One of the great responses! I will look up Fanon. I grew up in a thick stew of "cognitive dissonance," related to a mother who, thanks to John Dean, ("Conservatives Without Conscience.") I have come to identify as high authoritarian leader as well as follower. It certainly "disturbed" me! I have one reflection: that political divergence is driving a perverse impulse toward SELECTIVE education, as in indoctrination. (In my day, "Civics" in high school was all about bad commie Kruschev) It is interesting that Mr. Farrar describes physical symptoms. My Mom never broke a sweat! By golly, she was right about both conflicting ideas! So Farrar's acquaintance weren't really die-hard. Many MAGAs now seem more like my Mom, frighteningly....
