maybe you should have a code to let people know if you are really in trouble, like what parents give kids to signal they need help? Stay safe, looking forward to your next book.

If we have elections this year, we can start to dismantle the autocracy we are living inder right now. The yamster in the White House has been deemed a very special boy the most corrupt SCOTUS in history and he believes he has no limits on his, power. Thiel and his fellow fascist oligarchs are manipulating him to do their will but it is possible, like the German oligarchs of the 1930s, that they have lost control of their monster. Next No Kings day is March 28th!

Being realistic we all are going to have to work hard, to get as many fellow minded people to turn out and vote, because the Republican party has already put in place laws that

1. Restrict voting.

2. Scrub voter rolls

3. Intimidate persons, especially with Hispanic names

4. Replaced independent voter commissions with MAGA

5. Armed poll watchers, at least 10,000 of them trained by the RNC, maybe ICE as well, in violation of the Constitution, which never stopped them.

6. Restricted mail in voting and moved or reduced voting locations and ballot boxes at the last moment

7. Voting machine companies like Dominion have been bought by Republican operatives.

I don't mean to discourage, but those are facts which the DNC and we face and must be pre[ared to confront.

How do we fix it?

How do we enforce a subpoena or an inherent contempt charge against the Attorney General?

How do we arrest, how do we indict, how do we try, and who prosecutes her for inherent contempt"

How do we evict a dictator that won't leave office?

It is one thing to say this should be done, this needs to be done, but another to actually be able to do it.

Get a documentary movie made by a reliable and gutsy producer to show the factual story of "the steal".

William Farrar's avatar

What steal, the 2020 steal? That's the only one I know of.

Greg Hanna's avatar

I'm talking about what Thom Hartmann wrote and what these comments are about, not the so called election steal. Re-read what Thom wrote.

Woo-hoo! This book sounds great.

Did you ever read the "Ransom of Red Chief" by O. Henry? I would expect no less from Thom if they ever came to get him. He would educate everyone in the detention center, including the guards.

Leonardo DiCaprio would come to bust him out. A horde of ACLU lawyers would be breathing fire in court.

Make them sorry, Thom, if it EVER happens. We will find you. Just like in the Last of the Mohicans film: "You, stay alive!" See you in the streets.

Thank you for your hard work, enjoy a little break!

Thom, what you've uncovered is hugely important and this book cannot emerge on the scene at a better time. I hope that it propels lawmakers to take action and bring this to light....

Can’t wait for the release of the book. Anyway I could place a pre published order? 😁

Well, if corporations enjoy the ability to become people, then there should be hundred’s of suits against billionaires and their “people”, who they control, for conspiracy to defraud the US public.

Michael Tanksley's avatar

Is something missing here? There was a Supreme Court ruling sometime in the 1880s that allowed for the creation of corporations, which had been disallowed by the penners of the Constitution for the reason mentioned by Thom. This would seem to me to be closer to the root of what led to this article.

While it is hard to imagine dissolving corporations, our elected representatives in congress could certainly pass an amendment that closes the corporate citizenship barn door.

Elections first, of course.

Looking forward to this exciting read. Can one pre-order?

You should forward this to Barak Obama and Bill Clinton and see if they can confess and repent of their neo- liberalism and have the courage to help move this forward in some manner. They have the leadership and rallying ability.

The almost laughable contradiction for me is that corporations are a legal creation that set up businesses so that its owners could not be held responsible for its debts. As capitalism advanced in the United States (along with industrialization) companies wanted to get investors, but who would invest if the company went bust and the investor ended up responsible for its debts. So, as I understand it, the corporation was invented, and one of its tenants is that the owners of a corporation (board members, etc.) cannot be held responsible for its debts. So, by definition, a corporation is NOT a person. But then, when it wants to buy elections through donations to candidates, suddenly it is a person again. And all this is passed off as truth. We ought to change the law so that the owners of corporations are responsible for its debts, just as sole proprietorships are. That would solve the problem! I write more extensively about these issues in a booklet, "Common Cents Economics: Economics, Politics, and Mass Hysteria", which I serialized on Shea Foote @ Substack.com. Please subscribe.

I do not understand why Mary Trump and the rest of Trump’s family members, her siblings and even his brother and sister, didn’t warn the public about Trump’s instability and depravity before his first election - heck even during the primary to his second election.

Mary Trump, with her expertise as a psychologist, has diagnosed him for years (albeit a compromised view because she is a relative) and makes startling assessments and prognosis’ of undiagnosed mental disease which are supposedly erupting now in the second year of this term.

Because they all knew he was a fraudulent criminal and abuser of women it would have been a greater service to our country then rather than now after he has done so much damage.

All of his fabulist claims about grades and standing in academia, coupled with the miserable cheating business failures might then have been scrutinized more carefully; would exposure of his relatives have given weight enough for the press to run with it?

I don’t know, but Monday night quarter backing doesn’t help because he has power. Of course unless he becomes incapable and his sycophants can’t cover it up like they did for Biden.

Please plan for an audible version of your new book as soon as you can. My Mom is blind and needs the audiobook. I have pre-ordered the book and eagerly awaiting its delivery 💕

How does Citizens United fit into this? We are focusing on that case.
