A whistleblower alleges that Jane Roberts, wife of Chief Justice John Roberts, has made over $10 million recruiting for elite law firms, .... Two immunity cases still pending. The only way to get a justice to respond is for a party, i.e. DOJ, to file emergency motions to recuse accompanied by affidavits -- testimony from potential witness that invoke bias. https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000186-0e0c-df27-abcf-8f6da8b00000

Dozens of witnesses to the largesse of Lennie Leo. Other judges, other participants. Same for other alleged corruptors. Harlan Crow. The membership of the Federalist society. The various and sundry law firms populated by lawyers placed by Mrs Roberts who successfully argued SCOTUS cases.

DOJ needs to ask for an immediate hearing as there are criminal aspects involved.

Meanwhile, DOJ can issue subpoenas to witnesses as to alleged bribery and perjury. Leo. Crow. Mrs. Roberts (what does she know about Thomas, Alito, et al and when did she know it?) Eastman. Mrs. Thomas. Mrs Alito. Former law clerks.

As long as Merrick sits there, so long as Biden and the Democrats worship bipartisanship, nothing will change at SCOTUS

As it now stands SOUS is the right hand of the PTB and DOJ the left hand.,and we, well we are the audience in Kabuki theater.or rather,

I've been watching the latest version of Anne Rices, Interview with a Vampire, and the scene at present is in Paris, and in the Théâtre des vampires.

The situation is that the audience is told that everything that they see is real, yet they don't believe it, because the climax of the show is them eating a victim, the curtain falls and the body is kicked into a hole that opens in the stage, and the audience breaks out in applause.

Reality is playing out right before our eyes and we don't get it, because we don't want to, we (liberals) want to believe in the system, in DOJ, like we wanted to believe in Mueller, and now believe in Jack Smith. Smith who has plenty of cause to unseat Aileen Cannon, but like Stonewall Jackson sits there without moving.

Someone close to me felt it necessary to express delighted astonishment at the fact that the guilty verdict caused tfg to receive the largest amount of single day donations in history, predominantly from small donors. When I replied how sad I was about the rejection of the rule of law that entailed, and the embrace of the most despicable creature ever to be POTUS, I received a huge blast back. This person, an excellent appellate lawyer and former judge, told me I had no idea how criminal law worked, how judges were results oriented, and how ai was disrespecting the half of the country supporting tfg. Not knowing I should keep my mouth shut, I responded that I was quite sure SCOTUS would ultimately exonerate him. The response was that I assumed the first levels of appeals courts would affirm, I said they usually did with jury verdicts absent egregious error. Then I was told my assumption about SCOTUS showed my liberal bias, to which I pled guilty. Digging a deeper hole, I reminded this person that another demagogue who had been imprisoned won an election once, a century ago, and was beloved of the wealthy and the working people of his country. And that sixty million people died as a result. My conversationalist was not deterred, responding that tfg was not great, but President Biden was the real demagogue, propounded of hate, racist, etc. I was told that I was just an uninformed, irrational elitist.

The hell I inhabit. Doomed to spend my (hopefully very few) remaining years in a sharp,y divided family, with two right wingers, four from far left to left center (including me), and one too small to be bothered yet, thank heavens. But the conversation deeply troubled me. I have a very hard time living in a country where so many support tfg. Having some people so close to me who do is as near to being in Hell as I ever want to get. That the example of my own life, which I have spent fighting for and in some instances obtaining recognition of the rights of minorities, the dispossessed, the poor, and my own academic and professional accomplishments, should have failed to persuade some in my family about things so obviously true and right to me is the my greatest disappointment and defeat. It is not their fault, and I will love them until I depart. It is the fault of the media, some of the disappointments in their own lives, and the malign influence of other friends of theirs over which I have had no control. I am reduced to once again reflecting on the truth, for me of my favorite Stephen Crane poem, “In the Desert”:

“In the desert, I saw a creature

Naked and bestial.

He held his heart in his hands and ate of it.

‘Is it good, friend”, I asked.

‘It is bitter, bitter,’ he said.

‘But I like it, because it is bitter.

And because it is my heart.”

Continue to keep the faith and fight the fight, Mr. Hartmann. You and others in the Bulwark whom I follow help keep me going and committed to striving for what is good, and decent, and just, and true, until I am relieved of the burdens of my ultimately disappointing life.

You sound like a "sweetheart", Roy. Sorry couldn't help myself after that poem!

You are right that it is not their fault; it's how their brain is wired. You and I were lucky---we're wired to help, and it sounds like you did your share.

Peace be with you, brother. Keep giving that little one what you know, the world will need their help.

Roy: This piece today from HCR really helped me gain some perspective. It’s scary as hell out there, but there is some measure of correction that is reasonably certain to happen. Also, experts question, according to HCR, the $$ of donations, as it cannot be verified. I’m with you. I’m 75 and never thought I’d see the day. I’m a student of history (and literature and have taught both at the university level), so the signs were there all along, but especially in 2015. I’m fortunate to be surrounded by sane liberals in family and friends, but my community is a tough one. I have one Republican judge in my extended family who outright calls Trump a traitor, so there’s that comfort I find in some otherwise charged conversations.

And it's about time Ukraine was unrestrained in defending itself from a truly existential threat - Russia. I am hopeful that President Biden will acknowledge Ukraine's only path to actual victory is through a complete and total gloves off handling of Vladimir Putin.

We need a new reality series, Bad-Ass Housewives of the Supreme Court. These determined women know how to make money---it would sell. Sleazy husbands are always a part of the show.

Senator Durbin is left holding the bag, and people need to understand the vote count in the Senate. When you lose these fights, you look weak, and that's exactly what Roberts is going for. These judges that can't simply recuse when it's called for are the weaklings, and they are not doing their JOB.

It is sickening to see what has become of the Republican Party. I didn't want Trump or the Supreme Court corruption to be the face of them, but it is. We have to laugh to keep from crying.

Just when you think EVERYTHING is broken, along comes a jury with twelve citizens that respected the law. That's beautiful. I do love your Karma conclusion, Thom.

Yep, and being from Reno, I can attest that our GOP has absolutely no problem with running and electing a felon (now). The NVGOP is headed by two false electors, themselves under indictment in the state. I follow them closely; they’re bad actors and will continue to be. As indicted here, they have not only a dog in the fight they have a whole pack of dogs in the fight. They are openly recruiting and sending aggressive poll watchers to every voting place. Don’t forget, NVGOP held its own caucus parallel to the state-mandated primary to place trump unanimously on the ballot. Don’t forget that to be on the caucus slate, the candidate had to pay a pretty chunk of change. That left trump the sole candidate. (I have receipts.)

Concerning Rethugs not wanting to sign up with the UN concerning future pandemics: masks are the least of it. First, the last pandemic (which to their small minds mean ALL pandemics behave that way) ravaged cities first. What an effective means of reducing the ranks of liberals and Democrats! And oh by the way, nothing the UN does can ever be correct, because sh*thole countries and stuff.

Chief Justice John Roberts, upon receiving a letter regarding Justice Samual Alito from senators Dick Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse, turned said letter over to Justice Alito for response. I.e., “FU, senators”. One would hope this might awaken senator Durbin from his somnolent institutionalism and get out of senator Whitehouse’s way. Hope springs eternal, but establishment Dems crush it at every opportunity. Meanwhile, Roberts’ characteristic smirk remains firmly in place.

Thanks, Thom. I have say the Trump and all his garbage on Hillary lock him up. My question would be why does the media think giving Trump the floor all the time with lies is a good thing for America. I must say it is the media stupid. I know Trump is a racist and anybody who hears what comes out of his mouth knows that too. Common sense people, We the People.

Costa Rica is my destination if shit hits the fan. A beautiful country, nice people and Spanish is the easiest language to learn. In 1975 while driving to Panama, I met two gents in an old Mercedes Benz, that were moving to Panama, there is a large ex pat community there, and they congregate. I would not want to I would prefer to live among the people. If you are on Social Security or a government pension you can still receive it, my only concern and question, at my age and condition is quality of health care. Medicare does not cover it, neither do HMO's, or American private insurance.

Seems things are kicking up about SCOTUS and their retrobate behavior, their imperialist mendacity, including pointing out chinks in the walls of their claimed special privileged immunity. I'm wondering just who may be sweating here the most--the SCOTUS tribe or those who have twiddled (Schumer, DOJ, etherially thin Garland, other elected democrats who have come up here-to-fore with zip re possible available action to stop the SCOTUS' insulting transgressions). The stronger the availabilities for possible real action, the increasingly worse optics for the twiddlers. "Where were you, where have you been . . .?"

At the end of the day this is what I believe needs to be emphasized about the possibility of Trump returning to the White House. He will engage in constant destruction and he will have the power to start a nuclear war. He is filled with rage. He is cruel and vindictive. HE is the snake in the snake story he likes to keep telling us. He likes "Hannibal Lector" and "Al Capone." He is constantly on the attack. He is grandiose and delusional ("only I can do it", "I am a stable genius"). He is the only person who can fix everything, but he "is not responsible" when things go wrong. He CANNOT LOSE! Because he cannot lose, he has no capacity to objectively and effectively analyze the pros and cons of any issue. He only focuses on getting what he wants for himself. He has no impulse control. He will stack his cabinet and government institutions (the few that will be left) with lackies who will "be loyal" and do his bidding at all times. He has, at best, a low average IQ. He is incapable of complex thinking. Bottom line, if we elect him again, we will be putting ourselves in a bus that is being driven by a reckless, angry, incompetent man who is centrally bent on destruction.

Dr. Bill, this is the creature that Republicans have chosen to stand-up for or more accurately stand behind. No matter how many pros like you explain it, their pursuit of power "trumps" even their common sense and decency. Frankly, it's shocking.

I appreciate your effort, because the rest of us need to know more than ever that we have not lost our damn minds and our moral compasses.
