In 1910 President Theodore Roosevelt addressed an audience at the Sorbonne in Paris as signs of a world war was looming. His topic was The Role of a Citizen in a Republic. Among many wise things (one would do well to read the complete speech) he said:
"But if a man's efficiency is not guided and regulated by a moral sense, then the more efficient he is the worse he is, the more dangerous to the body politic. Courage, intellect, all the masterful qualities, serve but to make a man more evil if they are used merely for that man's own advancement, with brutal indifference to the rights of others. It speaks ill for the community if the community worships these qualities and treats their possessors as heroes regardless of whether the qualities are used rightly or wrongly. It makes no difference as to the precise way in which this sinister efficiency is shown. It makes no difference whether such a man's force and ability betray themselves in the career of money-maker or politician, soldier or orator, journalist or popular leader. If the man works for evil, then the more successful he is the more he should be despised and condemned by all upright and farseeing men. To judge a man merely by success is an abhorrent wrong; and if the people at large habitually so judge men, if they grow to condone wickedness because the wicked man triumphs, they show their inability to understand that in the last analysis free institutions rest upon the character of citizenship, and that by such admiration of evil they prove themselves unfit for liberty."

We committed mass murder on the basis of race in the Philippines. Theodore Roosevelt held explicit beliefs in the racial superiority of Americans (whom he often described in terms of "Teutonic" or "Anglo-Saxon" dominance) over Filipinos, whom he considered to be "as a race and in the mass altogether inferior to whites". These views heavily influenced his support for the U.S. annexation and colonization of the Philippines.
Balangiga Massacre Retaliation (1901)
The incident at Balangiga occurred in September 1901 when Filipino villagers launched a surprise attack on an occupying U.S. Army unit on the island of Samar, killing 48 American soldiers. Theodore Roosevelt had recently become president after William McKinley's assassination.
In response, U.S. Brigadier General Jacob H. Smith was ordered to pacify the island. Smith issued an infamous order to turn Samar into a "howling wilderness," instructing his troops to kill every male older than ten years old. American troops carried out a brutal scorched-earth campaign, burning villages, destroying food supplies, and killing civilians.
Estimates of Filipino deaths during this campaign vary widely, with some sources citing around 2,000 to 2,500 civilians killed, while some Filipino historians estimate the number as high as 50,000. General Smith was later court-martialed for his conduct, but only for "conduct to the prejudice of good order and military discipline," and he received only an admonishment and was forced to retire.
Moro Crater (Bud Dajo) Massacre (1906)
The First Battle of Bud Dajo occurred in March 1906, several years after Roosevelt declared the main Philippine-American War officially over in 1902. U.S. forces under the command of Major General Leonard Wood (a close friend of Roosevelt) attacked a group of approximately 600 to 1,000 Tausug Moros, including women and children, who had taken refuge on top of an extinct volcano on the island of Jolo.
The U.S. military operation resulted in the deaths of almost all the Moros present, with only a handful of survivors. U.S. casualties were minimal. President Roosevelt initially praised the action as a "brilliant feat of arms" but faced significant criticism from anti-imperialists, including Mark Twain and W.E.B. Du Bois, over the high civilian death toll. The administration downplayed the civilian casualties and successfully managed to bury the story from the historical record for many years.
Core Beliefs and Statements
Belief in Hierarchy: Roosevelt believed in a rigid racial hierarchy, with white Anglo-Saxons at the pinnacle of civilization and achievement.
Explicit Statements: In a 1906 letter to a friend, he wrote, "Now as to the Negroes! I entirely agree with you that as a race and in the mass they are altogether inferior to the whites".
The Winning of the West: In his multi-volume history of the American frontier, Roosevelt argued that white frontiersmen had forged a new, superior "American race" through "ceaseless strife waged against wild man and wild nature". He wrote that it was "of incalculable importance that America, Australia, and Siberia should pass out of the hands of their red, black and yellow aboriginal owners, and become the heritage of the dominant world races".
"Savage" vs. "Civilized": He believed in a constant struggle between "civilization" and "savagery," asserting that the conquest of "savage and barbaric peoples" by superior races was necessary for the world's progress. He considered the "most ultimately righteous of all wars is a war with savages".

I have pointed this out so many times it gets boring except the orgasm in the public mind. Some say half the population act negatively towards those they deem to have harmed them which maybe as little as disagreed with their opinions. Has America always been a sado masochistic culture
As one of Anglo Saxon descent, I am chagrined to suggest that this is a feature of the Anglo Saxons.
Before the Anglo Saxon invasion of England, invading peoples did slaughter communities wholesale, but only to instill fear, they left the populations alone otherwise that they could tax them, and incorporate their warriors into their armies. He Hunnish horde included Goths, and Slavs.
Rome conquered territories for the purpose of exploiting there resources, using the extand population.
Rome invaded England, but left the population alone, that they could be taxes, and pacified the population, making them dependent on Rome for protection.
Then the Anglo's , Saxons and Jutes invaded when Rome left, and they set upon a wholesale ethnic cleansing, driving the Romano Celts off their lands, and into the mountains, marshes and into Wales, that they could claim the land for themselves.
When their descendants landed on the shores of the continent to be called America, they repeated the process.
The Spanish conquest of the Americas had preceded the Anglo conquest by over 100 years, and although the Spanish engaged in mass slaughter it was directed against the ruling class, the rest of the population was subjugated by colonization of the mind, but not by ethnic cleansing.
Perhaps because Mexico on down to Peru were colonized by bachelors, and the only families brought over after the conquest were the families of the upper class.
In Virginia, there were mostly men, upper class adventurers, freemen, and indentured servants.
A few families migrated, like that of the Fludd family, by and large it was single men, In 1619, they recruited 90 females from County Surrey, enticing them with dowries of linen and wares, to journey to Virginia to marry the randy and frustrated male population of InCels.
But mass migration of families did not occur until after the English civil war, when Royalists fled like geese to Virginia.
The situation in Massachusetts was different. Founded by Puritan families, it experienced a mass immigration of parliamentarians after the restoration of Charles II
Both north and south were of Anglo Saxon ancestry, and set about cleansing the land of inhabitants that they could do, as their ancestors did, claim it as their own.
BTW, the Normans and Vikings did not displace the Anglo Saxons, but did as the Spanish Caudillo's, use the population as labor, but unlike the Spanish which imposed their language and culture (religion), the Normans and Vikings assimilated into the culture, leaving behind only remnants in language and law.
Memory is not stored but generated like Levin's biology. A simple recursive machine that simply decides what the next likely word is. Society is kind of the same. An experiment in what happens next without much caring what the outcome is because despite history the outcome is not always going to be the same. That is entertaining by definition. McKenna pointed out that language was based in plants that humans ingested and science now indicates it is more like a parasite separate from the brain as software could be thought as. Our social activity is not based on logic or knowledge but by social fascinations. Maybe we ot to try these tools to get the results we desire. Politics is kabuki theater. Our myths and stories are boring to the public. The Churches use to do this and some still do. Bring out the dancers and music.

What?! You mean we weren't told the ugly truth about the racist white leaders in our history? She said sarcastically.
Thanks Daniel, someone I love is visiting the Philippines right now, perhaps contemplating a move. We'll need to talk.
