Ford was the Elon Musk of his era. Ford was an automotive entrepreneur who conspired with J.D. Rockefeller to put competing electric cars & trollies out of business by providing convenient access to fossil fuel for combustion automobiles and busses. Standard Oil Gas stations started popping up along US highways and street corners. Soon cities were ripping up their trolley tracks and buying diesel-fume-belching buses promoted as making it easier to change routes even though most trollies ran down main streets.
Like Musk, Ford was not just a ruthless businessman, he was also a hateful racist and pro-Nazi fascist.
Ignorant of American history perhaps, Musk failed to follow Ford’s example to convince the gas station industry to install EV chargers. Or maybe he tried and they refused. In any event, he convinced the Biden administration to subsidize installing public chargers to help promote his business interests.
When Biden's senility made it clear that Trump was likely to win in 2024, Musk quickly transformed from Green liberal to the Red MAGA co-president. DOGE will facilitate keeping or even increasing regulations affecting the gas auto industry. It will also enable cutting the regulation of EVs while locking in more federal loans and subsidies for his business expansion.
