“I Should Say that one full third were averse to the Revolution....". Detecting a very old pattern here? Conservatives will always be with us, and they will not gravitate toward change. With climate chaos, injustice, inequality, homelessness, wars, famine, and all the other ills of the world, changing is the only solution. It begins with an idea that becomes an action; a small cohort becomes a movement. Onward and upward!

"Conservatives" are not conservative. They are gluttonous, wasteful pigs feeding at the trough. Nature can no longer afford to supply the slop.

The "trim tab" principle, then, perhaps more than any other single effort by humankind but including every possible effort large and small, needs to be applied to counteract human-caused climate destruction. There's no time to waste.

Here's a good synopsis by VOX of the new UN IPCC climate report, which should be THE guiding light for all major human endeavors from this day forward. Put simply: Choose life over death. That's like a "duh" thing. There is no alternative unless you're a psychopath. So don't dwell too long and hard about what you might think are other viable alternatives, because there are none, and the window is closing fast:

If benevolent aliens actually are darting around the atmosphere checking us out (as a recent government report strongly suggests without actually saying so), boy, this would surely be the time for the adults out there, so to speak, to break the "Prime Directive" rule and intervene with a lesser civilization to keep the little brats from setting their playroom on fire, don't ya think? Hello?

Oh well, short of that hail-mary pass (If you were an alien, what the hell would you do? Right; hightail it outta here!), it is sadly time to completely ignore any and all input from incorrigible liars and deniers, i.e., Republicans, and move on to figure out actual solutions that have a realistic chance to mitigate some of the worst effects already baked in and unavoidable. (Mmmm... one such solution comes to mind: How about quit burning fossil fuels!)

We. Don't. Have. Time. To. Suffer. Fools.

If governments, industries, scientists, educators, media, and citizens alike don't all start pulling together in some reasonable fashion and actually DO SOMETHING! ...meaningful ...on a large scale ...and, most importantly, in a TIMELY fashion, then our already dire situation will only get worse. Much, much worse.

Republicans will Filibuster any climate legislation. They took us out of the Paris Climate Agreement. We need a Super Majority to do anything about Climate.

We need an all out war on wildfires in the west. Just saw a TV news article on how vet offices are swamped with pets with irritated eyes etc. Everyday is a red air alert in Colorado.

You’ll see the receipts and translations. Supposedly, the allegations have been confirmed.

Mr Thom, bomoh of this digital village, transmutating despair into belief. His alchemy remains a brilliant guide - illuminating corridors, dark as death, of uncertainty, hopelessness, and elusive truth.

My gratitude.

Loved the "trim" metaphor/ analogy.

What probably bothers me the most, is how we have allowed money to become the driving force in Politics. I literally get at least 10+ requests a day for political donations. Senate and Congress candidates in other states request money. I am retired and anything that I give is a drop in the bucket compared to the billionaire and corporate donators. Then you read that Marjorie Taylor Greene is the number 1 at collecting money. With Pedophile Matt Gaetz a close second. These 2 are easily going to win reelection and even move up the political ladder. How do you combat ignorance in voting? I did actively work in the local Democratic Party, then Covid hit and I decided to social distance. Working for the Democratic Party (I am sure the same with the Republicans) puts you on the hit list for donations. Your phone, email and address are distributed nationally. One of the main reasons I was for Bernie is his campaign to get money out of politics. Unfortunately he is about the only one. https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-matt-gaetz-marjorie-taylor-greene-fundraising-tour-is-actually-a-cash-fire
