Yes, American politics is corrupt and dirty, but corruption and slime is hardly the home territory of just one of the two cartel parties. Jimmy Carter was the only influential Democrat with the courage to honestly state that we are an oligarchy and no longer a democracy. He applied that to our political system, not to just one party.

"They??" The "Nature" article by Eady et al.? It is the latest credible peer-reviewed article, and they never even cite Durham and thus did not rely on him as a source.
If you want to believe that "they were not aware" of it, you can. I'm not a mind reader, so I don't know that they were unaware of, but I think it much more likely that between the team of authors and the peer reviewers, they were aware of the best available information and synthesized it appropriately. That information confirmed that voter influence by Russian trolls did not produce the 2016 loss for HRC.
From the time of their unanticipated loss in 2016, the Democratic Party operatives tried to blame their loss on anything and everything from Russians (DEBUNKED) to Bernie Sanders (also THOROUGHLY debunked). So in 2024 they ran again on a "vote for the lesser evil" and vote blue no matter who theme." Plus they added a "Donate here" button on every communication and then a request that their rank and file get behind apartheid, an ethnic cleansing, and a genocide...but remain shushed and never talk about it. The rank and file sent them a warning by a "none of the above" vote in mid term. As a result, over 12 million registered Democrats that voted for Biden in 2022 stayed home. And Trump won the presidency after garnering even fewer votes than he garnered when he lost in 2022.
Rinse and repeat...and lose. If they do a third rinse and repeat, the operatives of the Democratic Party will lose even worse.
Time to go beyond finger-pointing and seeking scapegoats.
