With regard to the piece on heat/sauna therapy, as it relates to immune function, there is almost surely a protection against cancer associated with what I have always called hydrotherapy, which is the heated water/steam health benefit. By coincidence, I just encountered a discussion about IL-2 in a book about immunotherapy in curing cancer. I've only finished three chapters so far. But IL and interferon are mentioned in this connection. I have no idea if it will get to IL-6 and IL-10. The book is "The Breakthrough" by Charles Graeber. I do not pretend to understand the science and it appears that a true breakthrough in using immune function to prevent or cure cancer on any appreciable scale is probably still some distance away.

I have worried because I used to feel so fatigued after hot baths and using my Jacuzzi (which I no longer have) that I would need to lie down. I also sweat so profusely that I had to take a shower afterward. I have worried that I am interfering with my internal thermostat because my doctor informed me that my temperature is consistently about a degree low (below 98.6). He attributes it to an overactive thyroid and prescribed a medication. One of the symptoms is unusual sensitivity to cold. I try to avoid getting the water so hot now or staying in the Jacuzzi at my apartment complex for too long. I am confident that I have enjoyed all the other benefits of the hot baths and Jacuzzis, however.
