Articulate and true, Thom nicely explains why our courts are in cahoots with our dear ruler, DJT. It is all about personal wealth - grabbing it and keeping it. In America, it is every white Christian man for himself. The rest of you losers, take out a private equity loan or something.

As a disabled combat vet (2 tours in Nam), retired Navy Captain, and later civil servant, I feel insulted by the 250 shenanigans on the pro-Trump Mall this coming weekend. Trump has used a national celebration solely to flatter his ego and belittle his political enemies. That has nothing to do with celebrating national unity after 250 years of democracy. At least November opens a door to impeach Trump and end the use of our government for self-enrichment.

trump must NOT be impeached before jd vance is removed from office FIRST.

Tomonthebeach's avatar

The entire line of succession is corrupt. Vance lacks the experience and ruthlessness to rule. He can probably be impeached in time for aiding and abetting corruption.

Vance has been a co-conspirator with Thiel. So it makes sense that they have plans if we remove Trump. Vance is a bigger asshole than Trump and definitely can't be trusted with anything in the government. I'm sure whatever those two have cooked up isn't good. And Thiel has moved to Argentina recently as well. None good will come of having Vance in the Oval Office.

Russians, Arabs, and US oligarchs are just so many Johns.

DT is [like his wifey dearest: Mel Mel] a high-priced escort; he is a raving queen, a bisexual the Johns share like a communal bong, or a blunt. And one they WILL toke on in the future.

So what if Musk and Ozzy Murdoch et al convinced the voting dupes to re-marry this bi-whore they'd divorced 4 years earlier? Marry him-her AGAIN ?!!! . . . Jethro says "Duuuhh, okay."

What if, post-2nd marriage, Queenie went back to renting his-her [America's] figurative vagina to Russians, Arabs, and US oligarchs to restart the payoffs?

We're talkin' Teapot Dome on steroids. Hey, once a hooker, always a hooker. Right, Melly Mel?

For a good time, call Queen T, which decodes to - "For Robber Baron type [i.e., 0.001 %] Wealth, Call Crazy Donnie him/herself. Or come on down to Crazy Donnie's Emporium of Russian TVs, Arab Oil, and Oligarch Death Cult Paraphenalia at 1600 PA Ave., N.W. the WH."

When I lived in Indiana, and they still had Democrats in their government, the patronage system was officially discarded in favor of a professional, merit-based civil service. Years later, I moved to Illinois, which already had removed politics from civil service (a few no-show political appointments still occurred). When I worked for the State of Illinois, Republicans worked alongside Democrats to do the work we were all hired to do. We also knew that we would not be fired for being from the opposite party of the governor. Such policies promote continuity, consistency, and professionalism--the very "Deep State conspiracy" that rankles Trump's cankles. Now he needn't worry about administrative competence under his wicked regime.

Just watch how the Supremes contort themselves when the next Democratic president tries to fire all of Trump's thugs. Roberts and his five integrity challenged associates will find a way to prevent it. FYI: A not very scientific poll I conducted found that the characteristic most noted in the six Supremes best qualifies them to be . . . [drum roll] . . . pretzel makers. Coming in at number two was corkscrew peddlers.

Won't have to deal with these conservative judicially robed hacks if SCOTUS expansion happens.

Yes, but - and I'm a grasping simpleton here - if the faceless bureaucrats are not accountable to the President, who are they accountable to? Americans are disillusioned with democracy because they vote for Dems, then they vote for Repubs, then they vote for Dems; and nothing changes. Shouldn't the voters get what they voted for? And if they vote for a corrupt president, as they have, the system doesn't matter: we'll have a corrupt government. The solution is to vote for an honest president, and for that we need education and good parenting. Neither of which are much in vogue lately.

Certain cabinet positions are appointed by the president and approved by the senate, Other civil service are supposedly competitively hired, you must pass an exam and have the requisite background and education, for sensitive positions, you must obtain a security clearance, which means a background check, and if Top Secret, a thorough interview by the FBI of your acquaintances and family.

To fire a civil servant, not one appointed by the President, as they serve at his will, documentation is required, and it is exhaustive.

I had a GS-12 that was an insubordinate pain in the ass, he was pissed at some Sr NCO's and wanted me to discipline them, knowing full well that they would turn on me. He thought that he should be the boss, not a military officer, and had caused my predecessor problems as well.

To get rid of him, was a full time job, I had to give him legitimate job related tasks, and a time limit and document everything, dot all i's and cross all t's.

I succeeded, he put in for a transfer to Wright Patterson, Material Command, and became somebody elses problem.

The Roberts Court: The Nazi Republican Judicial Tool

Particularly at this time the in depth review of John Roberts (bit.ly/4gEvZDR) as chief justice, partnering with his Federalist appointees Alito and Thomas, joined at the hip by a McConnell manipulated Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett all join to create a Nazi Republican tool to judicially advance the CNPP(Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) agenda now commonly thought of as Project 2025.

These Nazi Republican judicially robed hacks have been planted over the years to direct the demise of voting rights(removal of Sections 2 and 5 of the VRA), reproductive health care for American women(Roe v Wade), allowing campaign contributions to flood the political zone(Citizens United decision), ensuring that the minority Nazi Republicans could be justified in holding power even if they didn’t fulfill their obligations to WE the People(GW Bush presidential campaign succeeds over Gore settled by a conservative SCOTUS without all the Florida ballots being counted), and most recently giving Cheeto a wanna be dictator full immunity from actions as president. Now on par for protecting big money from regulations JR and his partisan political judicial workarounds just gave the gift that keeps on giving by allowing Cheeto to fire anyone on any agency on a whim.

Now at the apex of their power the Nazi Republicans with all branches of government under their control, it’s now to power through holding onto power. So election subversion, interference, and if push comes to shove, a judicial ruling protecting the federal removal of ballots or voting machines. Time for SCOTUS expansion which should be one of the first on the agenda in 2029.

The corpocrats and their consultants currently bloviating hysterically about the rise of truly inspiring DSA candidates would presumably do as little as possible to stem our accelerating rush to fascism. President Joe Biden’s two worst mistakes - failing to expand the Supreme Court, and appointing Merrick Garland AG (the latter with corpocrat/consultant support) - were instrumental in delivering us to this rolling disaster and will forever be his tainted legacy. It would be a mistake every bit as egregious and even more derelict to re-empower establishment pols unwilling or unable to aggressively attack corruption with more than hand waving and strongly worded letters. Half measures and restrained moderation, centrist finding of common ground with fascists, will guarantee our doom.

Biden also limited the Ukraine striking force to only areas in Ukraine rather than allowing them to strike deep inside Russia. This limitation has prolonged the war but with Ukraine now hitting war manufacturing plants and destroying 25-40% of Russia's oil industry, Putin is compromised.

Tom Halstead's avatar

And he limited weapons to Ukraine, supported Netanyahu’s genocide, etc.

I’m glad you mentioned Biden’s support of Netanyahu’s Palestinian genocide. I would call that Biden’s most despicable action!

Expecting a court of partisan patronage appointees NOT to advocate for political patronage appointees? Well, not me. That is just in accord with how two parties have selected their candidates for legislative positions isn't it?

The fact that patronage causes complete breakdown of quality of services and stability of working professionals has not been a concern of either corrupt cartel party or their partisan stooges since Ronald Reagan put an end to good governance.

regarding the lack of policies on climate change and the environment...But trump and his oligarchikal repugnikans are doing a wonderful thing, by causing the premature deaths of millions. They are trying for billions to die, and they hope it is mostly poor, sick and vulnerable darker skinned people. It's a great thing they are doing, Thom, because the World is all effed up because there are Too Many Humans. Hmmm...But have they thought about who their servants will be when all those people are dead? (My mother-in-law would be ashamed of me for using sarcasm to make a point.)
