I just watched the PBS documentary “The Gilded Age” and realized that what happened then is in many respects what we are going through with “unaffordability. To call a spade a spade, it’s not so much high prices as low wages and inequality and decades of our trickle down economy (it’s really been GUSH UP). It seems to me that the Patriotic Millionares have hit the nail on the head with their recent advocacy of the American Stability Act involving taxing the rich, paying the people and spreading the power. If Democrats were to run on this plank in ‘26. The result would be a blow out blue wave. This is at the heart of the nearly universal complaint of inaffordability. It’s not so much high prices as lack of a living wage and equitability of sharing the wealth. Do Democrats have the guts to tell the truth? They will loose big donors but gain millions of voters, many of which will never have voted before. What do you think?
Louise, is this your song? And who is performing it?
