"The Last American President: A Broken Man, a Corrupt Party, and a World on the Brink" ....

.....sounds exactly what's happening right now.....

....Thom, thanks for everything you do....you're the lighthouse shining out the truth in a raging sea of lies and corruption....

This scenario has already happened to a family member....

A relative thought they were watching true reporting on an issue about TRump. It was a power grab that the right wanted the viewer to accept as if it already happened. They used an AI generated version of Lawrence O'Donnel.

I had been watching Lawrence for years and knew immediately that the voice was close, but the image was off. There is a reason these propaganda pieces have been tagged as "AI slop".

The Tech Bros have unleashed this futuristic, disgusting technology long before it is ready. The robotic surgeries can be a disaster. An autonomous car killed a pedestrian. The damage and death is literally part of the experiment and fun these psychos and sickos want on their way to their Technocracy that will replace our Democracy. Welcome to The Shield of The Americas and say hello to Kristi Noem. See you in the streets.

I watched an AI Rachel Maddow. I knew it was off, but I wanted to hear what the AI character said. If you look in the description, it should say "synthetic content". Now I look for that right away when the mannerisms keep repeating, or it feels "off."

Imagine AI selecting the components of your medications. Setting your diet. Managing your money. Choosing your entertainment, media.

E.G. I ask AI how to invest a few bucks every day. I can match up technical details in seconds. AI missed the Iran War, corruption in government contracts.

I'm also using it to help me translate and analize my Spanish lit and culture material. Lots of grammatical errors.

Seen it blow simple date and math calculations. It also is known to "hallucinate", just another way to say it makes shit up and doesn't say it is guessing or giving an imagined answer.

Just have to note: there are a LOT of AI models out there now, and they are not all the same quality, nor good for the same things. Nor do most users pay for the most costly consumer model, or have the best platform, nor do most users have access to the military grade models, etc.

Some models have been taught to take polls, some have been taught to guide missiles to targets. Some are being taught philosophy and morals; some to conduct and evaluate science; some to surveil populations, monitor opinions, and kill. Or sew small blood vessels. Or write code for the next AI model.

So AI is a spectrum of things, it is not one thing, nor a fixed performance tool. They make errors, but of different kinds, and rapidly, less and less. But the key thing is, everyone will be affected by various AIs, and almost no-one, OR no-one, is in control of any of those population-wide effects.

Everyone is in a sprint to the holy grail, the all powerful AGI genie in a bottle.

This is possibly the LAST arms race, and WE voters don't have a dog in the fight.

This is an arms race between billionaires, not nations.

Well before the midterm elections, AI 'slop' will be good enough to deceive 98-99% of viewers. Currently 95% don't notice, sampling from the comments (likely biased, but not clear which direction).

This is as good a time as any to stop your feeds, and most subscriptions.

Thie following may/may not be the reason I'm banned on X (formerly known as Twitter.)

Elon Musk's chatbot Grok generated a series of antisemitic posts on X (formerly Twitter). The bot reportedly praised Adolf Hitler, mocked the Holocaust, and repeated offensive tropes about Jewish people. Musk later stated that the bot was "too eager to please" and easily manipulated, leading to updates to its guardrails.

Image and Video Generation: An October 2025 analysis by the ADL Center for Technology and Society found that AI video generators produced hateful or extremist content in response to antisemitic prompts at least 40% of the time.

Here's the kind of stuff I get in my inbox every morning:

The Wall Street Journal says...

SpaceX is set to receive a 2 billion dollar contract from the Pentagon.

The company will build up to 600 satellites designed to track missiles and aircraft as part of Trump's Golden Dome missile defense shield.

SpaceX is also expected to play a major role in two other Pentagon satellite projects.

The company has gone from launching rockets to becoming a pillar of U.S. national defense, and it's getting ready to go public in June.

They want about $1000 to tell me how to play it!

More from my inbox:

Daniel, three news stories… tell me if you can see the connection:

Donald Trump says he wants to "nationalize" elections – which even his fellow Republicans are saying should be left up to the states.

Steve Bannon was explicit: ICE will "surround the polls" – which has nothing to do with immigration laws and everything to do with intimidating voters who don't agree with him and pushing them out of our elections.

Democrats in Congress are asking for some ICE reforms before they'll give the rogue agency another $10 billion in taxpayer money – and their demands are better than nothing, but nowhere near enough to meet the moment we're in. [4]

Here's what it all boils down to: Donald Trump wants an America where armed, masked federal agents are at YOUR polling place, because he knows he can't win a fair fight.

And if we don't act IMMEDIATELY, our leaders in Congress aren't just going to let it happen… they're going to make you pay for it!

Common Cause is tracking this plot – potentially the greatest threat to a free and fair 2026 election – because we refuse to let this country turn into the dictatorship MAGA dreams of.

If you're with us, here’s something you can do right now to help: sponsor an Election Protection volunteer.

These trained, nonpartisan, grassroots volunteers are voters’ first line of defense – and I hope you’ll agree, we’ll need them more than ever this year. That’s why Common Cause is beefing up our Election Protection program earlier than ever for a midterm year.

It’s a big bet to make – especially as our resources are stretched more thinly than ever. But every time I hear the latest news about MAGA’s plot to steal our democracy away from us, I don’t get mad. I don’t get hopeless. I want to take action.

Here’s how: it costs us around $50, start to finish, to get one additional volunteer on the ground for early voting through Election Day.

And remember, that one additional volunteer will be the difference between having a voice and going home in frustration for hundreds or even thousands of voters.

If you’re as worried as I am about the direction this country is heading, and want to do something right here and right now to change it, sponsor a volunteer for $50, or whatever you can give, with your first tax-deductible donation today.

Thanks for all you do,

The team at Common Cause

Are you clicking on this stuff, Daniel?

Daniel Solomon's avatar

I've been donating, if that's what you mean. I participate with Common Cause when they ask me....

I was very active during 2020 and 2024...

I'm still in discussion groups.

I'm thinking about publishing... I have a number of papers on other stuff, like Spanish lit and culture, music.I have an unpublished novel I could serialize.....

I'm expecting a war within AI...an AI game of Risk.

AI: Risk is a classic strategy board game of "Global Domination" where players command armies to conquer territories and eliminate opponents. Invented in 1957 by French filmmaker Albert Lamorisse (director of The Red Balloon), it was originally titled La Conquête du Monde (The Conquest of the World) before being released by Parker Brothers in 1959 as Risk.

In my town about 25,000 people, our Republican lead city council is pushing to have 3 data centers build

They just approved the first one against strong opposition and as soon as it passed my wife and I received texts

These text mentioned how great it was for the passage of this data center

These texts came a unknown source and by the morning the texts disappeared

At least 20 families have put their homes up for sale

The name of the town is Yorkville,Il and our wells are running dry which is forcing us to pipe water about 50 miles from Lake Michigan

You guessed it our water bills went up and soon the electric bills will as well

These data centers are going to put an additional strain and our water supplies

Feldman's avatar

Well, why don't the citizens in this town recall, impeach and vote out the "Republican lead city council" initiating this mess. Well, why don't they? Usually because they like it. So unless something changes get ready for much bigger bills of all kinds.

The National Security Data Base at Bluffdale UT, captures all electonic communications.

AI sniffs them at the speed of light

Palantir is a data base of everyone's information as well as national security info.

George Orwell would tell us "I told you so".

AI can be manipulated for "human experience" Use language that doesn't seem harmful or evil. It must be regulated because of human greed and evil. But these days "regulations" are considered "lib" thinking. The CON servatives and Epstein Billionaire class don't care about leveling the playing field. Technocracy all over the world using algorithm to impact decisions. Idiotic DATA centers that use too much power and water. I say Dem, INDEPENDENT Leadership better step up quickly and decisively if gain the "majority of awareness" And that is a big IF. Every day that goes by feckless leadership like Sen. Schumer and Rep. Jeffries bow to the master of their choice- PAC $,Lobbyists, folk customs, traditions, norms etc. Easy AI capture. No doubt a delusional, deranged, scum bag, corrupt felon in office will be gleefully arm in arm with AI.

Before there was AI, there was Putin and the KGB. After the wall came down, I was invited to give some lectures at Dresden Technical University. During that and subsequent visits to work with the Saxon State government, I learned that all phone calls in and out of Dresden had to be monitored by somebody. Whatever was said was written down and stored. All phone lines came through Putin's Soviet intel office along the Elbe River. If nobody was available to listen in when you wanted to make a call, you had to wait until there was. It took several years to rewire the entire city post-war phone system.

AI can replace Putin's antique surveillance network, parse the conversations, store them, and soon be used to identify domestic terrorists (aka liberals), and neuter their influence via gulags and just plain old Soviet defenestration. AI can know every movement without spies tailing people by using those security cameras that infest every city. AI has the potential to turn American Democracy into a fascist, Orwellian horror where we humans become the Elois and the MAGA government becomes our Morlochs. AI has the potential to turn us all into cattle, as robotics and AI do all the work necessary to sustain human life. Human intelligence will become obsolete.

Just look at the size and scope of these new AI "factories" where our every thought and action will be stored under the watchful eye of the billionaire Techbros. Of course, this transformation of human life cannot happen without the collusion of government officials. So far, that collusion has been moving towards the AI-ization of America without significant resistance. Maybe we really envy life as cattle?

"·.... Demanding that social media outlets publish their algorithms so we can see how we’re being manipulated.

Thom, I think this will not work. Who will analyse and determine how the bias is determined/programmed? These are very complex entities. Also, the products will be copied and modified to be worse than the original. I think only AI can regulate AI. And that does scare the crap out of me.

Imagine:: young people ten years from now: plagiarized or had AI write their papers, never read a book, communicated only online , never had a face to face conversation, dated and married only virtually. Due to technology warfare, satellites fall from the sky, the worldwide web crashes irreparably. Simeone suddenly realizes that they are completely illiterate. What is left, what comes next? Ditch your phones, turn off your tv’s, stop

Schroling, find a human companion, begin to create a real life. The time is now, or is it already over…

Only you can change the future, one mind at a time…

Just watched "A Man Called Otto", and there's a scene where somebody falls onto railroad tracks. Everybody just stands there with their phones out recording it and nobody (until Tom Hanks gets mad and does something) thinks to actually get involved and help him. It was far too real.

I read "Technofeudalism." We have survived worse: The first life on Earth lived without oxygen — in fact, oxygen killed it. Yet life adapted and turned its poison into fuel. We’re living through the same kind of transition now.

“I’ve lived my life at the bottom of the top ten percent. I can witness the suffering in the bottom ninety, but I can’t feel it — and neither can the media or the politicians. That’s the real divide in America: the difference between those who live precarity and those who only talk about it.”

I fear that I admire AI about as much as I admire any person or anything that has a position of status in the Trump administration. I would give my left arm for a good strong political maven to come along and tear his entire system apart in full. With duty-serving Americans who believe in the Constitution tearing down the facade they have built with their lies and misrepresentations. I abhor them all. Some, more than others. But it's time to end this charade and reinstall a democratic society built on equality and non-AI intelligence. I know the people are out there and I know they'd do their utmost to uphold what we have left of the American Dream! Thank you , as always Thom. I so admire your work and what I believe is your persona. I'm just 2 weeks younger than you and It's so good to have someone of equal time spent on earth to look up to and share my beliefs!

The good news a) most are now fully aware there is an actual sexploitation Epstein Class, and b) most now know that they are Billionaires, billionaire corp.s, and billionaire wannabes and sycophants.

Hopefully, laissez-faire capitalism, and the attendant obscene power concentrations, are a) being seen for what they are (socially & ethically destructive), and b) being seen for their complete disjunction with democracy. If you can buy elections & laws, it is not a democracy.

We do NOT presently have a democracy.

In short, unregulated capitalism (and it is damn hard to control it for long) will ALWAYS destroy democracy. And regulated capitalism will always do its best to fight any regulation, and eventually succeeds in mergers, monopoly, collusion, misrepresentation, and destruction of all fair markets.

One needs to polish much of the crap off the word socialism (and onto 'free' capitalism).

One needs to better TEACH the dangers of greed and power concentrations.

Mark Shields's avatar

"Make no mistake: AI isn’t just another “new technology.” It’s power, scaled. "

And power focused and consolidated in the hands of (a subset of?) the Epstein class.

And power to watch, AND to reach out and touch, or misinform, every person with a cell.

Sad but true. AI is already in the doctor's office with you, telling your doctors what they can and cannot do in terms of determining appropriate health care for you. The endless weaponized complexity and high costs are killing us.
