends. They have never made any country rich for very long.
What Trump is is ruthless. He lies, cheats, and steals. In his view, everybody is either a sucker to be scammed or somebody who wants to get him to make a deal with them. What a miserable worldview. BTW, that also is why most billionaires have serial spouses, take drugs, and have no friends - they have to dominate everyone.
Feeling superior to everybody around you does not lead to happiness. You might be confusing smart with rich and rich with happiness. It is a widely-held notion in capitalist economies that the richer you are, the smarter you are. As a child, I sometimes heard on the playground when kids were arguing, "Oh yeah? Well, if you're so smart, how come you're not rich?" In adulthood, the inverse is often true; "If you're so rich (or smart), how come you're not happy?"
People who want to govern surround themselves with experts to help identify the possible unintended negative consequences of their programs and policies. People like Trump, who only want to rule, surround themselves with sycophants who do not dare to question their Führer. Historically, the negative consequences accumulate and that triggers their being overthrown, just like Mussolini and Hitler.
Yes, the Drumpster & his pathetically unqualified cabinet are clearly hell bent on destroying our country as a democratic republic! He is the guilty of sedition many times over, and should be adjudicated and held accountable for loss of thousands! It's time to take the gloves off and end this monster’s reign of terror upon us and the free world - We, the People, must stand up, speak out, and unite in order to drive him & his evil regime out of office, and our lives forever!
ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, NYT, WaPo are all telling the facts and the events. What they cannot do is claim they know the end game. They are giving you the WHAT.
If you want to know the WHY, that's up to us. Independent media members are finally getting there. YouTube channels for IHIP News and Secular Talk are good place to begin. They have put together the TRump, Putin, TechBros picture. Meidas Touch Network for the politics and legal battles is the best.
Will the Republicans help Democrats stop this or will they allow Trump to become a dictator? I can’t imagine how they think that would be good for their children and grandchildren!
Racism is a core tenet of the political Right, along with making the world safe for corporate plunder. Europe being considered a continent, separated from Asia only by a line of low mountains, has more to do with race than physical barriers, like oceans. Why is Whiteness so much more important to Trump than rightness--democratic principles, human rights?
Of course it is! I mentioned that a lomg time ago. Impeach! High treason. Dump the fucker on some remote island with all his bitcoin wealth but no internet or satphone. Or bedlam lunatic asylum!
Authoritarians often conspire with other authoritarians against their own people. The Soviet Union had an authoritarian political component under communism but a socialist economic component. Russia under Putin has discarded the socialist economic component but kept the authoritarian political component.
The authoritarian Republicans never objected to the authoritarian political component of the Soviet system, only the socialist economic component. It was only a matter of time before authoritarian Republican politicians allied with the authoritarians in Russia.
Unfortunately this authoritarian alliance is part of a worldwide web of authoritarianism and comes at a time of unparalleled wealth inequality and anthropogenic climate change instability, both of which are going to destabilize societies around the globe.
Certainly feels as if they are ramping it ALL up - Project 2025 in concert with the "tech bros" and the putin assets are now moving at an accelerated pace, perhaps as they can feel the walls closing in? Or the sundowning of their puppet in chief? While always at breakneck speed, it's coming faster, and more furious. No doubt in my mind, the actions towards declaring war with Venezuela are to serve many purposes, including creating an environment "to gut civil rights in America and imprison the people he sees as his 'threats' or political enemies." Yesterday's DOJ Memo made that very clear.
The guardrails we were able to fall back on during tRump 1.0 were all removed early on in preparation for exactly what we are seeing today.
It's all getting worse, by the day, and will continue to get even worse without some serious pushback from the media and persons in Congress, and that is not happening. We have but a few that are actually speaking out, sounding the alarms - such as Sen. Chris Murphy. It's not nearly enough.
Thank you again, Thom, for making this five alarm fire crystal clear. You are a treasure.
This looks like the division of the world as envisioned by Orwell in "1984". Russia gets a free hand in Europe, China in Taiwan at least, and the U.S. in Latin America. And everybody loots Africa, as discussed in the December 1st "New Yorker" article on the endless Congo wars, "Dangerous Neighbors".
Of course it's not an exact match to what was predicted--for example, India has its own power center (in competition with China throughout the Indian Ocean). But we're definitely going back to an imperialistic 19th century world with big power "spheres of influence". Trump is entirely about transactions, not ideals. (Oh, and take a look at his image on the "Gold Card" that he wants to sell to the richest people who desire U.S. residency. It's pretty sick.)
Exactly doc. I've laughed at and debunked prophecies, but have to admit that George Orwell as prophetic, just off in his time line.
Oceania is the Technate of Americahttps://digital.library.cornell.edu/catalog/ss:34227574
Eurasia is Europe, Russia , west and mid Asia under Russian control, East Asia is allof east Asia and the Western Pacific.
The Mid East and North Africa belong to the Muslijms, who can fight over it, and the global south will be fought over by all to exploit for natural resources.
I am not describing the future, I am describing the present.
Hadn’t thought about the Islamic world, but it is so fragmented by sects and ethnic groups that I expect different parts will go with the various big power blocks. That Technate is interesting, though it is hard to see most Americans accepting such overt control. Maybe something closer to the original (1975) “Rollerball” in which big corporations control various territories might be more likely. After all, that has long been the situation in the so-called “Banana Republics” which actually exist in many parts of the Third World. Incidentally another look at the future was Heinlein’s excellent novella, “If This Goes On—“, which imagines a Christian fascist America isolated from the world. The details, down to the slang, are excellent. And terrifying.
The thing about Islam, is that they may quarrel among themselves, palace politics,But when the world wide community of Muslims, the Ummah, is threatened they circle the wagons.
For instance the squabble between Shia and Sunnis is not doctrinaire, it is political, it is about who was the successor to Muhammad, his sunnah (followers) or his cousin and first student (Talib)
Envision control as follows, A central point of power, and under it satrapies.
Persia, at one time, controlled most of the know world, via satraps, Rome did the same via governors or praetors,.
In America we have states, each with it's own governor and political structure.
The Trump administration has even brought the Mexican government to heel.
Panama is not, in reality, a sovereign country, it is a creation of the Edge act.
The Bank of Panama is a branch of Citicgroup. The currency of Panama is called the Balboa, but it's printed currency is the US Dollar, and it's coinage is minted in the Philadelphia mint, of the same stock as U S co8hage, differing only in design of obverse and reverse.
When I came back to the states, I had tens of dollars worth of Balboa's and got rid of them easily in vending machines, the machines didn't know the difference.
The technate is about control, not adding stars to the flag, except they want to add a 51st (Canada)
Heinlein, another prophet. I never read the book, and too late to do it.
Sadly, I never heard of him. While everyone was reading fiction. I was reading non fiction. I stopped reading fiction, mainly the classics, when I was 16.
Of course, Krasnov is a traitor to America it is what he was assigned to do by Putin and his other Putin puppies in Congress. Nothing surprising about it. His MAGA supporters have no idea that his hatred of his otherings is merely a cover for his attachment to dictators around the world. The brainwashing Fox has done is clearly hatred for everything America same as his father hating American soldiers in Austrailia during WWII.
The more TRump calls our Russia Russia Russia assessment of his betrayal of the United States a hoax, the more we know it is true. That's how it works with a psychopath that is trying to gas-light a whole nation.
The independent media is just beginning to "get" it. The world is to be carved-up into spheres of influence with technology as means to do it. That's exactly what the chips to China is about.
Thom has the plot figured out. IHIP, Meidas Touch, and Secular Talk on their YouTube channels have it as well. World War III is being fought within our borders. Same holds true for the Europeans. The TechBros, TRump, and Putin are crazy, literally. We are going to stop them if we can define the plot. Thanks Thom. See you in the streets.
Many of the talking heads in "liberal media" failed to call out the Krasnov/Putin story...and many still do.
As I keep sayin', we need to contuinually press Congressional Republicans on this issue.
I don't agree with Rick Scott on much, but he sent me an email acknowledging that Putin is evil personified.....
We watch stuff like British TV, where they discuss western Europe possibly sanctioning both Trump and Putin. I've never seen anything about it in our media.
Thank you for blasting the terrifying contents of this NSS report! Usually it is published with pride and a great deal of fanfare. This year it was it was insidiously quiet.
I do feel however that people ARE waking up as demonstrated by recent Dems' wins and Congress is finding a pulse. How could these so called lawmakers stand there silently shivering in their boots while our country declines and decays with the help of the Supreme Court. No job is worth this. My question is, is it too late for Congress to grow a spine....
Without a doubt!!! The question then is "who will hold him accountable for his betrayal". We can all be sure it will not be Merrick Garland who by and large took a pass on the "big fish" being satisfied with the "minnows". His betrayal is on a par with the "Creatures"!

Some Republicans, such as Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.), have expressed concern that recent peace negotiation efforts have risked treating Putin better than Ukrainian President Zelenskyy.
So what? Some of these same people called trump worse things and then flip flopped to lick his behind....
In fact, very few Republicans have not.
And yet there is no movement. Why is that?
I am reminded of the TV series Brain Dead, starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Laurel
Laurel knows the U.S. governmental system has its issues, but when she starts her first job on Capitol Hill, she quickly learns things are much further gone than she realized. See map here: https://digital.library.cornell.edu/catalog/ss:34227574, and scary part this is not a new map, it is the Technocracy Movement, founded in the 1930's
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technocracy_movement
The map could have been easily dismissed as a pipe dream, but not in light of recent events
Incidentally the White House put up 51 Xmas trees, one for every state (Canada?)
Or Israel?
Careful your antisemitism is showing. Couldn't be Israel because it is not contiguous and they don't celebrate Xmas, Nah, it is Canada, Trump has already proclaimed it the 51st state
How have they voted?
Those of us who invest know that past is not prologue and at some point, with diplomacy, they might coome through.
Had I been the impeachment manager in Trump # 45 impeachment #2, I'd have called Mitch McConnel as a prosecution witness. If he denied that Trump was culpable I'd run this:

Provocation: McConnell explicitly stated on the Senate floor in January 2021 that the rioters "were provoked by the president and other powerful people".

Yet he (McConnell) was the most important pol in in influencing Republican senators to shed the Trump impeachment threat....he and Roberts (who administered the oath of voting bipartisanship - on the impeachment - that McC and Graham had already publicly broken.)
The impeachment managers were incompetent.
I totally Agree.....but I think country will need a giant enema to clean out the stench caused by tRUMP and his band of criminal cockroaches.......all of whom you've mentioned and more.
Thom: Is Trump’s Embrace of Russia the Greatest Betrayal in American History?
Ans. I think so. The issue for me is where are the Congressional Republican Cold Warriors?
We should have put pressure on them.
Where? Colluding in order to get rich.
Where are they now? Silent because they KNOW they sold our country out, and they will not admit they were wrong or try to make things right.
Worst of all by now, they absolutely have proof of how stupid and corrupt TRump and his Administration are.
I'd like to think that hope springs eternal. We have to pressure them/convince them.
I laid out how I would have handled the Trump impeachment # 2.
Getting to two-thirds in the Senate is a very tall order, but not trying is immoral.
#3 is coming and he is dreading it. The hard part for Congress will be how long the list of high crimes actually are.
First hold hearings in the House...make a record.
Co-conspirators should not be permitted to vote. I'ver laid this out many times...
But that would include almost all Republican leaders.
It has been said that trying to do the same thing and expecting a different result is insanity, and that's especially true with the same congressional configuration.....yet, it must be tried, because maybe the third time (it has been said) might turn out to be the charm.

So I will take your word.
The original was a great movie.
So was Philip K Dick.
"They" have lost the plot.....
I dunna know about the "independent media."
A vile mixture of flattery and vague promises of "a deal" are all it takes to set the hook. Putin, MBS, Kim....
