This Platner affair pisses me off, but with the Democratic party. The party big wigs are scared shitless of progressives, and the oppo research isnot coming from the Republicans but within the house.

A skull and crossbones tattoo does not a NAZI make, and I saw the tattoo before he had it covered with a Celtic knot, it did not look at all like the SS Totenkopf as the SS Tattoo was a skull only, no crossbones. But just saying that is enough to get a certain faction of our population, like Schumer and AIPAC slobbering.

As regards the allegations of an ex girlfriend, beware of a woman scorned. His other ex's said that he did not manhandle them..

A lesson for everyone be very careful of what you put out on social media

But what should concern us all, is that this controversy has its origin in the DNC and DSCC, because they are scared shitless of progressives, because the cabal of donors are scared of progressives,.

Schumer and the establishment Democrats would rather have a Republican than a progressive.

I am also pissed at the way msnow Chris Hayes kept aggressively questioning Platner over and over again like some cheap 60 minutes reporter looking for a gotcha. I finally just turned the damn tv off.

Jan Feeler's avatar

Me, too--I wanted to reach into the tv and punch Chris. Immediately wrote Platner a letter telling him to OWN IT and keep punching that people who don't change their minds when the situation, environment or politics brings a different terrain is a narrow minded person. Also sent him another check! He should pound on the fact that susan collins has voted to fund Concentration Camps in America.

Idon't watch Chris and haven't for years. He is useless, another professional there to please his boss and keep his job. Basically all of MSNOW, when it was MSNBC, they fired Keith Olbermann,Joy Reid, Katy Phang. Shoot one, warn a thousand.

About the only progessive left on MSNOW is Ali Velshi, and he touches progressivism not full frontal like Cent Uygur, but good enough. His week end show did a chapter by chapter expose on Project 2025, too bad not enough people were tuned in.

You’re right. We Dems gnash lur teeth at Platner’s indiscretions but the rethuglicans elect and fawn over a serial rapist, tax cheat, misogynist, and a whole bunch of other shit the orange sleepyheads is guilty of! We are fucked! Do not give up!

Does the cage fight remind anyone else of the movie “Idiocracy”?

Good call. You can order Idiocracy online, or you once could I got a copy years ago via Amazon. Worth watching. It is prophetic.

Edit added: Prodocud by 20th Century Fox, it was pulled after Trump got elected.

Caligula was disposed of 40 years before the Flavian Amphitheater ("Colosseum") was built, but there was plenty of blood for him to enjoy. Actually everyone was right to be so terrified of him they would do anything to avoid being on his hit list. And that's just like North Korea today. Maybe we're not quite at that point--people are sued into bankruptcy or leaned on to the point where they can't do business without going along. And if powerless enough they can be imprisoned or deported. So right now death is only a side effect that is often hidden But that's not to say it can't get worse. Give a child unlimited power and we could be in that Jerome Bixby story the Twilight Zone so memorably broadcast, "It's a Good Life".

And happy D-Day remembrance everyone. This was when the U.S. worked with its allies to defeat fascism. We were all antifa, and proud of it.

Our Capital is being remade in the image of this two-bit (coin) criminal, his highly paid escort wife, and his children that are spreading their disease of greed around the world.

The TRumps will continue to be "torn down" and so will his "monuments" to stupidity. That will be OUR party.

People often add to the Birthday Wishes "and many more". NOPE! Not doing that. I know what my birthday wish is going to be for Donold. See you in the streets.

Geez, the Trump Regime is out of control. Our country is falling apart in every way possible.

It is truly amazingly disgusting that Trump and his pitiful group of suck ups have allowed things in this country to disintegrate to the level we’re at today.

His orders from Putin were to destroy US of America, and he has worked hard to follow these orders.

Hunger has returned in greater margins . Poverty is hoped for , since it’s truly effective in separating us from the people who matter , the wealthiest.

We will die sooner , have rampant health problems with out Health Care resources.

Of course , the Greediest Narcissist in the world is all in with it .

There must be radical movement by those that hope to return to Democracy .

Evil will continue to spread without taking real measures to put things right again.

A Case For A Gold Standard

Today’s politicians don’t like to talk about a gold standard. In 1914 Germany went off a gold standard which allowed the government to fund WWI. In 1924 the Papiermark became worthless and people used it in their stoves to warm their homes. It was at this time the government went back on a gold standard, using the new Reichsmark to be the gold backed currency.

Today’s macroeconomists at the Fed and American politicians like their German counterparts in the early 1920’s may not want to talk about a gold standard but that reality is fast approaching where it will be unavoidable. Currently the dollar of 1971 buys 4 to 6 cents of its value now. Financial commentators like Steve Forbes, economist Judy Shelton, Austrian school economists, and even though Ray Dalio has not advocated for a gold standard he believes it will be necessary to deal with a currency collapse.

In a fiat currency system relies on the government becoming a holder of credit much like your credit card company. You create debt with the use of your card and the company gives you credit for the people you’re paying but you’re responsible for the payment. Physical gold in your possession is not a financial claim on any institution, government, or company. It cannot be defaulted upon, nor does it depend on government solvency. When a currency is backed by gold, the holder of the currency can ask the government for redemption of the currency in gold when requested.

As Thom points out, things in Washington are getting brazenly corrupt.

Emperor Julius Dementiano is holding private gladiatorial games in a makeshift colosseum specially constructed in the backyard of the White House to celebrate his birthday, at the empire's expense, of course. It is just one more stunt to remind us, and our oligarchs, that Democracy is dead and he is now our supreme ruler.

The Democrats are so power-starved that they will run a candidate with lifelong evidence of poor judgment (Nazi tatts and sexi texts) just like the Republicans run known corrupt pols. After all, Dems ran a demented president too, so neither party can claim the political moral high ground. Thus, it is impossible for the Democrats to harvest much political capital from things like Trump's gladiator games, arc d' Trump, ballroom, gilded Oval Office, etc.
