There is an extraordinary amount of "double gaslighting", I guess you could call it; that is, to not just deny doing what we all see them doing, but to also say we are the ones doing it, not them. Here they are, breaking laws all over the place while warring against "crime-ridden" liberal cities, and breaking more laws in the process. Similarly, they have a shit hemorrhage over "defunding" police, as liberals supposedly did in their cities, when it was never seriously considered; meanwhile, the first thing Trump did entering office was get rid of government agency police, i.e., inspectors general.

Trump doesn't give a shit about the Hatch Act. As # 45 recitivist Hatch Act violator Kellyanne Conway avoided getting fired for “egregious and ongoing” violations of the Hatch Act in large part because athe MSPB, the Merit Systems Protections Board, which hears appeals was defunded.

When the MSPB didn’t have enough sitting members to issue any rulings, Conway’s case was referred to the White House.

As of today, the MSPB is not viable for rendering final decisions on federal employee appeals because it lacks the necessary quorum of members. Furthermore, a partial government shutdown has currently suspended all agency operations, including the functions of administrative judges who can otherwise issue initial decisions.

If Trump doesn't give a shit, Noem has a get out of jail free card.

Nearly 11,000 air traffic controllers (ATCs) are directing traffic without pay, per the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA)—are working under “increasingly unsafe” conditions.

Airline employees, shareholders in airline companies and others affected should be pressuring Congress.

The U.S. Travel Association (USTA) reported that the shutdown is costing the entire travel industry about $1 billion each week, with the loss having exceeded $1 billion as of October 8.

Always helpful to know how Republicans have crippled the system that is supposed to protect us, Daniel.

Kristi, her rearranged face, and hair extensions are living their their best life for now. They are probably depending on a blanket pardon in a few years from King of Fools Donald. Perhaps the odds in favor of that are dwindling.

They sure have a strategy going, don’t they? How to first set cracks in the system, then cause said cracks to widen into a chasm of complicity and facilitation.

This IS the new organized crime and how it bands together into loose ties of temporary cooperation, then sets to suck dry all it can quickly and apparently disband ties.

But, they don’t actually disband at all because they are all just as committed to making as much out of the situation individually and collectively, while always looking for a place to instigate a new “crack” or opportunity.

Question: so why can't there be a lawsuit brought against this? Surely there is some way to sue them.

~~~ And the Air Traffic Controllers Union & the
TSA Union could just tell their members to walk off. It's not like this administration can go to an Air Traffic Controllers Store or TSA Store & buy or rent more!TSA individuals do need training.
And Air traffic Controllers are highly skilled for a demanding job. I mean they're not getting paid anyway, & they risk being fired anyway so why not use it to their advantage. Stop all air traffic. Let's see how that "lands" with these ghouls. It would be especially effective if corporate executives were "stuck" out of country.
I am, or rather was, an FAA certified Air Traffic Controller, if you could see what goes on inside of those control towers, you would think twice about flying, while the voice the pilot hears is cool, calm and in command what goes on behind the scenes would alarm you.
The shift schedule alone grinds you down, you barely have enough free time to take care of business and get a decent rest and recreate
Air traffic controller shifts are often rotating, irregular schedules that can include day, afternoon, and overnight hours. Controllers cannot work more than 10 consecutive hours and must have at least 9 hours of rest before their next shift. Common schedules include rotating shifts like the "2-2-1" (two day, two night, one midnight) and can involve working 10-hour days, six days a week, often including weekends.
The main occupational hazards for air traffic controllers are stress and fatigue due to high-workload, complex tasks, and the constant need for concentration, which can lead to errors. Other hazards include poor working conditions such as equipment malfunctions, staffing shortages, and unsuitable physical environments, as well as exposure to stressors like rotating shifts, long hours, and emergencies.
Yes, I've read about those deficiencies in those control centers. I marvel that folks stay in those jobs & thank them in my thoughts the few times I do fly. And I thank you for your service in doing that job! Few can do that job so you are one of them that survived that job & earned retirement, at least I hope that you are retired!
Common Cause has filed 54 ethics complaints. 18 last night alone.
For some of us, this is deja vu all over again. First thing Reagan did was kill the air traffic controllers' union.
Like I said above, we have to resist and persist even though we don't win them all.
At DOL I heard "AIR 21" aviation whistleblower cases.
"AIR 21 cases" refers to claims filed under the Wendell H. Ford Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century (AIR21), a law that protects aviation employees from retaliation for reporting safety violations. These cases involve employees who report safety concerns to their employer or the government and are subsequently subjected to adverse actions, such as termination or demotion.
From AI Overview: No, it is illegal for air traffic controllers to strike because they are federal employees and federal law prohibits strikes by government workers. Participating in a strike can lead to being fired, prosecuted, banned from future federal service, and face fines.
They could suffer fines that would ruin them. Who's going to hire them if they get prosecuted? Wish they had the power, but they truly don't, Return.
It seems to me that using the words "federal law" in the current political era is silly. Nixon violated federal law and was pardoned. Reagan violated the Logan Act and was elected. The Voting Rights Act has been violated wholesale since the Bush/Gore election. As the political theorist Carl Schmitt put it "There is no law, only power". Now money is power. A very few people have more than 50% of the nations wealth and their fore the power to control the country.
Yes Alis all economies are composed of four elements:
1) raw materials
2) labor
3) markets
4) money
You've got it right.
All the commonly accepted economic theories in this country are nothing more than a defense [implied or literal] of the institutionalized activities of those who manipulate money as they generate profit for themselves. This is not true wealth, however. Nor are those commonly accepted theories accurate explanations.
Nixon and Kissinger also violated the Logan Act in 1968 by telling the South Vietnamese to refuse a peace settlement. LBJ was aware of the Logan Act violation, but he was exhausted about the war and just ignored it. The result was four more years of war, with more dead North and South soldiers and civilians, and more dead American soldiers until Congress and the Senate refused more funding.
Why not go on the offensive and fight fire with fire by distributing a clear message about the Hatch Act to airport managers with a demand for equal time or a simple notice that legal action will be taken to prosecute? It isn't partisan to notify them that they are breaking the law and giving fair warning about lawsuits. In the same vein, I wrote over a week ago with a suggestion that a series of educational videos should be produced with prominent constitutional scholars like Thom giving explicit information about the U. S. Constitution to be distributed widely in celebration of its 250-year anniversary. Is educating the public not actually such a high priority, after all? I received a few likes, but no one seems to have any solid interest in making something happen. Ho hum.
The budget vote being more recent than the last debt ceiling vote, it supersedes the last debt ceiling vote.
