Senator Manchin has been acting like a rich insufferable prick. Senator Sinema went from way left to the center right, far enough right to essentially say people are not worthy of a living wage. It seems to me they have become a faction....one that is in love with their own power over the lives of some very hard working people. You can tell a lot about how someone's character by how they wield their power.

What is the Republican Party doing? Mitt Romney booed at Republican Conference. If I remember right, he was nominated to run for President as a Republican.

Thom, thanks for resurrecting the concept of Madisonian “factions” in yet another of your impressive rants. I believe factions make a perfect and very useful label for those who do things adverse to our rights and communities’ interests. Using “faction” to describe the bad guys is a great idea for a few reasons. First, because of the descriptive qualifiers that Madison so brilliantly ascribed to factions, we can easily distinguish between plain old special interests that don’t do things adverse to our rights and communities’ interests (like unions and teachers), and the bad special interests that do at the expense of our general welfare. Second, it is a truly “originalist” idea that we can all read about and understand because it is simple. Third, with a handy term like “faction” in our lexicon it should be easier to identify and therefore protect us from the big factions who are the root cause of all the badness in our world (like money, war, carbon, etc), As discussed on your Zoom call today, framing the struggle for control of our government as being one of our citizens vs. factions (instead of progressive vs. conservative, Republican vs. Democrat, etc.) might prove a useful strategy when it comes to having our government meet its purpose.

What have the Politicians done for West Virginia? It is just about last in everything. Poverty is rampant in WV while Joe roughs it in DC on his $700000 party yacht.
