I love what you do Thom, thank you. I have learned so much listening to you. I think however it is a little premature to say the casting couch is a relic of the past, it's had a little light shed on it but the Harveys and Bill Cosbys are still out there just like bad cops. Male toxicity is killing this planet. Awomen!

The police forces hire a lot of ex military. In todays all volunteer military you get a high percentage of people that want to kill and maim.

Thanks for pointing out a seldom, if ever, discussed root cause of police violence when you noted (above) that our police forces employ some percent of folks "...who are drawn to authoritarian-type positions like police work." When they exacerbate the problem by screening for police applicants who lack empathy and exhibit aggressive behavior, we have a systemic problem. Do you think the cops award extra points for manifestations of toxic masculinity, racism, and confirmed kills while in the military?

People constantly want to play "if only they had listened to the arresting officer" or "if only she had not put herself in jeopardy". We need to ask said people why they want the victim to be responsible, but give the person in charge a pass.

I am still hearing this about George Floyd. Police officers in Minneapolis make $60,000 a year and well beyond. They use their status to work security and some are bringing in $100,000, good money for very little education. Sure there are dangers and challenges, but that's what a lot of them are after. They want a certain image. As of November 2020, police work is not even in the top 10 for deaths on the job.

Back to responsibility, these officers, CEOs, directors, and supervisors are being paid to do a job. They are supposed to be in their right mind, not drunk or stoned. They are responsible for their own temper or for putting their hands on someone. It is so past the time of reckoning for those who do not meet the barest of standards. Shame, unemployment, law suits and jail awaits them at last. No more blaming the victims.....if only these abusers would stop and just do their job!
