Who needs stupid rules of engagement when you have enough stupid people at the top to cover ALL the stupid?

We have to pound home the message that NONE OF THIS HAD TO HAPPEN. Add to the No Kings signs No Warmongers.

Senator Ossoff said it best when he saw the video game, AI slop, combined with real war footage that TRump put out. He said it speaks to their "moral rot".

The vast majority of Republicans are still polling on the side of this horrific war. We have to kick them to the curb, and some new folks are bringing it home for all of us. Show your support in any way you can. See you in the streets.

Eadie Sharron's avatar

alis, who do you think are bringing it home?

The Democrats in special elections. Then there are Governors Spanberger and Sherrill, as well as Rep. Grijalva. All kinds of people have stepped up to run.

You can search for this article from March 4th by NBC:

Democrats have flipped 9 seats in state legislative special elections

Eadie Sharron's avatar

Sherrill was just elected in Jan. 2026. She will serve a 4 year term. I was interested in who you thought was currently out there beating the democratic drum in congress. Grijalva took the seat of her father in 2025.

Check out the the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee investigation into Epstein's network. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) serves as the Ranking Member and leads the Democratic contingent on this panel with Ro Khanna.

Other prominent Democrats active in the committee’s Epstein-related efforts include Reps. Ayanna Pressley (MA), Summer Lee (PA), Melanie Stansbury (NM), Rashida Tlaib (MI), Maxwell Frost (FL), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL), Lateefah Simon (CA), and Wesley Bell (MO).

With so many more to come in about 10 months now. And when we look at their faces, we will see a true representation of this country.

Let the impeachment begin. The truth will come out.

Eadie Sharron's avatar

I have no faith in Rashida Tlaib. She is an avowed antisemite IMO. Thank you for some of the other names. Ro Khanna and Sheldon Whitehouse come to my mind.

alis's avatar

All the progressive caucus. They just tried to rein in TRump on the war with 212 of them in the House and 47 in the Senate.

They are constantly fighting for help for the poor, working poor, and uninsured. Veterans. The environment. The release of the Epstein Files.

Specifically, I like Crockett, Garcia, Khanna, Moscowitz, Lee, Stansbury, and Frost.

We need to thank and encourage the Republicans who voted for the Bondi subpoena.

I saw Comer on TV last night. Incredibly, he addressed the fact that he was snowed by his own people.....

The surveillance state, the national security state, we did it to ourselves. Terrified by 9/11 we didn't object to the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. act, which was actually put together during the Clinton Administration, then shelved awaiting an opportunity such as 9/11.

Among other things it authorized the building of the National Data Center, located at Bluffale , UT,. The purpose of which is to sniff all electronic communications to detect terrorist plans, supposedly the comms were limited to those between foreign sources and domestic sources, but if you believe that , then will believe that Trump is a liberal.

The situation is worse now with advance AI, all comms, including internet comments like this, are sniffed at the speed of light by AI, identified tagged, categorized and stored

To be hauled out as evidence when they succeed into turning this into a full blown fascist national security state

Now that officially accepting the will of our evil dictator and his sheep IS America's new legal and philosophical system, how can Americans honestly profess patriotism and loudly scream for non-violent solutions to save the American dream of freedom and the concept of peace and for all our families, friends, and neighbors? Why and how can we accept that non-violence is a viable pathway? Ending Trump's reign of terror is not going to happen if we have to say "please" to the true enemies of America following Trumpian will and his "laws". It is interesting to look at the establishment of VOLENT opposition as the only chance we have to survive as a free people. Funny how that seems to always be the last resort in most of the countries of the World. Is continued freedom worth shedding blood and however it is accomplished to the removal of dictators and unacceptible forms of government?

1. Headlines should be EPSTEIN. Latest revelation is that the Epstein estate paid off a claim against Trump. https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/epstein-accountant-spills-bombshell-payout-215837049.html

2. Krasnov takes orders from Putin. By releasing Russia from sanctions, we are supporting them, their war in Ukraine and in effect, also financially supporting Iran, their ally. At the same time, according to NYT, "Jared Kushner, one of the U.S. government’s chief negotiators in the Middle East, is trying to raise more money for his private equity firm from governments in the region.

"Mr. Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, has spoken with potential investors in recent weeks about raising $5 billion or more for Affinity Partners, his investment firm, according to five people with knowledge of the talks who were not permitted to speak publicly about the discussions."

3. The NYT expose' of Fishback did not cover the scandal here in Baghdad By the Sea, where Republicans attack each other over overt racism. Hopefully it will split the party, which has a Black gubernatorial candidate currently leading in the polls.

4. Stephern Miller. Just a henchman. The villian is TRUMP. To paraphrase, cut off the head, and the body dies.

5. For many of us, the economy has turned and the markets have lost all gains. WE WERE BETTER OFF UNDER BIDEN. Oil prices up 47%. Had you invested in Build a Bear over the past 5 year, you'd have made more money than if you held Nividia, the largest company in the world.

How is Epstein going to help, when there is no way to arrest, penalize, try, convict Pam Bondi,Todd Blanche or Donald Trump?

William Farrar's avatar

I didn't say anything I asked a question. A question you can't answer, so you come back with snark.

Daniel Solomon's avatar

Apparently you want a fight. I've laid this out but you are in denial. Repeat MAGA talking points.

William Farrar's avatar

No Daniel,I want answers. You've been pounding this drum for over a year, and yet provide no answers.

Your response is to defame me, to attack me.

You owe all of us an answer. This is not a talking point but a legitimate question.

How will the Epstein files, solve the Trump problem?

You ready to discuss? Convince me, don't deflect by attacking me.

Daniel Solomon's avatar

The trick is to persuade Congressional Republicans. You have been discouraging people from doing it. Note the Bondi subpoena vote.

It's true that you know NO law, yet pontificate as if you do.

Whenever we talk about surveilling Americans, it’s important to mention, as you did, that the major purpose is to get incriminating information about liberal politicians and social activists, the way J. Edgar Hoover did. In response to Hoover, the government set up a committee to review the activities of the intelligence community every year to ensure that it was not surveilling Americans.

In this context, it’s important to remember the reason that Edward Snowden made his sacrifice. He was asked to watch four politicians to get evidence of them going to pornography sites. Then General Clapper testified before the committee that none of the intelligence agencies under his authority were surveilling Americans. There’s a YouTube video of his false testimony https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwiUVUJmGjs

The intelligence community has never stopped wanting to get this power. Miller is trying for them again.

Let's say Barron, Eric and Don were killed in the Iran war. how would he respond if Obama said, "What's good for the goose is good for the gander." After all, fairness and equality should happen to all.

alis's avatar

Totally get your point, Eadie.

Also in reality, TRump HAS put his kids' and grandkids' lives at further risk, and his own too. This will be true for all the government workers, company employees, and just citizens overseas. Several corporations over there have evacuated their folks till further notice. The enemies TRump has created have very long memories.

Thanks Thom for once again letting us know how belligerently ignorant Trump and his team of clowns are. Today's news is that Trump and fellow genius Hegseth may be planning to send marines storming ashore at Kharg Island Iran. This is the location where 90% of Iranian oil is shipped from according to a Washington Post article. So now they want to destroy the Iranian economy for the long term? Have they contemplated the consequences of such an action? For one, there are bottled up super tankers, at anchor, huge sitting ducks ... what the (expletive) do they think is going to happen to them if they send the marines in.

Will our Numbnuts Nero ever realize that "wars are won not by who's right but by who's left," and that his 'little excursion' is neither?

William Farrar's avatar

Proof that “America First “is not about America First or patriotism .lies in the fact that MAGA, Trump’s base has not rebelled at the fact that Trump, not only has been supporting Putin, but when confronted with the fact that Putin is helping Iran with targeting intell that is killing and wounding our troops, his response was essentially “so what” And with that fact staring them in the face, they still worship his fat and befouled ass.

By the way, we are in for a global depression. Iran can block the SOH (Strait of Hormuz) forever.

It has 33,000 fast boats, dows (fishing boats which can lay mines). The Iranian navy was for show, the boats that the Air Force sunk, were tied up at piers with no troops on board. The real navy is the IRGC navy, 33,000 or more, stowed away in sheds and even underground bunkers. Iran has been preparing for this for years.

These boats are manned by fanatic IRGC members most can handle 15 fighters, they can launch them at the islands in the gulf, or at the UAE themselves. And the IRGC motivated by a fatwa, and four ayatollahs have issued one each, that promises paradise to martyrs, we are facing an enemy that seeks death, and how do you fight that?

Not only is oil being disrupted, but international commerce, chip production, without LNG So Korea, who provides 20% of the worlds chips comes to a halt, and it takes months to restart.. No more cars, TV’s, appliances ,or repairs for those that have broken down.

There is no need for the war to impact American gas and diesel prices, as we actually produce more oil than we use, we export oil, that the oil cabal can import oil, that way it keeps the international price of oil per barrel high and guarantees profit for the shareholders

All Trump has to do is tell his financiers, the oil cabal, not to export any oil. The little secret is that the U.S. is actually energy independent,

Gloria J. Maloney's avatar

I read that the U.S. doesn't have the right kind of oil for all our needs. Cuba has two oil refineries for Venezuelan oil, and we have some refineries in Texas or somewhere in the south. So you may be correct that we could be oil independent, especially if Trump and Rubio invade Cuba.

William Farrar's avatar

I agree with Daniel below, the world oil supply comes in flavors of heavy or sour, with varying portions of sulfur, sweet and the very best Brent.

They are all refined, it is just that the heavier the oil, the more expensive it is to refine.

Venezuelan oil, is heavy, very high sulfur content, and it requires special built refineries.

CITGO was the Venezuelan oil company, and when Exxon, Chevron, Shell were jacking up their prices, Venezuela was keeping them low, then Chavez nationalized their oil, and that pissed of Exxon Mobil, and they used the US Government, in the form of the CIA and State Department to try and overthrow Chavez, having failed in that endeavor they forbade Venezuela from operating CITGO in the US.

Last October or November, CITGO was sold, pennies on the dollar, to Paul Singer, a major billionaire financier of Trump.

CITGO has purpose built refineries in Lake Charles, LA that can handle Venezuelan Oil, Chevron, Valero, Marathon Petroleum, Phillips 66, and Citgo. These facilities, designed for heavy-sour crude, are benefiting from renewed imports.

Venezuelan oil refined then exported. The US doesn' t need this oil for it's own consumption.

Daniel Solomon's avatar

I think that's propaganda brought to us by Big Oil and OPEC.

We could be oil independent in days if we elevate alternative energy.....restore the EV subsidies....elevate emerging technology. On your substack I discussed some of this... the magnificant 7 are spending zillions on stuff like nuclear...

My spies in Pennsyltucky tell me that many wells remain capped waiting for even higher oil prices.....

William Farrar's avatar

Yegads Daniel, we are in 100% agreement, Thanks for the tidbit about PA oil wells.

Most Republicans still back Trump though they hate his behavior. This shows me we need two countries. It would not work, though. We disagree so much on economics ETC. that we are just fighting and wasting time. We should have voted for Bernie Sanders in 2016. The only good thing about now is that we know more about how to respond to a would-be dictators using cruel tactics to get their way every day. Abe Lincoln and FDR were strong leaders who were also called dictators, but they were not cruel. They were trying to help the oppressed and it took wars to level the field. I could write all day but Thom Hartmann, Timothy Snyder, Heather Cox Richardson, Robert Reich, Adam Kinzinger, Paul Krugman, Indivisible, Christopher Armitage, AND many others are covering the tragedy weekly. Thom's post reminds readers of how the Democrats, while on a winning streak, remain almost invisible in the MSM, while MAGA Republicans are holding well-attended rallies promoting Nazi philosophies. I publish a daily news summary for 50 or so friends. The political pattern is obvious, RED news dominates the MSM - even though much of it is critical. As far as news worth repeating, the ratio of Red to Blue is about 8 to 1. Not only is there more notable MAGA news than Democrat news, but much of what gets into the news at all about Democrats is not worth repeating - it is not headline-grabbing.

It is hard not to see that the Democrats are still "sleepy," and continue to win elections by merely being the lesser of two evils.

Dems are not winning because they are offering better policies and arguing loudly how liberal changes like free healthcare for all is a good thing and would cost less than what people pay now, or how college is too expensive, and highlighting that colleges nationally are being dumbed down by Republican funding restrictions, limits on campus protests, and drying up scholarships as too DEI.

In Red-glowing Florida, for instance, all state universities now have DeSantis-hand-picked boards of directors and often chancellors and deans. Grammar and high school textbooks are being purged to reflect Republican worldviews that exclude positive information about liberal policies and over-emphasize fascist worldviews. As soon as DeSantis signs the new bill, Florida voters will have to prove citizenship to cast ballots. Oh, and remember it is illegal for teachers to say "gay.""

?????? "This disgusting husk of a man must be impeached as quickly as possible." Arghhhh.

Let's go faster. What would he take to fire his hires and resign? Everything has a price, and he figures to be the poster child for that. He's not a happy President. All he wants is the spoils. So give him enough. He keeps what he's grifted, he's immune from prosecution, and what? Give him a desert to develop? Do we care if he gets to be the richest person in the world as long as he's not running the country? Thom, you could lead that parade!!!!!!!

"..in support of "our" Iran mission."???

These are the types of statements that lead people to conclude that the Blue party is the same as the Red party behind all the theatrics. Two parties, different branding - working for the same exact ruling-class.

Never in my name.
