‘Sometime they’ll give a war and nobody will come.’--Carl Sandburg

That poem quote is from 1936, but it was well used in many forms during the sixties. I thought it very naive then, but it may be applicable to this situation. A very large portion of the American public has the attention span of a gnat. From Google: " The latest data shows that in 2020, trending topics have a shelf-life of 11 minutes.-May 24, 2021"

Let's hope that works in our favor, for a change.

Thanks Thom, great piece as always. This is what concerned me when Biden won after the Democrats effectively kneecapped Bernie (for the 2nd time). It seems they know how to fight when it's against one of their own but somehow are unable to do that when it's the opposite party. Personally, I think we need more progressives at the helm, the Schumer's, Pelosi's, Feinstein's and yes even Pres. Biden don't have it in them and we worked so hard to have the majority that we have now. It's sad, and I can completely understand how so many are disillusioned.

Bernie has been kneecapped by the media. Bernie wants money out of politics. The media wants money in politics because they get a big chunk of it. Thus Bernie gets minimal media coverage.

So true. Remember that empty Trump podium for 45 min. while they cut away from Sanders speech in 2016?

All true but maybe not as well documented were the claims made by Donna Brazile and Elizabeth Warren that the 2016 primary was rigged by the DNC in favor of Clinton, which after a few days (and probably some phone calls) they walked back. As for 2020, the fact that Klobuchar and Buttigieg announced just a day or two BEFORE super Tuesday that they were dropping out and throwing their support behind Biden who was not even in the lead as Sanders was becoming a real threat for the moderate democrats. Buttigieg was well rewarded for that as Biden nominated him for Secretary of Transportation. The fix was in.

The media has started the tear down of Biden and building of Trump. Why? The media makes tons of money when the race is close. If it was blowout they would not get the advertising money or viewers. Our country is controlled by billionaires that own and operate the mainstream media. Trump gave a rally in Iowa. Does the media report that it was 100% lies? What did CBS CEO say "Trump may not be good for the country but he is good for CBS".

Politifact does a better job, but that is not on CBS, CNN etc. (the mainstream media)
