What happens is these people begin spending all of their time only with others with the same wealth. It isn’t really an addiction, it’s a bubble. They are agree to take their yachts to Majorca at the same time. Some play polo or race horses. Some have big ranches in Idaho or Montana, or islands off the coast of Georgia or Florida. Most of them have three or four homes, often in three different countries. Their money is protected from every government.
In many cases they aren’t mean people. But many are just totally unaware and uncaring. Although many of these people give lots of money to causes they believe in. Those cases range from feeding the hungry all over the world to building hospitals and museums, to guaranteeing white supremacy. They love to be thanked at big galas.
"They get to think of themselves as geniuses." IMO, that's an important observation. The sense that they earned/deserved their perks helps with disregarding empathy with the less fortunate.
Even those that make above 45k, 60k, 75k, 90k, over 100k, hang out with their same monetary class. A lot of them are government workers who haven't broke a sweat working in their lifetime also. A lot of healthcare providers are incompetent, yet they make over 100k a year also.....
A lot of them are government workers who have allowed you to get to work, not get ripped off, not get sick, keep you safe, make sure the banking system works, and do 1000s of things every day to keep the country running that you need but are never aware of.
