I cannot afford to shut-up now. I have been speaking up for others and against the wrongs I have seen all my life.

They are coming for our voice and voting rights. I have to get out there for my own sake this time. I'll be there for you too. See you in the streets, brothers and sisters.

I think Trump and the gang are outnumbered by several million.

Richard Kiefer's avatar

Unfortunately, sheer numbers are often outmatched by planning, blind passion ( inflamed by misinformation,) common united purpose and perseverance, all of which the Trumplicans seem to have in abundance.

Add to that, virtual control of the government and media, unlimited funds, and sycophants with their finger already on the trigger, and you have - for the enemies of democracy - the almost perfect storm. I hope my meager contributions help turn the tide.

Well said. Yes, American democracy does face a perfect storm. In addition to the elements you list, there is the motivation behind all this. Not only greed but fear. Neoliberal economics has run out of road, too much inequality and associated personal debt, economic reform is round the political corner, this is why the oligarchs hired Trump, MAGA dictatorship in all but name is the plan. Even the mass of Trump opponents are sleep walking.

If there’s a silver lining here, it’s that the gestapo foolishly chose once again to abuse the good people of Minneapolis, a populace not easily intimidated and more than ready to resist. Still, it’s alarming that the thugs have been able to score convictions anywhere in the U.S.A. Anyone anywhere convicted of or formally charged with what amounts to citizenship should receive exoneration and substantial punitive damages.

Tom,I don't think this is the way "nazi" gov'ts work.

This is a playbook used by the cult I was in for 46 years. This group used thought police, fair gaming and using the court system to intimidate whistleblowers who exposed the cults crimes. And several rich cult members have supported Trump with big donations and they now have positions in his administration. No doubt Trump is using this cult’s policies to further support his fascist activities. What Thom has warned about is very real. I lived it for decades. When I was in the cult it was 24/7 fear. I finally got out and when Trump was elected the similarities to the cult were uncanny. I directed a film about my experience called Brothers Broken. It’s out now on Amazon and Apple TV. We can overcome this repression if we all work together and vote the sociopaths out of office.

I'll look for your film right now.

It is notable that the media, even the progressive media, does not mention Trump's and MAGA's obvious preference for fascism, demontrated by their war on antifascism.

In Germany people, like Sophie Scholl and he White Rose Society, were guillotined for being anti fascist. Our turn coming up.

Fallbeil is the German term for the guillotine, literally meaning “falling axe” or “drop‑axe.”

It refers specifically to the German-designed execution machine used extensively under the Nazi regime.

A Fallbeil was a shorter, mostly metal, redesigned version of the French guillotine, engineered for speed and efficiency. It was the primary method of state execution in Nazi Germany, used to kill approximately 16,500 people between 1933 and 1945.

German redesign: More compact and metal‑framed compared to the tall wooden French model.

Mechanism: A weighted blade dropped vertically to decapitate the condemned.

Speed: Executioners like Johann Reichhart emphasized reducing the time from placement to decapitation to 3–4 seconds.

Industrialized use: By 1942–45, executions were carried out at a rate of one per minute in some prisons.

Hitler ordered in 1936 that all executions by beheading in Germany be performed only with the Fallbeil, and had 22 central execution sites equipped with them.

It became a central tool of the Volksgerichtshof (People’s Court), used against political dissidents such as Sophie and Hans Scholl of the White Rose.

Why it matters

The Fallbeil is one of the most chilling symbols of Nazi “legal” terror—an industrialized, bureaucratic killing machine used to eliminate resistance with mechanical efficiency.

There was a program on the History Channel,"Hitlers Executioner",, Johann Reichart This guy actually designed the Fallbeil. He executed thousands, not the only executioner, and was used by the allies,to hang the Nuremberg criminals.

William, the progressive media if there is such an animal is feckless and afraid.

It's gross. One advantage they have is that it is diffuse, slow-moving, and this is a huge country.

We have advantages too, but theirs are powerful.

They are trying to criminalize political activity, which is to say that they could just as well declare Congress a conspiracy and have them all arrested. Any people who organize to do anything that Trump and the oligarchy doesn't like is subject to arrest, a brief show trial, and some combo platter of imprisonment and torture.

Also these prosecutions are being carried out by lawyers. If the legal profession responded with disbarment proceedings against them, it would have much the same deterrent effect as the bogus prosecutions are intended to have.

I googled - how many germans/nazis were actually prosecuted after the war. I found some pretty sad information - such as:

Historian exposes Germany’s minute number of convictions for Nazi war crimes

In new book, Mary Fulbrook notes that while up to a million actively took part in genocide, only a few thousand were ever sentenced to more than 3 years in prison.

So...What does this say about accountability? Anyone can google research about the results of accountability for nazis and germans after WW2. This is a big concern for me.

So . . . We are a 100% owned, Client state—a Vassal state of the Russian mafia.

Brace yourself.

If the Scary, Orange Bisexual [SOB] in the WH is getting bi-weekly orders from his Daddy Vladdie, the inexplicable, double-tap headshot executions will probably begin in D.C.

Oh, and sporadic defenestrations, too.

This . . . this, this "Weekend at Bernie's" utter disgrace, this half-German lump, this half-Scottish, diapered turd, this pie-faced grandson of a draft-dodging whore-monger, this in-name-only husband of an Epstein-servicing whore's zombie-Republican't party must be derailed and defeated.

Thrashed. But soundly, in the midterms.

The obvious issue is the language is vague in the NSPM, so it can be arbitrarily enforced. What is “anti-Christian” anyway? Is it the atheist who simply disagrees with the conventional belief on God? Is it the member of a non-Christian religious group that presents a different interpretation to the age old questions pertaining to who and what we are, to why we are here, etc. Is it the member of a “liberal” mainstream Christian church that interprets the Bible through the lens of love, acceptance and tolerance and which questions the Christian Nationalist interpretation of religion and its role in our public sphere? If I proclaim a view that insists the Framers deliberately separated religion from state, while promoting free exercise that does not infringe on the rights of others who believe differently, am I a danger to the public when I have lived peacefully, worked and worshipped in my preferred way here for 70+ years, never once committing an act that violates the freedom of others around me who may worship differently? Who makes the determination that I am or am not dangerous? Or, take any other issue that is open to varying viewpoints and interpretations. I like the notion, not consistently practiced, that reasonable people elect representatives who discuss and debate within their legislative house to hash out Bills that address issues and concerns that impact Americans. We give and we take and this very process moderates our legislative bodies away from extremes and maintains the rule of law.

this is neo-fascism, the spirit of the country communes with the great leader, who reports back who belongs, to not belong is to be guilty.

We have 4 +/- months to get our collective bodies together .. voting them .. you know, the orange people, out !

lara keller's avatar

Sure, but also need to plan a response to a fascist coup. Most likely scenario is a false flag terrorist attack on American soil that dwarfs 9/11. Trump's pal Putin got into power by killing Russians in their sleep, and pinning the 1999 Apartment Bombings on Chechens. This would be a crazy conspiracy theory for a normal president. Trump is a malignant narcissist, a diagnosis shared with Hitler and Stalin, what is crazy, what is possible, needs to be redefined. Still waiting for opponents to Trump to get with this. Short is the time left America.

Yesterday, it was in Ohio, where Progressive Party HQs were broken into, so that those voters will not be sent ballots - and worse. Who knows what other ulterior purposes will be served by Trump's thugs having the names of those Progressive voters?

Creating antifa, a non-existent organization, as the boogeyman is pretty smart. It is so vague that every opponent of the regime can be labeled as being a member, or at least (to use an old Cold War term) a "fellow traveler" who goes along with the group. And since it is not there you cannot prove that you are not a sympathizer. Stalin did something similar by labeling and then executing those he called "wreckers" or "Trotskyites". And Orwell laid this out in "1984". The joke of course is that this term means "Anti-Fascist", which was the whole U.S. war effort from 1941-45.

The NSPM-7 definition of domestic terrorism could be just as easily used to describe every unAmerican thing the current administration has done. I hope Democrats remember that and use it if they ever recover a congressional majority.

Everyone seems to be missing the point here. The intent is to scare as many people as they can from protesting and voting. That's how they stay in power. The only answer is to flood the election polling stations with people and force them to allow you to vote, provided you meet the standards. Such as being native born or naturalized, and have or recently had a valid voter registration that Trump may have invalidated just ahead of the election. Otherwise, they will win and it won't matter if they won legally or illegally. We need to show these mafiosos that we the people run this country, not Trump's mafia family and associates.

lara keller's avatar

When you write "scare" do you mean this is a bluff?

Terrance Ó Domhnaill's avatar

No. They really do want to scare as many democrat leaning voters away from the polls next November as they can. They plan to continue working on eliminating mail in voting and removing millions from the voter rolls as well. The MAGA republicans are running scared of a blowout and they're going to pull out all the stops to win.

lara keller's avatar

Although Trump is not on the ballot for midterms, a party does badly if the president is below 50% approval. Trump is 20% under water. Current voter suppression in America according to academics reduces turnout by about 2%. States are responsible for the administration of federal elections. If Trump could get the SAVE act past a divided Congress, it would still be unconstitutional , and it would not be enforced in non MAGA Republican areas. Trump must have another more extreme strategy planned.

Terrance Ó Domhnaill's avatar

They're working on it. DHS secretary Markle sort of let the cat out of the bag a little bit recently by telling a reporter that they may (and I stress the word May), deploy ICE paramilitaries to certain polling stations around the country that they think might be a problem with illegal immigrants trying to vote. Which we all know is B.S.

What Trump and Miller are trying to do, is scare as many people as they can from voting, and removing as many other voters in primarily democrat leaning districts around the country. Either by stripping them off the voting rolls or by some other means, like doing away with or severely restricting mail in voting.

Failing that, they are also amassing a legion of lawyers to contest the election results in districts that may have close votes and the democrats won.

The only way I know to circumvent most of that, is for polling stations to have local police stationed there to stop the feds from intimidating voters. The states will have to fight off lawsuits to stop Trump from getting his hands on voter registrations, and the people will all have to get out and vote as if their democracy depends on it, because it does. If the U.S. can convince 90% or more of the registered voters to go and vote, we might have a chance in taking back our government. The only way we win, is by showing Trump that the government is still determined by we the people, by the people, for the people. Only we can bring him down. Not the current feckless congress and corrupt supreme court.

lara keller's avatar

Trump may not get very far with established “normal” methods as the US voting system is highly complex and decentralized. State Republicans come up with some devious scheme, and there is instantly a counter maneuver from the Democrats. The voter base of the Democrat party has changed a lot since Clinton, with more informed Democrat voters not easily put off.

Even if Trump gets the SAVE act past the Senate by forcing Senate Republicans to break the filibuster, it is unlikely to do much good. The act is unconstitutional because ID requirements would then be the harshest in the world, and would amount to a poll tax on voting, creating financial and administrative hurdles to voting, that given the changes in voter bases of the two parties, would backfire on many MAGA voters. It would be challenged in the courts, and not enforced. Trump using the Act to challenge elections MAGA loses, would produce the same backlash as a coup.

Taking over state administered federal elections in blue cities would be of the scale of the fraud required. This is fundamentally against the constitution, even the current SCOTUS would not swallow it. Additionally Trump seems to be doing everything for MAGA to lose the midterms,. which suggests he has a darker plan.

He needs a national xenophobic tidal wave to create his rigged so-called "strong elections". A 9/11 event that is orders of magnitudes greater, where SCOTUS gives the executive a free pass to deal with the emergency. Where voices saying illegal immigrants hardly ever vote in elections are drowned out.

A false flag attack using a smuggled small highly enriched uranium bomb exploded in a crowded city, would kill 200,000+ people, and change America overnight. This scale of killing could not be done, without a foreign accomplice who runs a capable secretive autocracy.

The US is having an on-off war with Iran, for no convincing reason. Trump has unrecorded conversations with his long term colleague Putin.

The exchange might be “Trump: The deal is this Vlad, you give me the biggest explosion ever seen in an American city, that nuclear forensics can pin on Iran, and I give you Eastern Europe and friendly patriotic (neofascist) regimes in Western Europe that we share. Putin: A good shepherd knows he has to sacrifice some sheep. We have already created such a device using Iranian technology and materials we are on record exchanging with Iran. Just let me know where and when you want the killing done.”

And why is Stephen Miller still around? Do we have no guts?

Terrance Ó Domhnaill's avatar

For the same reason that Pete Hegseth is still around. They make Trump feel good when he looks in the mirror.
