Trump’s answer to losing Congress is to hand the keys to mini-Goebbels Stephen Miller. Two days after an electoral wipeout, Trump chose to dump the blame on one of the last women left in his office who isn’t a fawning young blonde; he announced on his Nazi-infested social media site that he’s replacing Chief of Staff Susie Wiles with the architect of family separations, masked ICE raids, state murders of American citizens, and the mass deportation machine. I’d thought that maybe he’d moderate a bit, perhaps even try working with Democrats to pass legislation that represents real accomplishments — after all, he spent most of his life as a Democrat and isn’t really an ideologue — but, no, instead he’s going to double down on power, racism, hate, and violence. Trump’s own lawyers have, more than once, pointed out that Miller’s demands and commands are sometimes nakedly unlawful; his worldview is stark and right out of the Third Reich, saying that he lives in a world that’s “governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power.” He has also asserted that ice can kill anybody they want and can’t be stopped by local police, tweeting around the time Renee Good and Alex Pretty were murdered: “To all ICE officers: You have federal immunity in the conduct of your duties. Anybody who lays a hand on you or tries to stop you or tries to obstruct you is committing a felony. You have immunity to perform your duties, and no one — no city official, no state official, no illegal alien, no leftist agitator or domestic insurrectionist — can prevent you from fulfilling your legal obligations and duties. The Department of Justice has made clear that if officials cross that line into obstruction, into criminal conspiracy against the United States or against ICE officers, then they will face justice.” The next two years are going to be brutal…
