To facilitate their ends, they have used their millions to take over the Republican party which is now nothing more then the legislative arm of the 1%. Thus, the Supreme Court rulings which have so corrupted our politics are not the root cause of our problems. These rulings are the inevitable result of our wealthy overlords' corruption of our political system in a vein desperation to hang onto their illicit usurpation of wealth, power, and control. However, we can choose not to despair which only makes us more vulnerable to control. We can know that the necessity of facing and meeting this challenge now does make possible an American Revolution 2.0 where wealth is not allowed to run rough shod over our "more perfect union, our justice, our domestic tranquility, our common defense, and the blessings of liberty for all." I am very glad to be living in Costa Rica. The military was abolished in 1948 and the money saved was put into health care and education. People are relaxed and there is little infighting. You can write voter reminder postcards to registered but inconsistently voting Dems. American Revolution - Take 2: Democratic Dictator for a Day
July 4th: What is Left to Celebrate
This week, Monday, the Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 that a sitting President is Above the Law - a Dictator accountable to no one. They interrupt our celebration of Independence Day to assert that The American Revolution was pointless, that the Constitution produced and ratified thereafter; that was Amended in the Bill of Rights, in the blood of Civil War, in protests for women's suffrage and civil rights. They interrupt to tell us, after 237 years, they just noticed that the Constitution makes the President a Dictator.
The liberal media has responded by loudly repeating fruitless demands for enforceable ethics, recusal, term limits, and Court packing - none of which touch upon the earth shattering criminality of that ruling. AOC in pledging to file Articles of Impeachment is the only member of Congress asserting that criminality. That Impeachment is of course doomed as Trump has used the interregnum to purge the Congress of Republicans that fail to swear fealty to him.
A number of people have noted that the timing of Trump v United States means that Biden now has said dictatorial powers. The Court appparently sees no danger in this - even though Justice Sotomayor noted in Dissent that the President could send Seal Team 6 in to assassinate, for instance, Supreme Court Justices. Happily Biden would never do anything like that. (I'd be happier still if he had like concern for infants, and people generally, in Gaza, Lebenon, Yemen . . .)
The Constitution of course is not at fault. Support for this dictator malarkey is found only in the facially Unconstitutional Precedents of the Supreme Court. The doctrine of 'stare decisis', the honoring Precedents, creates Precedent threads; each a metastasizing cancer. Three examples:

Last week the insane 6 overturned Chevron Deference giving judges oversight of environmental regulations, public health measures, worker and consumer protections. 2) By 1976 Valeo, 1978 Belotti, 2010 Citizens United, 2016 McDonnell - impeachable bribery became 'political speech'. Last week the insane 6 ruled, Snyder v US, that Public Officials can take bribes for putting the briber's interest before the public interest. The only rule in Bribery: You don't talk about Bribery.
3) Qualified Immunity of police et.al. was introduced in 1967. And grew this week into Presidential Dictatorship.
How is it that we failed to reverse these atrocities? The Declaration of Independence speaks eloquently to this: "experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government"
President Biden could by "official acts" throw off such Government. It is his duty. The Insurrection Act, U.S. Code Title 10, Section 253, Part 2 authorizes the president to use the military against any two (or more) people conspiring to break federal law. Judges overwriting the Constitution by foul Precedents are in Insurrection and in violation of their sworn oath to uphold the Constitution. They are literally breaking the law. Said Precedents must be eliminated and Judicial Review hereafter limited to compliance with the amended Constitution. Note in this regard that in the 1827 case Martin v. Mott, the Court ruled that "the authority to decide whether [an exigency requiring the militia to be called out] has arisen belongs exclusively to the President, and . . . his decision is conclusive upon all other persons."
Note further that the elimination of actual bribery begs the question of how to fund elections. The most democratic funding, giving each voter equal input, would be that each voter be given as $200 debit card that can be used only to fund qualified Federal candidates; with candidates prohibited from taking aught else (self-funding not allowed).
The danger of a Trump dictatorship is eliminated. Both Parties will seek to win the support of actual people - and each will be better for it. For the Parties are actually the people - long stuck on the horns of the lesser of 2 evils dilemma.
If Biden takes up the gauntlet above, he will be an American hero

The choice the electorate has to make in November couldn’t be clearer: the continuation of democracy in the USA or the birth of fascism and the rebirth of the Confederacy. Every fascist in America should be rejoicing that the fucking MAGA Court has legalized treason.
One of the gravest mistakes Americans have made is failing to comprehend that Trump is just a tool. His audacious ego has impressed many Americans, and that put him in the throne, but he is a king whose rein will continue only at the behest of the real power-brokers. It is quite conceivable that his ego, especially now given fresh feed, will grow (ego, like greed, needs to expand inconsiderate of limitations) beyond his own good sense. If and when, it will be Trump on Fifth Avenue, also supplied with a Oswald decoy.
This is why America needs the Dem Party to do a voter based campaign of 3 or 4 economic issues that get low information Dem voters to the polls after checking their registration along with abortion rights and Mudsill that the GOP wants over half of American's to live in poverty. Only a voter base strategy can get the needed voters by exciting them with issues they want.

I know that I saw an interview of him, by whom I can't say, in which he says in a very reasonable tone that we have people in place all over the country, both locally & in high places, places you wouldn't believe, & we're going to take over & basically said don't worry. I believe he was asked prior to his statement do you have anything to say to your followers. This was after 1/6/21 & I remember him being in his black overcoat. I must have seen it on 'X'. I don't think this part was shown on TV or even reported AFAIK. This movement is strongly rooted in extremist Catholicism. There are a lot of Catholics working everywhere who probably support this.
OLIGARCHY is definitely the primary economic system. It could be called a monopoly capitalist system, but many of the elements of capitalism have been stymied by the oligarchs. But our socio-economic-political system has taken on several other characteristics as well. It is also a PLUTOCRACY, as most critical decisions are made either by or for the morbidly wealthy oligarchs. It is an ARISTOCRACY, as many if not most super-wealth profiles have actually been inherited, with inheritance taxes almost non-existent. I also consider it a KLEPTOCRACY, as much of the wealth of the uber-riche was stolen from the middle class by tax avoidance and cheating, bribery, extortion, and con artistry. It has many characteristics of a KAKISTOCRACY, with the insane, unworkable, and damaging policies adopted by MAGA and the SCOTUS. And you could say it is an IDIOCRACY, given the ridiculous way government operates today.

Trump gave tax cuts to the rich. Why is this not stressed, repeated, and shoved down people's throats the way that Trump bellows constantly about immigration? Even low information voters can understand this.

We can't solve the disease unless we understand its cause, and Thom daily helps us do that, but I think we need to dig deeper to fully appreciate the workings of what is at root.. In the kind of unmanaged capitalism that we now have, IT IS IN THE NATURE OF WEALTH TO NATUALLY ACREW INTO FEWER AND FEWER HANDS. This is what has been allowed to transpire unabated for the last 60 years. As some business entities succeed and some fail due to competition, the successful ones acquire not only added wealth, but also added power to control the marketplace and therefore a competitive edge which allows them the ability to gain more wealth which has the effect of eventually defeating the free market. Thus, a completely free market defeats itself. It is the government's role, therefore, to manage capitalism so that wealth is recirculated back to all sectors of the society and free competition prevails. Thus, the root cause of our dysfunction is wealth inequality. It is causing so much social distress, suffering, and imbalance and so much need for change that the obscenely rich know that the only way they can maintain power is to force their system down our throats through fascism. To facilitate their ends, they have used their millions to take over the Republican party which is now nothing more then the legislative arm of the 1%. Thus, the Supreme Court rulings which have so corrupted our politics are not the root cause of our problems. These rulings are the inevitable result of our wealthy overlords' corruption of our political system in a vein desperation to hang onto their illicit usurpation of wealth, power, and control. However, we can choose not to despair which only makes us more vulnerable to control. We can know that the necessity of facing and meeting this challenge now does make possible an American Revolution 2.0 where wealth is not allowed to run rough shod over our "more perfect union, our justice, our domestic tranquility, our common defense, and the blessings of liberty for all." It must be remembered that power never concedes without a fight. Come on, Americans. I believe in you. Stay unified and non violent, and we will show them who really holds the power this country.
I don't know what to do anymore. I am at the border of despair for our country. I feel like I want to pack up, leave the country and spit back across the border once I cross it, but to where? Once we fall, how long before the whole world is fascist except maybe Switzerland, which seems to be one of a very few countries where people understand what real citizenship means?
I am very glad to be living in Costa Rica. The military was abolished in 1948 and the money saved was put into health care and education. People are relaxed and there is little infighting. It is unbelievable to watch the greatest country on earth being flushed down the toilet. Time to take off the gloves, republicans have no interest in fighting fair.
Glad you like it too; I still think of joining you down there now and again. I've known for decades that GOP does not fight fair nor do they want to! I've been saying for DECADES that it's time to remove the gloves; now it's past time. And no one that I know about listened to me. I may be a pale male, but without the green stuff one's skin color matters relatively little.
The only hope I see is if one or both of the current candidates goes to his eternal reward before the election. At least the faux orange felon. Please don't despair when you can be doing something/anything to fight back! Find your local/county Democrat organization and volunteer to help inform and register voters, assist them in getting vote by mail ballots, remind them to check their registrations, etc.

You can write voter reminder postcards to registered but inconsistently voting Dems. It's easy to do in your spare time between now and October 24 mailing date, and you will know you are making a difference.

Regarding Kevin Roberts' comment on Real America's Voice: "...we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be." American Revolution - Take 2: Democratic Dictator for a Day
July 4th: What is Left to Celebrate
This week, Monday, the Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 that a sitting President is Above the Law - a Dictator accountable to no one. They interrupt our celebration of Independence Day to assert that The American Revolution was pointless, that the Constitution produced and ratified thereafter; that was Amended in the Bill of Rights, in the blood of Civil War, in protests for women's suffrage and civil rights. They interrupt to tell us, after 237 years, they just noticed that the Constitution makes the President a Dictator.
The liberal media has responded by loudly repeating fruitless demands for enforceable ethics, recusal, term limits, and Court packing - none of which touch upon the earth shattering criminality of that ruling. AOC in pledging to file Articles of Impeachment is the only member of Congress asserting that criminality. That Impeachment is of course doomed as Trump has used the interregnum to purge the Congress of Republicans that fail to swear fealty to him.
A number of people have noted that the timing of Trump v United States means that Biden now has said dictatorial powers. The Court appparently sees no danger in this - even though Justice Sotomayor noted in Dissent that the President could send Seal Team 6 in to assassinate, for instance, Supreme Court Justices. Happily Biden would never do anything like that. (I'd be happier still if he had like concern for infants, and people generally, in Gaza, Lebenon, Yemen . . .)
The Constitution of course is not at fault. Support for this dictator malarkey is found only in the facially Unconstitutional Precedents of the Supreme Court. The doctrine of 'stare decisis', the honoring Precedents, creates Precedent threads; each a metastasizing cancer. Three examples:
1) By forgery and lies corporations came to be 'people' and the word 'person' in 14A used to create corporate rights. Last week the insane 6 overturned Chevron Deference giving judges oversight of environmental regulations, public health measures, worker and consumer protections. Billions of dollars of absolutely legal bribery can be expected.
2) By 1976 Valeo, 1978 Belotti, 2010 Citizens United, 2016 McDonnell - impeachable bribery became 'political speech'. Last week the insane 6 ruled, Snyder v US, that Public Officials can take bribes for putting the briber's interest before the public interest. The only rule in Bribery: You don't talk about Bribery.
3) Qualified Immunity of police et.al. was introduced in 1967. And grew this week into Presidential Dictatorship.
How is it that we failed to reverse these atrocities? The Declaration of Independence speaks eloquently to this: "experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government"
President Biden could by "official acts" throw off such Government. It is his duty. The Insurrection Act, U.S. Code Title 10, Section 253, Part 2 authorizes the president to use the military against any two (or more) people conspiring to break federal law. Judges overwriting the Constitution by foul Precedents are in Insurrection and in violation of their sworn oath to uphold the Constitution. They are literally breaking the law. Said Precedents must be eliminated and Judicial Review hereafter limited to compliance with the amended Constitution. Note in this regard that in the 1827 case Martin v. Mott, the Court ruled that "the authority to decide whether [an exigency requiring the militia to be called out] has arisen belongs exclusively to the President, and . . . his decision is conclusive upon all other persons."
Note further that the elimination of actual bribery begs the question of how to fund elections. The most democratic funding, giving each voter equal input, would be that each voter be given as $200 debit card that can be used only to fund qualified Federal candidates; with candidates prohibited from taking aught else (self-funding not allowed).
The danger of a Trump dictatorship is eliminated. Both Parties will seek to win the support of actual people - and each will be better for it. For the Parties are actually the people - long stuck on the horns of the lesser of 2 evils dilemma.
If Biden takes up the gauntlet above, he will be an American hero

Thom, today's Report scares me as no other thing I've read. Kevin Roberts confirmed my long time fear the battle for democracy and America will end in civil unrest, i.e. another American Revolution. The Democratic Party leadership is useless at this point in time. Schumer, Durbin even Pelosi and others have learned how to read a speech, wring their hands and do NOTHING! And, we the people are paying the price for their inactions.
Where is the media - both print and TV - on reporting Robert's threat? Instead of reporting on this speech and its implied threat to violence across America the media is obsessed with Biden's age and his "bad debate". Nothing much reported/discussed about the upheaval that will follow the SCOTUS decisions after Monday. The corporate owned American media is complicit in the threats to our democracy, to our election and to our country.
The main stream media + oligarchs + far-right, religious fanatics + Project 2025 = the biggest threat to our democracy our country has ever seen.
