What can we do Thom? Sweep the election. 70 million voters failed to vote in 2920. Trend Democratic. FT6 uses data mining to identify millions of unregistered folks who trend heavily Democratic.

You mention culling the rolls. Republicans are still at it. But we have the capacity to find them and get them registered as Democrats. Republicans did us a favor by enacting the six week abortion ban, putting abortion (and marijuana) on the ballot. 80% of all women oppose. 30 electoral votes. Trump won the state by 3.2% in 2020. If we flip 2% we win. IMHO there may be enough disgruntled Republicans to do it, but just in case, most of the unregistered, and the more than 3 million "no party" are women, trending at 80%.

They turned us from a red to a purple state verging blue. A similar phenomenon is happening in North Carolina, because the Republican governor candidate is an antisemite who says women should not vote. 16 electoral votes. Trump won North Carolina by 1.34% in 2020. In one day at the FT6 Summit, 11,000 new North Carolina Democrats were registered.

Millions of unregistered folks trend heavily Democratic. Register Democrats, save the world.

Thanks for this uplifting information. Despair can paralyze people. You give us a ray of hope. I personally think Biden will win, ( I was right in 2016 and 2020) so I am still fighting.

If only media would cover less of the trial and more of the widespread corruption in the GOP. They will be the ones disingenuously claiming “nobody knew at the time.”

Sorry, Thom, I skipped over this depressing piece, however thoughtfully and thoroughly done, as all of your essays. I'm a retired physician/psychiatrist and know all too well how mentally ill and malfunctioning Our Mad King (wannabe) Donald is. Do we really want an incompetent madman to lead our government? I sure as hell do not.

I , understand your feeling Doc Greeley, but the thought of impending doom should motivate the normal person to get off their ass and do something, burying the head in the sand bcause it is depressing is not an option.

I hope that you are not accusing me of burying my head in the sand, you should know better than that. However, I'm 78 and a Long COVID survivor, as well as prostate cancer survivor, so I don't need anything more to depress me and I do what I can on the net to tell anyone who'll listen just exactly how mentally ill Our Mad King (wannabe) Donald is and why he and his seemingly mindless anti-American "followers" are as misdirected as they obviously are. Save your criticisms for someone who deserves them, and take a look in the mirror while you're at it.

Yes V it’s depressing. But you must have this information at your fingertips, to share with everyone you know. It’s factual info on how the GOP has rigged at least three elections.

Thom, I am starting to see you as the new Thomas Paine. Your common sense and insight impresses me every day. We can anticipate that the GOP will pull a dirty trick at the last minute from their pattern. Turning out the vote is our best defense. I texted our Congressman, LaHood, to ask if he will vote to certify the election when Biden wins. He won't accept texts without a title, Ms,Miss, Mrs, Mr, Dr, or The Honorable. That's information he shouldn't have because of what he can infer about my politics from my answer. I chose, "The Honorable." I'm Honorable, right? Still no response.

You are certainly ‘honourable’. Next time just use my PhD - gifted to you by me as an honorific title 🗞

Thank you. I was only trying to send a text without giving him information about what my politics may be.

I know this sounds like a Robert Ludlum novel but it seems as if there is a loose affiliation of people who control the energy resources all over the world who are now trying to control the governments of the countries with those resources. Some of them, such a Putin, the Prince in Saudi Arabia, other Middle Eastern states rulers, already control the government and their most loyal supporters run the companies. The oil executives whom Trump recently asked for a billion dollars are also part of the group that is trying to build on their wealth and power. They show no concern that their efforts will flood Florida, boil Texas and Arizona, , burn California and Canada, and cause millions to migrate all over the world. Their only thoughts are for short-term profits and more power. Trump’s lifelong ambition is to become one of these world-class dictators. All his “pals” would love to rid the world of democracy, using Trump as the tool.

Another thing that "Nobody Knew at the Time" was the report compiled in 2019 that was the result of a joint exercise by public and private sector entities to test the capacity of our federal government to handle a virus epidemic originating in China. This effort was called "Crimson Contagion (check it out at https://archive.org/details/crimson-contagion-2019) and it not only assessed our nation's capacity to handle a contagion (we weren't ready) but proposed how to fix our readiness.

Of course, the Trump administration ignored the report, and the rest is another example of why the most incompetent and corrupt president in our history should spend the rest of his days in prison.

Thoreau said:

"It (the US Government) has not the vitality and force of a single living man; for a single man (even a barking-at-the-moon nutjob of an ex-President) can bend it to his will.

It is a sort of wooden gun to the people themselves; and, if ever they should use it in earnest as a real one against each other, it will surely split."

Sir Okie Doke says: America . . .Still Riven Since 1865

The real problem began when we let the South off the hook. They were sore losers who became a cancer deep within the body politic, and watchful waiting was no cure. They spent the last 159 years making a mockery of the laws of the land, not to mention the Constitution.

Because the US Gov't have been mollifiers, we got what we got, and that's that. We will become 2 things.

a. A mafia state

b. A vassal state of Russia,

Now Russia are themselves vassals, quite beholden to China. Sooo basically Xi owns us indirectly if we permit King Donald the First to be funneled back into the Oval through subterfuge.

The guy is not just a dictator wannabe. He's a stupid one. So we'll have NO idea who is pulling the strings. . . . Anyone seen Ollie North lately?

I think the "real" problem is, the rich never have enough money and love cheap labor! We could have raised the standard of living if rayguns economic policies were not enacted. The gop love raygun. Now they blame the left for all the wealth inequality. The left who did not want free trade, trickle down or immigration! Since they own the press, they are getting away with it!

It is absolutely exhausting to follow the historic Republican subterfuge and the newer current perfidy

of this evil group.

That is exactly what they are counting on .

While they line up all their dirty weapons against democrats and Democracy, they assume we cannot possibly counteract their menacing behavior and policies.

They lie about everything , the lie to attempt to cover up their lies.

We cannot allow ourselves to be trampled under their filth.

We must do everything possible to recover and register every voter they have purged from the rolls . And encourage people who haven’t voted to vote .

The fact that Trumps followers are not moved by his criminal actions shows that they are not paying attention and is part of the ‘ militant ignorance’ playbook .

Let’s try and focus on what we need to do .

A collection of wealthy interests are helping to drive America into an antidemocratic age. This is the culmination of a multi-pronged effort to confuse the populace, distort their sense of civic reality, and break them economically in order to foster deprivation, distress, and desperation. Democracy has to be maintained and advocated for by the people who benefit having their voices heard. In our era of unipolar preeminence, the American people have become stagnant, gaslit, and left holding the bag of unwarranted tax cuts and spending on projects that do not uplift the public square.

Leaving the polls is exactly what the opposition desires the most. Buck up me lads and fight the whole way thru. Register the battle states, make sure the purges do not get you, talk to your friends, send some help to other workers in select places that will make a difference, and make sure to help turn Texas blue. The loss of TX is the last nail in the coffin for the GOP. Buck up me lads and fight and put this monster out for good.

Off topic but may be of General Interest. I just received an invite to the 2nd Well Being Economy Forum being held in Rekyavik, Iceland June 11-12. Have no idea why I was invited but had a quick look at the prospectus: a cross disciplinary open discussion on how to develop an effective politics based upon delivering a collective health focused sustainable social model to replace our present competitive perpetual economic growth cancer. 🌎

After the 2020 election I’d convinced myself that living through four years of Tя☭mp AND his treasonous armed insurrection in 2021 would mark a clear end to our national nightmare. And that we could now begin the process of recovering from the anti-American shit show we’d had to endure for so long. But no. I was so naive. The traitors in the Tя☭mp Party are unashamedly open about seeing Democracy crash and burn.
