Far from the values that we purport to uphold, we shout "love me" to the very world that we continually exploit, denigrate, and conduct overt and covert acts of war against. If we are to recover from this ongoing avalanche of crimes and abuses, and prevent their recurrence, we will need to pursue, prosecute, and punish ALL of them. That looks like a daunting task, but it simply must be done. Attacking only the “worst” offenses would be like spot-welding a steel ship’s hull; the remaining gaps will allow leaks that sink the vessel. We’ve seen precious little enthusiasm for the effort from current Democratic leadership, which is why they must be replaced by people with the vision, dedication, and tenacity to see this through, whatever the obstacles.

As a Boomer, my, and most subsequent generations (aka every voting-age adult), learned in grammar and high school about Russian, German, and Italian fascist dictatorship governments. We learned that there were no civil rights, just oligarch rights. We learned that they all tried to expand their empires, and they all failed in disastrous wars. So whyizit that we all seem annoyed but act like it cannot happen here, when it already is happening? How do we rationalize our inaction?
