And then there is this: A small step to deploying the military against the citizens in a mixed war, Trump has already done that in L.A.
Top Homeland Security Department officials are hoping to involve the Defense Department more deeply in domestic operations, according to an internal memo authored by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s younger brother, Philip Hegseth, that discusses a perceived need to persuade top Pentagon officials to “feel the urgency” of the “homeland defense mission.” Greg Sargent reports for the New Republic. https://newrepublic.com/article/198708/trump-military-anti-immigration-dhs-leaked-memo
Yep, and they won't be just ICE goons, Trump has an unpaid army, standing by, at his disposal, Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, Boogaloo Boyz, 3 percenters, Aryan brotherhood, militia's I can't keep count or track of them all.
I am, to put it mildly, far less optimistic than Thom about there being anything we can do beyond trying to put speed bumps to slow down Trump's ascension to absolute power. I agree with Paul Krugman's decidedly pessimistic - I think realistic - view of what is happening, and what is going to happen to our democracy. In fact, today I totally changed what I was going to write in my Substack after reading what he wrote in his. Thus my title became: "I was going to ask whether the democratic ship of state was sinking or had already sunk. Then I read Paul Krugman." You can read excerpts from Krugman and what I had to say here: https://halbrown.substack.com/p/i-was-going-to-ask-whether-the-democratic
Hal, this is hard to digest for the soft hearted among us, but we are way past the tipping point, where we can save our souls (SOS) via legal, judicial or voting action, the regime will not be toppled from outside. Trump acts like a foreign agent, whose goal is to destroy this country from the inside, and the only recourse we have is direct action, rising up, and I don't mean parading around the capitol or main street with placards either, that will and has got us nowhere. He is still doing what he set out to do, and for the time being any judicial ruling adverse to Trump is simply one step back after two steps forward.
FFS he controls the police power of the state, and alas has too many couny sheriffs and municipal police departments in alliance.
You are a kindred spirit, William. I don't see you as a pessimist. I see you as a realist. I don't know what is in Thom's mind. I have met him and talked to him. I know about how he (like me, at the same time and the same place, Michigan State) was an anti-war activist. I don't see him as soft hearted. I see him as tough and courageous. Perhaps Thom wants to keep our spirits up. I wish we knew he read these comments and replied to some of them. All we can do is call his show and ask him directly.
Hal when I talked about Soft hearted I was not talking about Thom. I agree with you as regards Thom and his character. If I differ it is on some facts or interpretations of facts, but Thom has been my go to for ages. I've been following him on Free Speech TV for over two decades, even while he was on RT today.
Hal, as unbelievable as my claim may be, I am not emotionally involved in, or identify with any segment of the population. I about as close to a visitor from another dimension or outer space as one can be, to the antics of the inhabitants of this planet.
I have made good choices in life, I am financially secure, I have no debts, no mortgage, I own my own property. although I am in remission from lung cancer (hopefully, that is to be determined in October when I get a P.E.T. Scan, I am otherwise in good health for my age, which is 86.
None of the bull shit antics going on, will affect me, and my sense of self, my personal identity is not with any group or sector, neither, race, religion, social status or even gender.
I can see strengths and weaknesses in all ethnicities, genders, nationalities, races, religions
My comments are non partisan. I am not political, I have no allegiance or identity with any political party. However, I do vote Democrat, because the other choices are unpalatable.
You sound like you have a life philosophy which works well for you. So many people don't even have what could be called a life philosophy. They just muddle through their lives buffeted this way and that by the bullshit propaganda thrown out there and which they believe. Whether it's an actual item or an idea, it's "buy this or buy that and you will be happy" for them.
I am glad to hear abnout your success - permanent I hope - in beating lung cancer. My wife of 40 years was not so lucky and she died at 65 of the disease. I am 81 and as far as I know healthy, though I made a doctor appt. for Weds. to check out a problem which I hope isn't serious. As we get older we are always one symtpom or one doctors visit away from bad news.
I have always been aligned with the Democratic Party because I see their overall values as consistent with mine: assuring a social safety net, respecting the dignity of all people, and trying, albeit with generally good intentions but with limited success, to rein in the power of monied interests.
Oct 2, 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, and put on palliative care. my only reaction was to draw up a will. I have had a good life, better than most, with experiences that would make Walter Middy salivate.
I can testify to the aches, pains and degradation that comes with aging, still in all I've outlived most of my peers, and am still trucking., at least I can do some chores, well chores is the wrong word. I enjoy doing them, so they aren't chores at all.
Incidentally they treated me with Keytrude, immunotherapy, not chemo, which bolstered the cells and immunity, not kills it like chemo.Oncologist told me that I am a miracle, very few have lived as long as me after my diagnosis and treatment.
I don't fear death, I have had a brush with it, at least 8 maybe 10 times in my life. maybe more. The only concern I have is dying a painful and slow death, if it comes to that then I will self euthanize.
I am really pleased that you are sharing here. I am sorry we don't know each other in person. My wife was on the horrible old chemo and in addition to how sick this made her she had a rare side effect and that is what killed her before the cancer could.
Oregon has a death with dignity law. I knew a couple of people who decided to end their lives this way. I also had a good friend who knew what was ahead with various illnesses but was not sick enough to get a doctor to prescribe the lethal pills, so she used a service which provided 24 hr. nursing for the five days it took to die by stopping eating and drinking.
So sorry to hear that William. I have one more chemo treatment to finish up for lymphoma. I can attest as to how horrible chemo is. The only one I would wish it on is krasnov.
So many people put off the things that excites them and then realize it’s too late when C raises its ugly head.
The only ones who fear death are those who haven’t lived. You have a lot to be proud of. Best wishes.
I am sure that trump is anticipating (or his handlers are anyway) the possibility of violence and welcoming it so that he can send in the troops. I think that a general strike would be more effective. Boycott all non-essential purchases and activities, denying those clowns the thing that is most important to them- money.
I'm just wondering when we will all be finally FED UP with this DICTATOR, and storm the WHITE HOUSE and DRAG him out like some countries do to there CORRUPT LEADERS???????
This just seems like it gets worse and worse .. I know we have tons of people fighting these event .. Can you dedicate some writing to “what can I do if I am purged from the voter lists?” It would seem to me that, since we are fighting this shit already, we need to prepare ourselves for fighting to vote .. US the American citizens .. there must be something we can do, now AND at the voting booth ..
Bravo for your always blunt assessment of the many dangers we face today in the unchained actions of a sociopath without conscience whose only desire is that the money keeps coming in.
A magician in shaping media coverage (and I really appreciate your call-out, and not merely of Fox) in your essay about the idiots who insist that the economy is always better under Republicans. I'm so relieved to find someone who doesn't mince words.
Two of my father-in-law's expressions come to mind: "If you can"t beat "em, cheat 'em". And, "everybody has their finger in the pie, just don't get caught". This last from the days of Nixon -- my father-in-law was a staunch Republican, voting for Goldwater, and rushing down to be drafted as soon as Pearl Harbor occurred. However, he was pragmatic -- "give the other guys a chance". Would he have voted for Trump? Not a chance -- what he prized most in people was honesty as in "...when she says something, you could put it in the bank".
Distressingly, Trump makes Nixon look like a bumbling amateur. While I wouldn't say he had a conscience, he did adhere to the "guard rails" agreed upon rules of his party, if not the statutes of the Constitution. He handed over evidence -- how quaint, obeying a Supreme Court injunction -- and listened to his party's entreaty to resign. Of course, the subsequent pardon gave him a free pass, to a lovely retirement. But in retrospect, compared to the freedom, without shame, in order to openly lie, cheat and harm, it seems at least a bit least objectionable.
Thank you for stepping up and speaking clearly as to the damage already done and continuing, it seems every hour of every day. If the media doesn't report on our awareness, outrage and willingness to move for a sea-change, it will never happen. Only the inevitable destruction of our notion of community, with the crumbling of democracy as we know it will result.
I am not so sure that Kamala would have carried Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Besides the Russian psychological operations run, and the hacking of servers, especially in Pennsyslvania, which Daniel Solomon has detailed. There was the Muslim vote
-The 2024 presidential election was decided by 229,766 votes across the Midwestern battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, according to Dave Wasserman from the Cook Political Report.
It's Like He's Going on Zionist Overdrive' |
Trump's pro-Israel Cabinet Picks Upset Muslims Who Voted for Him
'Trump won because of us,' said one of the founders of Muslims for Trump, 'and we're not happy with his Secretary of State pick and others'
On top of that In 2024, there were approximately 631,361 African Americans residing in Philadelphia, making up 39.9% of the city's total population, according to World Population Review. This group represents the largest racial or ethnic group in the city, with the next largest being white residents at 36.13%.
And young black males, overwhelming chose to vote for Trump or not vote in the 2024 election because of Biden'ssupport for Israel.
Thom has discussed the Greg Palast theory, which belies that argument.
According to the Zarnoski Substack, none of that is important. It was the software.
According to David Rodriguez, prior to Nov 2024 Election, it was reported that there were nearly 18 Million New Registered Voters in the US since the 2022 Midterms. Yet that increase in Registered Voters appears to have completely vanished 'after' the Election. He says although there should around 186 million voters in 2024, the US Census Bureau is saying there were only 173,854,000 registered voters. https://polarshifteveryone.blogspot.com/2025/07/was-2024-election-rigged.html
Eh, not so. I can see an objection if the facts are interpreted as Trump is president because Biden supported Israel, but I see it differently, that the Muslims in their loyalty to the Ummah, cut off their nose to spite their face, because if they had any sense at all, they would have remembered that Trump was not a friend of Islam at all and tried to push through a Muslim ban. Thus they did flip a bird to the Democratic party, and then jumped into the fire from the frying pan.
Does anyone think that Trump has given up on his Gaza as a Mediterranean resort opportunity for himself and his son in law and the Israeli speculators.
So, your theory is Trump won the election because of the Muslim vote?? Not buying. How about considering the 77 MILLION who voted for this embarrassment. 77 Million people, think about it, that's a lot of people! This is where we are today! People never saw the "change" that Dem's or GOP ran on, and after years of disappointment they voted to bring the house down.
I have thought about the 77 million that voted. a great many of those that didn't vote that sat out the election were Muslims, and young males
I don't think that people voted to bring the house down, but making the decisions they did, they did, in effect, voted to bring the house down.
I know for a fact, and can prove it, that there were in fact enough Muslim votes, and young male votes, especially Gen Y and Z, that either voted for Trump or didn't vote at all, that would have changed the outcome.
From the young blacks, we heard on TV, focus Groups on the internet. "What have the Democrats done for us. I'm going to vote Republican"
Over and over again, Trump courted them in Brooklyn, remember, and by his side stood tokens.
Many don't bother to vote in a heavily gerrymandered state even now. They know there is little hope their candidate can win and in presidential elections their vote won't count at all. The electoral college gives all their votes to the person who won the state even if it was fairly close. Democracy is under heavy threat by the Republican party. They like to pretend non citizens are voting heavily and I truly doubt they are voting at all.
Johnny Friendly, who is the corrupt union boss in "On the Waterfront", ends up in court because Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) testifies against him to the Waterfront Crime Commission.
- Racketeering and extortion: He forces dockworkers to pay kickbacks and uses threats and violence to maintain control.
- Murder and conspiracy: He orchestrates the killing of Joey Doyle, who was planning to testify against the union’s corruption.
- Fixing boxing matches: He manipulated Terry’s boxing career for personal gain.
Terry’s decision to speak out is the moral turning point of the film. It leads to Friendly’s downfall, as the other dockworkers begin to reject his authority and stand in solidarity with Terry.
Donald? A small-time crook, an alleged kiddie rapist who is a Johnny Friendly wannabe.
We are ALL Terry Malloy !!! Take a cue from Charlamagne tha God. You CAN be a CONTENDER, too !!! This is just the start of the 3rd round of this boxing match.
Remember Karl Rove's "By whatever means necessary" when explaining how the GOP would accomplish its planned takeover; in the NeoCon heyday with its "Project for a New American Century" rough draft for Project 25. This was in the 90s, 20 years AFTER the initial groundwork was being planned for complete gop takeover. Opus Dei and the primary billionaires first joined forces with Protestant evangelicals, then struck a deal to give the GOP 100% political backing in return for destroying Roe v. Wade. Along the way they've added such malcontent groups as Incels, white supremacists/eugenicists, and the Techbros. There's also a strong contingent from the sciences who join a primary rush to apocalypse. The objective is destruction of the current system of government, to establish a theocracy which will by various means substantially eradicate people of color and ensure survival of white northern European people. The theocracy will be formed in accordance with tribal rules and punishments of the Old Testament. If you doubt all this, please start reading the many fine works that have shown up in major magazines such as The Nation, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones, Vanity Fair; also ProPublica has done some good reporting. It's been a long road down and will be a very long road up. The old guard of Dems has failed all along the way and especially at this critical juncture, but there are intelligent, informed, and, hallelujah, very brave younger Dems coming to the forefront. We must encourage and support all of them. It's a Promethean task ahead.
Now is our moment—today take action against this harmful government. They are:
• Covering up a pedophile ring.
• Ignoring court orders.
• Spreading corruption.
The poor, the needy, and children are being abused—by our government. Healthcare, already a broken system, was canceled for 13 million. Take to the streets!
We must protest outright crooks and the pedophiles. They will start shooting us. Untrained ICE agents will shoot us. Protest until we go down or we oust these tyrants.
I made 54 protest signs to aid protest groups. I will make many more to share. You will see something different in these signs! Help yourself to this second batch, and share them as far as you can.
The Dems need to insure the people that any redistricting we do is only to rebalance the losses the Repubs inflict on us in order to keep things fair overall. We do not desire to use this tactic as how to play the game and will end it as soon as the other side does the same.
We wuz robbed. Thom, please interview Adam Zarnowski.

Yeah, agree; hadn't thought about all the others, but you're right. The Sheriff's are all "sovereign" here in the Northwest.

Irrelevant to the actual count.
No Arshabow.
We have very few Dems on the ballot any more. It's almost not worth voting since I don't vote for Republicans.
Johnny Friendly, who is the corrupt union boss in "On the Waterfront", ends up in court because Terry Malloy (Marlon Brando) testifies against him to the Waterfront Crime Commission.
Terry's testimony exposes Friendly’s involvement in:
Ken Martin is alive (sarcasm) and starting to say some of the things that we've been hoping for!

Great God Almighty - who are the thousands of willing droids pressing the buttons to delete, delete, delete, purge, purge, purge.
Who are they and why are they doing this?
They are our neighbors and family members, friends and coworkers. and they have drunk the KoolAid.
This is a suicide pact.
They bring heavy artillery, we bring strongly worded letters.
