Louise's song is crazy good! Mountains of evidence, complicity in crime. We see you GOP! The Epstein cover-up iceberg. We are only seeing what is in plain sight. IMO Beware of those who are willing to shoot the messengers. "sick of it, want to move on etc. " We need to vet those who run for president or any political office. Pedophiles vs. Children. Mariantoon,

The GOP did choose a side, guns vs. children, before. What is to stop them at pedophiles vs. children?

Not every issue Jon Stewart takes on on his show is entirely clear, but when he goes on with a litany of school shootings and children’s lives lost to gun violence, it has a mighty impact. There is no wiggle room in the argument whether guns should be banished from society.

And Titanic TRump has finally hit HIS iceberg. Good one Mariontoon.

Girl trafficking, blackmail, money laundering, and espionage---he and Epstein had their own "businesses", but they were both doing it. Sometimes they worked together, pretty sure that's what The Epstein Files (especially the ones from the estate) will show. Also pretty sure TRump can't even BEGIN to remember everything they did.

"It's The Trump Multiverse Theory, we just happen to be living in the worse timeline!"-Trump character/ SNL/11/15/25

Even the turkey he pardoned "just happened to be a convicted sex criminal". They really nailed it this week. Michael Che said The Weekend Update might be his all time favorite.

The whiplash of TRump's positions concerning Epstein supports the multiverse idea. He is a psychopath. Nothing is going to change until the f*cking Republicans use the 25th Amendment. It would be another first.

"This is a crisis that’s tearing apart the soul of democracy itself. "-Thom. I would add "in America". Democracies around the world provide the basis for a decent life and fair elections. We don't have to figure it out---we helped them get started.

Not holding my breath on that 25th Amendment thing. The cowards in the Guardians Of Pedophiles TRump Cult will wait for us to take the House, impeach him, and maybe, just maybe actually convict him. THREE'S A CHARM! See you in the streets.

I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that the 25th Amendment will work.

But I do think it's possible to stop this.

I get stuff like this every day. https://www.impeachtrumpagain.org/

Al Green has repeatedly introduced resolutions to impeach Donald Trump, citing concerns over abuse of power, threats to democracy, and a disregard for the separation of powers and constitutional limits. His efforts have included accusations related to Trump's actions concerning military action in Iran, comments on racial issues, and his approach to the judiciary and federal court orders. While these resolutions have not led to impeachment, they have been the subject of votes, such as one in June 2025, which was ultimately tabled by the House.

Green is a speaker at Refuse the Regime in DC https://removalcoalition.org/

https://50501dc.com/event/remove-the-regime/

Arguments for impeachment:

Abuse of power: Green argues that Trump's actions have shown a pattern of abusing presidential power and that he has acted in a manner inconsistent with the Constitution.

Threat to democracy: He contends that Trump's conduct poses a threat to democratic institutions, specifically by undermining the separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary.

Constitutional violations: Green's resolutions have cited alleged violations of the Constitution, including the Fifth Amendment's due process clause.

Specific actions that prompted impeachment articles:

Military action: A resolution in June 2025 (H.Res.537) focused on the President's authority to take military action, particularly in Iran, without consulting Congress.

Racial comments: In July 2019, a resolution was filed following Trump's tweets telling four congresswomen of color to "go back" to where they came from.

Judicial and constitutional challenges: Articles of impeachment have been filed citing Trump's alleged condoning of the flouting of federal court orders and his denigration of federal judges.

Trump's latest ploy is to tell the Republicans to vote to release the files because he has nothing to hide, but of course Bondi won't because they are used as evidence in the investigation of Clinton, Summers, et al.. This isn't Trump, he is wily but not that smart, he has advisors who are two steps ahead. This gives cover to those vulnerable Republicans in the House that were going to vote yea on H.R. 4405, the Epstein files., with the full knowledge that the bill would not get past the Senate, and even if it did Trump would not have signed it, and there aren't 60 votes in the Senate to override his veto.

And if the bill is passed, and if Trump signs it, doubtful, it is only because Bondi has scrubbed it to sanitize Trump's name.

They have stalled long enough for a clean up on aisle 5.

Here we are again, pinning all of our hopes on the Mueller files, Jack Smith, Fannis Willis, E.Jean Carroll, Trumps felonies, Lettitia james, this time we got him....

How much longer are we going to rely on non existent institutions and procedures to rid ourselves of this stink.

Why do you think he has redone 1600 Pennsylvania Ave in his image? It is because he isn't going anywhere. Steve Bannon said that they were looking for a way for him to stay in power, well they have found it..

He admitted that he is at war with his own citizens, he has suborned the military, installed officers that will obey him regardless of their oath to the constitution. They are already committing murder at his command.

He has his own personal army, that will shoot at the citizens because they consider us the enemy., and a volunteer auxiliary force standing back and standing by, and has given them license to kill with his unrestrained pardons.

Redistricting, voter ID laws, voter suppression laws, voter caging, armed poll watchers, MAGA election commissions. mail in ballot and ballot box restrictions..

Remember the elections of Nov 4th last, were in blue or at least purple states, and in those state there were red counties and districts, and that is where representatives are elected.

And the small minor victories in Mississippi and Georgia, were because the African American population turned out to vote, and Trump was not on the ballot. We delude ourselves,or rather we allow ourselves to deluded by pundits and professionals in the party.

How are the institutions going to safeguard and protect us when Trump/MAGA control the institutions.

Money is power and who has the money? Financial institutions, corporations, wall street, the Tech cartel and who are they backing? Trump.

He who has the gold makes the rules.

Yeh I'm a pessimist. Who wouldn't be.

I agree with you that "optimism" is a danger in the fight against Trump. There are at least five responses to Trump's threat to American democracy: Disbelief, Optimism, Pessimism, Piety and Rage. 1. Disbelief = It cannot happen here. America is superior and so immune. The basis of decades of US foreign policy. 2. Optimism = It only takes 3% to protest and the authoritarians give up. e.g. "Why Civil Resistance Works" Chenoweth, problem = cherry picking examples of protests. 3. Pessimism = Many reasons including record inequality, defective alternative Democrat party, power of captured federal government, global far-right ethno-nationalist shift. But it only gets harder to resist if give up so only lose. 4. Piety = Long time activists getting excited that their one-eyed ideology has been proven right, now is the time for the revolution. Drives moderate majority away. 5. Rage = How dare a bunch of slimy sociopaths steal our country, with manipulation and cheap lies. Personally I go for rage, qualified by it being constructive. Random acts of violence not the way.

Expand full comment
William Farrar's avatar

I disagree that pessimism leads to giving up. Pessimist realize that nothing else works, solves the problem so they resort to affirmative action.

Allow me to put it this way. Insurgency is born out of pessism. Optimism is the road to defeatism.

Pessimism is the parent of rage. When all else fails, grab a baseball bat.

An optimist is the abused spouse hoping that the abuser will change, that things will get better

Disbelief is an initial reaction. It gives way to optimism or pessimism.

Optimism never leads to rage, it leads to hope, hope leads to lethargy, wait and see, maybe this or that will work and change the situation.

Agreed Random acts of violence are counter productive. Just like looting and burning down the house in which one lives is counterproductive.

Here is an example I've used many times.

It wasn't Ghandi and his non violence that convinced the Brits to leave India.

It was the "ghosts" of Subhas Chandra Bose , the Indian National Army and millions of armed and angry Indians, that convinced the Brits that it was a purdent time to leave India.

Subhas Chandra Bose (has a wiki page) was an Indian that went to Germany, met Hitler and formed his own Indian Legion (not part of the

Waffen SS), the Indian National Army, was an army of Indians that had joined an alliance with the Japanese to liberate India. Bose died in 1945,but his memory (ghost)lived on, the INA surrendered with the surrender of Japan, and it's survivors were charged as traitors (to Britain) and many were hung, but their spirit (ghost) lived on.

The powers that be, promote peaceful protest, because it doesn't destroy property, threaten them their status and wealth, and acts like a relief valve on a pressure cooker.

"got a problem? Protest, get it off your chest, and return to your chores".

The vulnerable Republicans will of course vote yea on HR 4405, knowing full well that it will be stalled in the senate or be vetoed by Trump.

I am surprised that a brilliant lawyer, politician and jurist like you can't see that game.

When Does Trump Become Too Corrupt for the GOP?

Some of us have been working on this since the election. https://jerryweiss.substack.com/

Although many Republicans, like Don Bacon talk a good game, they have disappointed us so far. From Jerry Weiss: In her books On Death and Dying and On Grief and Grieving, psychiatrist Elisabeth Kubler-Ross describes a process of five “stages” that people experience in the process of adjusting to loss: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance. The first four may occur in any order and often will overlap with one another. But all must inevitably end with Acceptance (or delusion).

We're still working on the last straw.

IMHO MAGA is self destructing. NYT: Trump late Sunday urged House Republicans to back a measure that would compel the Justice Department to release files related to the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, reversing his stance after facing the prospect that the measure could receive dozens of G.O.P. votes.

IMHO he wants to diffuse Republican opposition. Remove the drama of so many MAGATs defecting. E.G. Bacon (R-NE) tells Katy Tur that he will now vote YES to release the Epstein files if there is a vote on the House floor. Don Bacon says Congress can't "do the Republican-only fix" on health care subsidies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvJpF0z2Ces. Dozens of House republicans are saying the same.

Saturday, we discussed the "Bubba" issue. IMHO it could be the demise of the MAGA macho persona.

It's really pretty simple: the GOP protects trump because they are getting what they want from him. Likely, many of them don't care for the garbage that came along with their useful idiot, but they like the results. The objective for the last several decades has been absolute destruction of our system of government so that it can be re-made in their hateful image. The basic plan was, as Karl Rove stated so clearly, "A permanent Republican majority." How? First, control the media (check), then control the Supreme Court (check), then establish a "unitary executive" (check) (I wonder whether Dick Cheney regretted that before he died); next was destruction of the system of federal agencies (DOGE-check), and finally, just getting underway, was forceful control of state governments. Whatever disgrace, whatever harm, whatever derangement came along with attaining these objectives, could be tolerated. And here we are . . .

Corruption didn’t sneak up on the GOP. They invited it in, fed it, and handed it the remote. At this point the real question isn’t why they tolerate Trump. It’s what happens to a country when millions decide that power matters more than truth.

One more factor that needs emphasis is that DJT was allowed to declare World War III on the entire world without Congressional consent or even reaction. I refer to his stupid, obscenely high tariffs as starting a trade war against all US allies and select penguins.

Without firing a shot, Trump and his blabbermouthed toadies shut down full access to allied intelligence organizations. Trump's clueless SecWar had been expelled from the National Guard for loss of his security clearance. His first screw-up as Pentagon Boss was a gross violation of security, using unsecured lines for a conference call. His next screw up was his MSM announcements of sending bombers to Iran in ample time for Iran to prepare. At that point, no ally would be foolish enough to share their most sensitive intel with that clown.

The tariffs themselves disrupted global trade, triggering loan defaults, blockades with 100% tariffs, and of course, more inflation. Trump's cabinet, some of whom surely took Econ 101 in college, demonstrated that they all must have earned failing grades when they supported the tariffs they had been taught in class always result in economic calamity - thus my assertion that the tariffs are the equivalent of a declaration of war.

Like shooting wars, trade wars make enemies, damage economies, cause unemployment, and disrupt daily life. Now, Trump has declared real war on any country he asserts is smuggling drugs, earning us charges of violating international law. His congressional toadies still have done nothing.

I really want to see a deep dive on how power affects the brain. A strong addiction, as you say. but it deserves a special study in the age of trump, given its complete takeover; I'm interested esp in whether certain personalities are more prone to power addiction than others. AI: Power affects the brain by deactivating areas related to empathy and social cognition, leading to behaviors such as decreased risk-awareness, increased impulsivity, and a reduced ability to understand others' perspectives. This is partly due to the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine and testosterone, which can be habit-forming and create a self-oriented mindset
