It is not a coincidence that the 11 states are ones that have actively supported slavery for centuries, both private ownership of people and state ownership through the states' prisons. Similar appeals were made successfully to move the people of Italy, Germany, and Japan to fascist governments, and have been used more recently in India, Brazil, and the United States. Small wonder that the Republicans oppose public education and NPR and any other source of information.
