I've been around a long time. This is terrifying!! Joe Biden & Dems MUST vocalize/scream the play by play destruction of democracy the GOP is determined to pursue for the sake of POWER and their wallets! For over 40 years! Do the current Dems even fully recognize what's taking place? This is the "vast right-wing conspiracy" that Hillary called out years ago! Verbalization & action is absolutely imperative - NOW!!

Today President Biden told us he's going after the monopolies. Excellent.

A June 7th article in Alliance for Securing Democracy titled "Biden Puts Oligarchs On Notice" discusses what the President has started:

"But the most impressive aspect of this initiative is its ambitious substantive scope. The U.S. official underscored how it covers “the full span of everything that all of our departments and agencies can bring to this fight.” Specifically, the strategy will bolster the ability of the United States to root out dirty money, impose strong sanctions, confiscate stolen assets, close loopholes enabling strategic corruption, support civil society and independent media, enhance foreign assistance to countries trying to tackle corruption, build up multilateral institutions, help domestic and international authorities improve transparency and oversight, and otherwise modernize, coordinate, and resource U.S. efforts against corruption.

And while these efforts will include domestic reforms—which is why the national security council is ordered to coordinate with the economic and domestic policy councils, and why the memo points to specific legislative needs—Biden emphasized in his statement that “this is a mission for the entire world.” That same day, U.S. ambassadors delivered remarks at the United Nations notifying the world—allies saddle up, oligarchs be warned—that Biden has now established the fight against corruption as a core national security interest."

Article is by Josh Rudolph, and it has links for the President's initiative, memorandum, etc....

Today Joe Biden said he supports maintaining the filibuster. Anything he does in the future will be ignored. His agenda is dead.

The Haiti Assassination is getting interesting. After the Assassination the Taiwan Embassy abandoned the Embassy for security reasons. Haiti is one of only 15 countries that recognize Taiwan. China hates this and has spent a lot of money and time getting countries to abandon Taiwan. Then a bunch of these "soldiers" broke into the Taiwanese Embassy. The Taiwan Ambassador could see them on camera and called the police. About 11 were arrested in the Taiwan Embassy. https://www.taipeitimes.com/News/taiwan/archives/2021/07/10/2003760615

When workers are weakened the elites take over. Germany experienced the Nazi Party and Hitler being placed in power thanks to funding by the top 25 industrialists and the support of the Catholic Pope. Part of the deal struck by the industrialists was Hitler banning unions. After the war the German goverment enacted legislation to force co-determination with workers sitting on the boards of businesses.

Now we have both parties controlled by the war industry and the oil industry which reap enormous profits year after year and war after war while pushing ahead with increased carbon emissions resulting in global warming.

We need the repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 to restore the balance between the workers and the corporate CEO's. We also need to break up the media conglomerates starting with the Murdoch family operations.

If you were one of the oligarchs and knew that the For The People Act would undermine your ability to control the electorate and our public sector decision-makers, what would you do? If history is any predictor (never forget the Lucy Van Pelt Effect), you would tell your congressional toadies to make the legislation die in the Senate, and continue to take a tiny percent of your ill-gotten gains to bribe and otherwise coerce anyone else who gets in your way. Although I'd love to see the end of the filibuster and a simple legislative solution to the problem, I believe the only way to defeat the oligarchs is with an amendment that stops this crap once and for all, and that will take 3.5% of our fellow citizens engaged in strategic and persistent nonviolent resistance. Only when money is no longer speech and corporations are no longer people can legislation like the For The People Act actually pass and get these crucial policies implemented. Regardless of the leverage that the oligarchs hold over Sinema and Manchin, they will never allow them to promote the general welfare of our citizens as long as they have the power to control their decisions.
