Here's a few to checkout: Meidas Touch Network, I've Had It Network, Secular Talk, The Young Turks, Adam Mockler, Keith Edwards, Harry Sisson, Hysteria, The Daily Beast, The Bulwark, The Daily Beans, The Left Hook, The Dangerous Ones, and many more.
For the unvarnished truth and some excellent history there is Thom and Company cranking it out everyday. Much appreciated, and let's pass those on. See you in the streets.
There is one show worth watching, I learn so much, and with excellent analysis and guests, Ali Velshi, MSNOW, a three hour program on sat and Sun.
First segement this morning was an exhaustive review of the murder in Minneapolis, right now they are talking about the Visit of AOC, Ilah Omar and other congress persons to the immigration detention camp in Minneapolis, first they weren't allowed on the ground, then they were allowed inside but no further than the lobby.
The law and a federal judge gives them the right and obligation to see how the people are being treated, but ICE refuses, and gets away with it, because ICE is the STASI, and doesn't have to abide by the law, only what Noem and Trump say.
We are in deep shit. The law is a joke, not applicable to us when we needed but used as a weapon against us.
Ixing on the cake, Heather Cox Richardson on Velshi just now.
She says, I agree, that the purpose of the murder, invasion of Venezuela, an all Trump is doing is to show us that resistance is futile, that the tyranny is set solid.
We are in beginning states of a A kraterocracy (or kratocracy) ia system of government where power belongs to the strongest, maintained through force, coercion, or cunning, embodying the principle of "might makes right". It's rule by those who can seize and hold power, often through military might, wealth, or demagoguery, rather than by consent or law, essentially an enforced control by the powerful few.
I used to send him (and all the other talkng heads) to interview Mario Diaz Balart, whose brother was his colleague.... crickets.
Mario is a MAGAT Congressman from Miami. His constiuents inlude a huge number of Venzuelans and the Micusuckee Indian (Native American) tribe whose land was taken to build Allegator Alcatraz and sued.
Out of Spite, Trump Used Veto Power to Punish Florida Tribe That Opposed “Alligator Alcatraz”
The move quashed a bipartisan bid to transfer 30 acres of the Everglades to the Miccosukee.
The host of the show doesn't determine the proogramming or guests.
That is set by the producers. These people get a lot of requests and suggestions and think that their's is of paramount importance and if no responded to are miffed
Yes Velshi had a whole hour dedicated to the murder and out of ice, with lots of guests. You see guests can say things on the air that the hosts can't (legal reasons you know)
TV Hosts can't support of promote any actions like impeachment. Legal reasons as you should know, but he has on guests that can and do.
Maybe you should watch or record his show, rather than be miffed because you were ignored with your earth shattering subject. just one of a thousand these days.
How in the fuck can anyone prioritize or give needed attention to all of the shit Trump throws at us like a firehose.
How does one deflect the rapid fire machine gun bullets that come at us daily.
It's like the Epstein files, he finally got it buried didn't he, now he is threatening an invasion of Greenland.
So what is all of that about.
Well I mentioned in a post about Praxis City, Greenland, Elon Musks great grandfathers, Joshua Norman Haldeman's Tecnocracy Movement, and a Technate of America which includes Greeenland, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador and all of Central America aka Oceania.
Peter Thiel, Sachs, Zuckerberg, all of them are in it with Musk, and this is Trump's payback for the $290 million donation to Trump
Really Daniel, you act like some kid that is eternally pissed because no one listened to him.
You are not the brightest bulb in the room, neither am I, there are lots of bright bulbs that subscribe to substack.
Keith Edwards just posted background info on the Renee Good shooter. Jonathan Ross is a married father. His wife is an immigrant (Philippines). His father claims he is a sweet Christian guy. He's MAGA and supporter of the Proud Boys. His sister had an online conflict with him about his racism. Sounds like he's an Iraq vet. Ten minute YouTube piece:
They will give him a commendation and move him into an office. ICE got stuff from their nice house for them. Bye-bye Minnesota. Her parents are doctors in the Philippines---hope they keep her and the kids safe. He is clearly a deranged mess.
A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action on Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions. See Mobilize.
I wasn't able to speak to Thom today. I'll tell you what I tell him. He has the capacity to put enough pressure to start the Jerry Weiss scenario.
If we can get three (3) Republicans, we can issue subpoenas, hold hearings.
On Thursday, the Senate voted to advance a bill that would stop the Trump administration from additional attacks on Venezuela without congressional approval. The vote was 52–47 with five Republicans joining all the Democrats to move the measure forward. Republicans killed a similar measure in November, but Trump’s enormously unpopular incursion into Venezuela and threats against Greenland prompted five Republicans to reassert congressional authority over military action. CNN called it “a notable rebuke of the president.”
The five Republicans voting for the bill were Susan Collins of Maine, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Todd Young of Indiana.
Immediately, Trump posted on social media that the five “should never be elected to office again.” By reasserting the power of Congress, he wrote, they were “attempting to take away our Powers to fight and defend the United States of America.”
Trump is in a pickle. Here is Baghdad By the Sea, at least one House MAGAT, my rep, opposes him on immigration. Many other House Republicans oppose him on the Epstein coverup. Others on the Obamacare issue. It's up to us to convince more to join them.
In Minnesota Congressional Republicans need to be pressured. We need to contact their donors. Local businesses. Local Holy Joes. Picket. Sit in.
The current Republican U.S. representatives for Minnesota are:
District 1: Brad Finstad (since August 12, 2022)
District 6: Tom Emmer (since January 3, 2015)
District 7: Michelle Fischbach (since January 3, 2021)
Yeah, I have that one in my pod catcher. They're really good.
Here's another outlet I recently discovered that's pretty cool too: "The Fucking News." (Haha, best title ever!)
It's hard to follow all the truth-tellers out there, given the time constraints of everyday life, but it's absolutely vital to have a repertoire of reliable sources to draw upon in this new dark age of mega-lies we're living through.
I also, admittedly, podcast the evening lineup of MS Now, which, eh, could be classified under the rubric of big-corporate news. But at least they're trying to hold the line against the lies of the Trump Administration and the toadies in Congress, as much as their overlords allow, anyway. I fear, though, they won't ultimately survive the right-wing billionaire onslaught against the mainstream media.
2. Ukraine. NATO to the rescue. The NATO Alliance consists of 32 member states from North America and Europe. Article Five of the treaty states that if an armed attack occurs against one of the member states, it should be considered an attack against all members, and other members shall assist the attacked member, with armed forces if necessary.
Here in Baghdad By the Sea, the Miami Herald covers stuff that everyone else miss. That meeting with Big OIl was a joke. E.G. "An announcement by Venezuela’s interim government that it would free a “substantial number” of political prisoners — a move publicly celebrated by Trump as a breakthrough — has stalled almost as soon as it began, exposing a fierce internal power struggle inside the fractured Chavista regime following the capture of Nicolás Maduro."
From NYT Dealbook: Ryan Lance, the chief executive of ConocoPhillips, regarding the $12 billion in claims the company is pursuing against Venezuela. The president, however, showed little interest in addressing such concerns, saying, “We’re not going to look at what people lost in the past.” He jokingly suggested that such losses could be written off on the companies’ taxes.
“It’s already been written off,” Lance replied somewhat tersely.
And after Mark Nelson, the vice chairman of Chevron, spoke, Trump made what sounded like a threat.
“If we make a deal, you will be there a long time,” he said, without naming Chevron or any other oil company. “If we don’t make a deal, you won’t be there at all.”
The independants on YouTube and the podcasts I read and listen to, become a vast main daily information. To be honest, I can't cope anymore, once I need almost a whole days to read...read and listen to all of them...Hope that very soon, even before the midterm, this administration will make a crucial misstep for the welbeing of the USA and the whole world.
A little trivial, but we know that Trump loves gold. Last night on BBC America, they had, without comment, a video of the Gold House. Trump is actually having the White House bathed in gold light at night.
We all must tolerate a fascist government ruled by a demented old coot billionaire and Russian useful idiot. America has grown so soft that we somehow think it will just go away without resistance. How can we believe that Democrats will win back both houses when Trump has so eagerly been busy trying to rig national voting?
Trump is unquestionably demented. Yet, for the second time in a row since Article 25 was enacted, both parties have ignored presidential dementia out of greed for power. You have to ask yourself why we allow Trump's ICE Gestapo to invade US major cities to harass the citizens, even shooting and killing some, ostensibly to keep immigrants from eating our dogs and cats?
We sit idly by as Trump raises the defense budget to $1.5TN when it is already bigger than the next dozen countries' defense budgets combined? Who the heck do MAGAs think is going to pay for our skyrocketing national debt? Our tariffs have alienated all US allies and trading partners globally - including risking expulsion from NATO so some demented megalomaniac is free to obliterate the American economy to own an ice-covered island in the North Atlantic?
Alienating all our allies, asserting that International Law is a joke, will finish us off as the world reacts to a whacko ticking bomb that might attack them next.
Totally agree Tom, but a word on the national debt. The national debt is not like the household debt. If you don't make payments you will be foreclosed on, repossessed, lose your credit rating, credit cards cancelled and unable to get credit.
It is the interest on debt, public and private, including credit card, that is responsible for inflation. long term inflation the upward creep where a home that once cost $9,0000 now costs a quarter of a million.
Short term inflation is indeed caused by the supply of money, but dissipates leaving only interest inflation.
The government funds it's activities by selling government securities, to the Association of Primary Dealers in Government Securities at discount, the APDIGS then sells themto the fed which uses them as the reserve base, institutions (retirement funds, unions) and overseas investors (sovereign funds, central banks)
Interest and maturing bonds are redeemed and paid, by taxes, If there aren't enough taxes collected to redeem bonds and pay interest, the government then prints more securities, and as securities flood the market, their value goes down. The value of the dollar weakens, and eventually the world is dedollarized, and the Renminbi (RMB), China's currency is on the rise
To sell government securities to central banks sovereign funds and institutions, in the face of a weakening dollar, requires a higher interest rate.
The Open Market committee of the Federal Reserve establishes the current interest rate, which is the rate at which the Open Market Committee sells it's government securities to member banks, which then uses them as the reserve base.
The reserve base is comprised of government securities, corporate bonds, and demand deposits (checking accounts).
The Fed also sets the fraction of reserves that banks must keep on hand, that they can loan (create money) out of debt.
the U.S., the Federal Reserve currently sets the reserve requirement at 0%, meaning banks aren't legally forced to hold a specific percentage of deposits in reserve to make loans, a change made in March 2020 to boost lending, though banks still hold reserves for operations. Historically, this rate was around 10% for larger banks, dictating how much they could lend from deposits, but now banks manage liquidity based on other regulations and market needs, not a mandated minimum.
This means that the banks can literally create money, but can only do so in response to consumer demand for loans, including credit cards.
Money so created is wiped off the books, when the principal is paid down or paid off.
Incur a thousand dollar debt today, and the bank creates $1,000 of money, pay off the loan tomorrow and that $1,000 is wiped off the books. however as you spend that money and it passes through hands, it is diminished by the average tax rate. It takes a about 7 transactions for the money to completely disappear.
The effect of our national debt is felt mainly in international trade.. as the interest rate of the government security rises the value of the dollar diminishes, and it costs more to purchase products overseas, and cheaper for foreign actors to purchase American property and products. The reverse is true.
An increase of money flowing in from abroad, also increasesthe money supply, and causes a rise in prices.
But the only way to foreclose on America inc, is by war. invade and be victorious.
Many ancient wars were fought for that reason,
The Fugger Brothers of Italy, were financiers of the crowned heads. Alas they loaned Spain a fortune, which Spain could not or did not repaly. The Fugger brothers did not have a sovereign indebted to them that they could control, so went bankrupt.
Ferdinand and Isabella were still in need of silver and gold, there solution was to issue and Edict of Expulsion, evicting all Muslims and Jews, then confiscating their property.
High national debts sustain inflation and decrease citizens' standard of living. It also shrinks the value of the US dollar.
We all pay the price of the National Debt indirectly because it affects the interest rates foreign financiers charge for the lower security of US investments. Just like if your credit score is 350, your credit card interest rate will be 4 times higher than mine at 830 because your risk of default is very high. High national debt will also be reflected in wholesale charges, insurance charges, etc. that all affects what you and I pay for imports, as well as mortgage and car loans.
Sadly, ECON 101 is not a required core course in most universities. Tariffic Trump surely skipped it. Household Financial Management is rarely a semester-long Public HS course either. The US financial system is rigged to ensure that citizens remain economic illiterates. It facilitates indenturing us. This psychologist knows some world-class economists like Dean Baker, author of "Rigged" and Harold Pollack, author of the best-seller, "The Index Card." Both books should be required reading in HS.
I agree, I believe I said all of that indifferent words
By the way don't look to Econ for information on money and the Fed.
My undergraduate was emphasis on Econ. My graduate was Finance and Accounting.
I didn't learn a thing about the Fed, money, who it is created,or even the truth about inflation until I started researching my paper working on my masters.
I spent half a year scouring the libararies and attics of two universities, also obtained a foot locker (actual) full of material from the Fed, Bank of International Settlements and even the bank of Israel. For the Soviet union I had to buy professional books on Soviet Banking and Soviet Marketing.
I produced a 138 page heavily footnoted paper with a bibliography, I showed it to my "favorite' undergrad econ professor, picked it up a month later, asked him what he thought. His response was "I don't understand money"
To make yours and my head spin, Trump is saying that the tariffrs and his executive orders re a national inventment fund and his promotion of cybergelt will grow the economy so much that the national debt wilkl be paid and that federal income taxation will be eliminated.
Trump signed an executive order in February 2025 to create a U.S. sovereign wealth fund, aiming to build national wealth by monetizing U.S. assets, potentially funding it through debt, tariffs, or asset sales, with Michael Grimes tapped to set it up, though the specifics and congressional hurdles remain significant. Separately, his administration established the United States Investment Accelerator in March 2025 to boost large-scale investments by reducing red tape, speeding permits, and coordinating federal agencies for major projects like CHIPS Act initiatives.
If the national debt is $38 trillion, according to some boosters, that is exactly the value of Venezuelan oil assets he just expropriated.
Some economists have argued that the emergence of just ASI could trigger massive 20-30% annual GDP growth.
Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) / Self-Aware AI: The most advanced theoretical stage, where AI not only equals human intelligence but vastly surpasses it. It would be self-aware, conscious, and capable of original thought, moral reasoning, and emotional understanding beyond human capacity.
IMO, the world is in the worst danger since the Cuban Missile Crisis. World wars have started over less provocation than Greenland. This is especially true since Denmark has stated that they will defend the island by force of arms, saying they'll fire first and ask questions later. The Danish, with the help of Canada, Sweden and Norway, are continuing to reinforce the defenses. Other nations are quietly helping, too.
So now what? What to do? So why, with the administration not tethered to rules, are we? With a narcissist who can blow up the world now being demented, it's us I would say who are crazier than he is for letting him stay in power. What about some version of what I keep asking?
How about a coup to install a presidential team? Let's say Heather Cox Richardson, Joyce Vance, Anne Applebaum, and Marianne Williamson. These are ones I follow, and there are other great women, too. And maybe more than four to do this. Just picture such warm, intelligent, and human-loving human beings leading the way. If they state that they are taking charge, so many millions would be on the streets in Washington that we couldn’t be thwarted.
Thank you for this well thought out and provocative article. Trump and his murderous Regime are breaking every law, U.S. and International that they can imagine. They know no law, ethics, or morality other than might makes right. When Trump claims that his only limitation is what his mind can dream up. It shows his scorn of everything that matters in human relations and the politics of nations. It defies the Christian tradition that his Evangelical, Catholic, and Christian Nationalist supporters allegedly so value.
It is a criminal regime that targets anyone, anywhere, and anytime to speak against it.
Please keep writing and speaking the truth, and watch your six.
I'm sorry, I don't believe in The White House anymore. When I was 16 yrs old my family went to Washington DC. We took the tours, we sat in on the Senate...there was no one there and they were talking about 'pork barrel spending.' They haven't made it better yet. I was sorely disappointed but my dad reminded me that these buildings were ours -we the people! He was blue but he was what a real patriot is supposed to be. If I had even left a scratch on any part of the White House or the Capital Building he would have had me outside before I even know what had happened. He taught me respect for other people's property and until you know who took over the seat that used to belong to the "people's president, I believed that we were still "the people". Not anymore
Thom, this is a on going wait for it, all the time. What do with a man who has absolutely no morals at all, Thom! Thank you for your wonderful mind, always thinking. Thom, Putin is enjoying
this very much, right. I, knew with his smile from the Beast with Trump in Alaska. He, owns him Thom. We, are becoming that. Kill people and say they caused their on death style, like Putin. Thom! Democracy? Really?
Whose house was it? The owners weren’t very responsible. Maybe they were complacent, distracted, or maybe they didn’t actually know what they inherited and slufffed it off as some weird thing to be donated to Goodwill

We are seeing in full display the emergence of "Nazi America"Who will fight back, who stop this?
I don't think for a nanosecond, this is going to be settled trough peaceful demonstrations.
How do we explain to younger generations that we have seen what a "Nazi" takeover is like and nothing was done to stop it.
We need to take action - for the sake of our grandchildren - ASAP
Resist! Resist!

Did he ask people to support impeachment actions? Did he publicize Out of ICE weekend today?
You idiot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_D%C3%ADaz-Balart
Ten minute YouTube piece:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DqcxxQ2sFY28
He was reading from an article in the online magazine Daily Mail.
If he was a "sweet Christian," he had no business working for ICE.
Jerry Weiss scenario. https://jerryweiss.substack.com/
District 8: Pete Stauber (since January 3, 2019)

Really good print media. One I forgot on YouTube that is exceptional is Pod Save America.
We watch stuff like Times Radio, several Ukrainian channels, Tulsi.
1. Iran. Two weeks of street protests against the government and a dire economic situation E.G. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1yrLxIUM3g. Trump fucks up.....

Hysteria does a show called This Fucking Guy. The gals on there do little bios on the men and women in the regime.
I'm grateful that the independents are totally out of control on every level, including the language. They are bold and brave.
Thanks, guys, for making my head hurt this morning. 😵💫 Good stuff, though!
I'm more like: I'll give you two cords of dry tamarack for four used 16" truck tires with some good tread left...

Actually at this point im hoping the roof just caves in due to lack of structural integrity.
Never encourage this stuff, but this is frigin' funny, Kayo.

Deport Usha Vance!!
Thom,
Thank you for this well thought out and provocative article.

Thom! Democracy? Really?
