OUR particular "democracy" hangs and swings in the cradle of a constitutional republic. It's the republic and its rule of law that allows our democracy any legitimacy it may have. And it's nothing less than our rule of law -- our very republic -- under threat these days. Thank you for recognizing and calling that profundity for what it really is. Our "democracy," if we lose it -- is little more than collateral damage to the real loss here.
