“White Privilege Card: Trumps everything” !!!!! What the fuck is this? Seriously?

I watched those servicemen booing and cheering and I now have serious doubts that these men would obey their oaths to the constitution. This fascist fuhrer is creating his personal army of stormtroopers. Why the hell is no one condemning this? Where is Mattis, Milley, Kelly?

Those who put their faith in the military are engaging in wishful thinking or self deluded.

Any Generals that are not Trump loyalists have been or will be forced to retire. The general in charge of the LA Task force (Maj Gen Scott Sherman) has ordered that the troops can detain, not arrest, protesters. Detain is semantics. detention is arrest

That the 82nd Airborne even screened and vetted the troops to back up Trumps ridiculous performance, means that the military has been co opted.

Is there anyone who really believes that these troops will not fire on fellow citizens? All it takes is the sound of one shot being fired (witness Kent State).

The military is by definition, conservative. It is also monastic and tribal, cloistered and group think

Any and all officers from 2nd Lt to General or Ensign to Admiral, will fall into line, either as careerists, or as ideologues (the service academies have been pumping out right wing Christian ideoloques for decades. As an example Annapolis and West Point have voluntarily purged their libraries of books that the anti DEI and racist right have banned.

I don't think the demographics of the California guard is the same as the Marines. I don't know it as a fact but I bet the California guard is mostly minority.

On June 9, the California Military Department held an awareness ceremony at Joint Force Headquarters to observe Pride Month.

True Daniel, but as you well know, that the individual troop is simply a weapon, he or she has no ability to make a personal decision, given an order they either obey or suffer the consequences.

I happen to see the faces of some of the guard, and. some of the appear to be Hispanic, but that is not surprising. Trump has had a surprising amount of support among Hispanics, and I don't mean the Bautistiano's. They had a thing on TV, that Starr County, TX, which is the most majority Hispanic county in Texas was also majority Trump

The Rep from Texas 34 is Mayra Flores, she, herself, is a naturalized illegal immigrant, and is even more far right than Trump. Trumps position is transanctional, hers is ideological.

Mr. Farrar, those who believe our military would never fire on their fellow citizens should read about what happened in Detroit during summer of 1967. I was a social worker there at the time.

While out in my backyard I looked up and saw almost two dozen helicopters fly over my house. They were so low, the heavily armed soldiers in them and I, looked into each other's eyes. Those soldiers were Airborn from Washington D.C. They flew to the area of East Kercheval, not far from my house. There they disgorged from the helicopters and fired upon my fellow Detroit citizens. As soon as I heard that sound of gunfire; I jumped into my car and headed toward the noise, to bear witness to what those soldiers were doing. The State police had cordoned off the area so nobody could clearly see what was happening. But, what I heard scared the devil out of me. Listening to the terrified screaming of people watching as their neighbors, friends and relatives are shot dead, is itself an experience never forgotten.

The official death toll was 43. But I do no believe that number is accurate. I had been an employee of the Harper hospital central supply department before I became a social worker. My former colleagues at Harper told me the morgue was so full of corpses that they were overflowing onto gurneys in the hallway. Harper was the largest and oldest hospital in Detroit. There were several other large hospitals in the city with morgues as well. My suspicion is that there were far more deaths than 43. I would guess them to number in the hundreds.

After the insurrection ended; I witnessed many bullet holes in the walls of the apartments of my clients as I conducted my interviews with them. During the shooting, I saw rubber-treaded tanks on the streets of my hometown; firing tracer rounds at the buildings in more than one neighborhood.

To those who may find your claims about military behavior hard to believe, I say: believe! I saw it. I know you were career, combat military; so you are well acquainted with the behavior from the inside.

Wow, I know of instances where the military have been employed. For instance in Little Rock, Governor Faubus, activated the Arkansas National Guard, to keep those kids out of Little Rock High, then Eisenhower federalized the guards, had them stand down, and sent in the 101st Airborne, to protect the students.

In Selma, the National Guard was activated to PROTECT the marchers, not oppress them.

e U.S. Army deployed troops to Detroit in 1967 to help quell the Detroit riot that began on July 23rd. The military was deployed after Governor Romney requested the National Guard and President Lyndon B. Johnson authorized the use of federal troops. Specifically, the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions were deployed, along with the Michigan National Guard. These troops occupied and patrolled the city, particularly the African American sections and downtown business district.

The Use of violence and resulting deaths, has been covered up. I've been watching various shows on MSNBC, they mention various times when the National guard was activated (always by the Governor or at his request), but no mention of the 67 riots.

The riot resulted in 43 deaths, 1,189 injured, over 7,200 arrests, and more than 400 buildings destroyed. The scale of the riot was the worst in the United States since the 1863 New York City draft riots during the American Civil War, and it was not surpassed until the 1992 Los Angeles riots 25 years later.

The 1967 Detroit riots, also known as the 12th Street Riot or the Detroit Uprising, were sparked by a police raid on an unlicensed bar in a Black neighborhood. However, the underlying causes were decades of racial segregation and discrimination in housing, employment, and education, along with police brutality and white flight from the city.

Nothing has changed, except inexplicably a lot of young black males are now Trump humpers. I have a theory for that. The theory is psychosexual.

The above from AI generative.

Mr. Farrar, your response to my comment is accurate, officially. The police raided a blind pig on 12th street wherein the men were drinking and gambling after hours. A minor crime. They were all Black men. Two of them were young guys who had just returned from VietNam. They were decorated heroes. The White police [in those days] arrested them all. That neighborhood was in my social work district. I had clients there, knew the neighborhood well. Diana Ross grew up there. The city, which was mostly Black citizens, exploded in anger. The Twelfth Street raid was simply one bridge too far.

Governor George Romney wanted President Johnson to send in the troops and activate the national guard. But LBJ wisely asked Romney to first make a public request for him to do it. This was the law. So, Romney did it. Although I never supported either Romney, father or son, I believe both of them to be honorable men.

My friends in the National guard at that time told me they had orders from their commanding officers to not load their Garand Rifles. No bullets in guns. This was certainly not the case with the AirBorn soldiers. The local police behaved reasonably well, under the circumstances. They did, however use the chaos to play catchup with many local hoodlums they had been after for a long time. I do not recall any official or unofficial instances of Detroit police murdering citizens during the insurrection.

The killing in the Algiers Motel Incident was done by a private security guard.

Brings to mind Stonewall, and the continuous persecution of non white hetero's in our society. This is the real legacy of this country, been with us from the beginning, and only grown worse.

And this country has or had such great promise, alas we are plagued with demagogues, secular and sectarian

Here is a piece of info that we need to know. The Commander of Ft Bragg, all the officers under him, that conveyed his instructions and orders, and all of the troops in their maroon berets behind Trump, yelling and cheering are in violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ)

Article 92 of the UCMJ covers "Failure to Obey a Lawful Order," and Article 134 covers "General Articles." These articles can be used to address violations of DoD Directive 1344.10 which prohibits members from wearing their uniform or using government property during political activities.

Flash.

.

Waiting for USDC Charles Breyer to rule:

"The president claimed there was a “rebellion” against the U.S. government, citing unspecified “incidents of violence and disorder.”

However, the statute specifies that orders issued under it “shall be issued through the governors of the States or, in the case of the District of Columbia, through the commanding general of the National Guard of the District of Columbia.”

In its lawsuit, California alleged that recent anti-ICE protests couldn’t constitute a rebellion and that the Trump administration illegally circumvented Newsom’s authority as commander-in-chief of the California National Guard. The state argued that, at the very least, the statute requires governors to be consulted on calling Guard troops into federal service.

The DOJ, represented by Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate, argued in the hearing Thursday that the judge should not issue an order because the courts have no authority to review the president’s determination of what an invasion, rebellion or inefficient regular resources are.

The judge seemed alarmed by that argument, saying it seemed antithetical to a democracy and closer to a monarchy.

“How is that different than what a monarchist does? He says certain things, he finds certain things, he does certain things. That’s not where we live,” the judge said. “We live in response to a monarchy.”

"After the judge asked the DOJ whether orders were issued through Newsom, Shumate argued that governors are only “conduits” for the president’s order, meaning they don’t need to be consulted.

"To this, Breyer questioned why lawmakers would even have included governors in the statute if that were the case.

“I’m trying to figure out how something is ‘through’ somebody if in fact you didn’t give it to him,” Breyer said, noting that the record reflects that orders were only sent to military officials.

"Breyer appeared poised to deny California’s request that his order also address Trump’s deployment of 700 Marines to Los Angeles. He recognized the state’s concern that using marines could violate Posse Comitatus but didn’t want to speculate about what the government might do and would rather address a “real” violation."

One more time, this is a distraction. The war we can win is in the senate. Trump can fall like Humpty Dumpty if we prioritize pressuring Congressional Republicans. https://jerryweiss.substack.com/

Still waiting to see what's happening to the BIG CRAPPY bill, which is his number one priority.

IMHO Trump looks nutsy koo koo and needs to be evaluated for involutary civil commitment. A discussion of his mental state should be the predicate for every tactical policy decision he's been making. The media should be asking: IS HE NUTS?

All we can do is take advantage of what we have. I'm grateful for any substantiation of Trump's mens rea.

What's happening with the senate parlimentarian? Senate Republicans are expected to closely follow the guidance of parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough as they embark on the “Byrd bath” in the coming weeks, with noncompliant provisions sometimes referred to as “Byrd droppings.”

What's happenng with stuff like Medicaid cuts, that undermine his support in red states?

There also will be a trial in LA -- a hearing today, and maybe in Omaha -- that can cut this off. Newsom filed a complaint.

I'm hoping that there are Califorinia Congressional Republicans -- there are 9 of them-- that know the rationale for this -- danger of invasion by a foreign nation; there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the government of the United States -- is BS and will step forward.

Call Homan to the stand. Local Republican politicians.Employees from the court house to show there is "no clear and present danger" going to work.

I don't know this as a fact, but I bet the protesters have been infiltrated like the crowds were during the George Floyd protests. He who smelled it dealt it. https://www.congress.gov/116/meeting/house/110775/documents/HHRG-116-JU00-20200610-SD019.pdf

I meant persuasive.

Trump at Ft. Bragg. As a leading Confederate general, Braxton Bragg (1817–1876) earned a reputation for incompetence, for wantonly shooting his own soldiers, and for losing battles. This public image established him not only as a scapegoat for the South's military failures but also as the chief whipping boy of the Confederacy.

If anything, Bragg was the model for F Troop. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F_Troop

Arlington WAS the Lee plantation. In the south, Lee is venerated and practically every county has a Lee highway, a school named for him, staues in his honor.

But in some places, like Abingdon, VA, where I heard cases, the local hero is Joseph Johnson. Whereas Lee sacrificed his own men, Gen. Johnson tried to exhaust the North and force peace by preserving his army. The Lee (and worse Grant) motto was the mission before the men..

Lee, on the other hand, was known for his aggressive and audacious tactics. As Thom said, Lee killed more Americans than Hitler. More than Khruschev. More than King George III, Ho Chi Mihn, or Kim Il Sung. He killed more Americans than we’ve lost in every war since the American Revolution, combined. He was the largest mass murderer of Americans in our nation’s history.

So many apt comments here, I scarcely have anything to add. With their disreputable behavior, maybe it serves the South right to name bases in their states after Confederate generals. Then I get this email for the VA, bribing me to watch the Trump birthday parade.

The comment was made that the troops attending the rally were vetted, "no fatties" and for Trump Loyalty. I saw at least three black airborne troopers in the crowd., but it is enough that there are Trump humping G.I.'s who will surely gladly turn their guns on fellow Americans. Imagine, if you can, the percentage of Trump Humping Marines. I will estimate 90% or more.

AI Overview

Operation Jade Helm 15 was a military training exercise conducted by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command (ARSOF) in 2015, spanning several states, including Texas, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico. While described as a routine exercise to prepare Special Operations Forces for domestic and foreign threats, it became the subject of widespread conspiracy theories, with the right wing suggesting it was a covert operation to institute martial law.

I was involved in military planning, often, and Exercises are held to iron out command an control issues, with lessons learned.

Jade Helm was not a covert operation, but a command and control exercise. One that lessons learned can be used by all administrations.

And the lessons learned are used to train and deploy troops, like what was one to the Marines from 29 Palms. They were moved close to LA and then provided training. I would like to know the syllabus of that training.

It figures that psychopath TRump and his cult would want to keep the sadistic leaders of the Civil War held in high esteem. Pain is their game.

It also tracks that he wants to divide the military. It's interesting that they gave the troops a choice to appear. I think the ones that did were not exactly enthusiastic. It was pathetic, really.

Another mind-blowing thing happened with Tulsi and her visit to Hiroshima. Please take time to view her version of why we should not get in a nuclear war. It is straight out of Putin's playbook. I wonder if he sent her a script. She gave it a very "flat" delivery. Lack of emotional expression can indicate psychopathy too.

Trump's first insurrection failed because the military would not enable his takeover on Jan 6th. He now understands that he must neuter DOD if he is ever to reign supreme for life. His Achilles heel is that he is clueless about how to lead except by money, fear, and loathing. He does not understand things like honor, service orientation, and patriotism.

Trump has said that he presumes only losers enlist in the military, so all he thinks he has to do is focus on tearing down the officer corps to turn the military into his personal stormtroopers. He started by attacking military meritocracy. First, he put a failed reservist National Guard Major in charge of the military who was separated from service for serial bad judgment. That had to demoralize the Generals and Admirals. His next step was to order DOD to start firing women, Blacks, and sexual minorities in top leadership positions, claiming that they did not earn their promotions. With Hegseth in charge, Trump was sure that there would be no pushback from the brass over the firings.

Trump's use of Guard and military troops illegally to put down a phony insurrection in LA is a test of how well he is undermining resistance to his next insurrection. So far, he is getting away with what little South Korea impeached their president for – turning the military against the citizens.

Not only do we need to unify into a coherent movement, we need to know what we have to do in order to have a chance to succeed— preferably lined out as a manifesto or some such — but we also need some centrality that will give this movement focus and direction.
