It’s beginning to look like we should at least consider the notion of prosecuting and punishing the powerful. Just sayin’.

imhumanru's avatar

Nah! Don't be silly. Might as well try to prosecute God.

Why This Moment Matters

What is happening now should concern every American. When a government decides that one group can be denied basic rights and due process, the danger does not stop with that group. History has shown this again and again.

Today it may be immigrants. Tomorrow, the definition of “them” can change.

That is why we must defend human rights, due process, transparent elections, and accountable government—not only for people we agree with, but for everyone.

The Warning Signs

We need more Cassandras—not voices of doom, but people willing to recognize the warning signs, seek the truth, stand up for one another, and spread hope while there is still time to change what happens next.

Democracy Must Be Verifiable

Voting is secret. Counting is public.

Government power must always be accountable—and wherever possible, independently verifiable.

A Call to Act

See the signs. Keep our humanity. Defend our democratic republic.

If you would like to understand why I believe a warning can be an act of hope and love, rather than despair, I invite you to read The Cassandra Series, beginning with Part 1 of 15. It is a journey through history, elections, truth, verification, and what each of us can still do to help protect our democratic republic: https://johnrbrakey.substack.com/p/the-cassandra-syndrome-will-our-constitutional

For the last 22 years, I have served as executive director of AUDIT USA, an election integrity organization focused on public, verifiable election

Didn't Trump accused Hillary of using bleach in order to delete her "treasonous" emails?

There isn't enough bleach, a big enough shredder or room at the bottom of the Potomac for get rid of the evidence of this "hugely biggest corruption since the beginning of corruption".

It's typical for these scoundrels to signal the crimes they want to commit by removing the regulation, or regulator, pertinent to that crime. Is capitalism so decrepit a philosophy that it no longer succeeds for its practitioners unless it is entirely a scam? Concerning the expected orgy of money-laundering, I'm reminded of the line from Macbeth, "Out, damned spot!", which is soon followed by the line, "What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account?"

It seems that everywhere a serious wrong needs to be righted, there is a corresponding lock on that door, making it impossible to move forward with the truth.

In 2008, the effing guy sold a six‑acre Palm Beach estate to Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev for about $95 million . . . an insane 130% markup from the roughly $41.35M Donald paid just four years earlier.

This was the same estate J. Epstein was about to buy. Until Jeffrey's "Best Friend" backstabbed him.

This fat joker, this orange bum, makes John Gotti look like a small-time hooligan.

Rename the White House the Why House until his dismissal. [Why "Why"? Race Hate.]

The rebuilding that will be required is going to cost a lot of blood, sweat, and tears and will take a decade or more. Where is today’s FDR?

Rules made under one administration can and should be reversed under succeeding administrations. . That they don't is suspicious, suspicious indeed.

And you know what? The existing USA is also real. Somebody needs to rid us of the evil leadership that has taken over and it is also real, real, real. Sadly, just as real as the Russian oligarcy. Do I fear the pain and death facing us living here in the USA? You bet! And it is so sad that so many innocent neighbors, friends, relatives, and huge numbers of other people are going to suffer, die, lose everything they have, and all the people they know & love because of the inevitable civil war we're going to have, make no mistake. Why do we have to have a civil war? People everywhere seem drawn to suicide.

Will I be around to witness the bloody end .... probably not, because I am 84 years oge, and will likely to be long gone when the stupid result occurs.

Al Capone was sent to prison for tax evasion rather than for the many deaths he was responsible for by gun violence. But Trump and the Republicans have also eliminated the mechanisms for that kind of justice to happen through the federal system. Maybe there can be more state prosecutions of the corrupt Republicans who are benefitting, as well as of the Trump crime family. Or maybe the only option is some version of taking the law into our own hands, mass rebellion, and waiting for unpredictable but inevitable stochastic actions to result from their exposure. The people who are hurting may be figuring out who has robbed them blind and put the hurt on them. Or not.

Trump's sycophants have so corruted the justice system, that there is no chance of real Justice, if by a mircle he or one of his sycophants is not President in 2029.

Would a not Trump president have the stones to reverse every one of his executive orders, to clean the Aegean stable of the manure that Trump has left behind, meaning fire ever single oneof the civil servants and appointees that he has embedded.

Biden could have done it, Biden should have done it, but Biden didn't do, because Biden was like all Democratic politicians either corrupt, cowardly or complicit.

This is what happens (one of the what happens) when you put the mafia in charge of the government. An organization, like the tRump Organization, that has created their own business model based on criminal activity, will naturally get rid of all laws that inhibit their schemes if given the power to do so. And that is happening in the US today.

Al Capone was just a bit player compared to the tRump mafia and its billionaire support group. It is not surprising that Stinky wants to give himself immunity against tax audits - after all the murders, theft, extortion, bribery, and other criminal activities, the only way the government brought down some of the worst mobsters was through tax evasion prosecutions.

Fascist Republicans Bribery: A Way To Get Votes

Corruption. To what end?

If there’s a company that gets a no bid contract to, say, paint a reflecting pool and the result is not so good so the job has to be repeated but you get paid for that as well, that’s just doing business. Right?

So the government who gave the no bid contract is not on the hook. The contractor is not on the hook. Who is left footing the bill? Taxpayers. That’s you and me. WE the People. Corporations get big tax breaks. Pardons for CEO's.

The fiscally conservative fascist Republicans who have taken over government have decided that accountability is not important and that awarding contracts, taking care of big $$$ donors, and FEMA relief to red states over blue states is just a way that the government for WE the People should operate. Now Cheeto is looking to push for another tax break for his wealthy donors. You know, it’s going to trickle down $$.

There’s another name for this. It’s called corruption. To what end?

Buying votes. Unfortunately for the corrupt fascists contractors, owners of companies that get pardons and tax breaks, and some red states don’t make up the electorate. Hugary's Orban found that out. WE the People are watching and there will be accountability at the ballot box. The day of reckoning is coming. French revolution 2.0 American style is coming and the political beheadings will begin.
