That every media outlet print or internet, every journalist, every reporter, every pundit, every politician in the nation isn't denouncing this demented, emotionally stunted, interiority complex hampered, narcissist is telling. It tells us just how much trouble we as a nation are in.

Even MSNOW who will tsk, tsk about his behaviors, will not call him out for what he is

All the psychological conditions you mentioned about trump are true and we call see them. Our mass media would do the country a service by having psychiatrists and psychologists discuss them openly. Narcissistic collapse would be a interesting topic.

Here is what I think of the media, and many politicians they are either cowards, complicit or compromised. The Three C's.

Paul Krugman did a good job of pointing out that Trump has a mental illness in a video yesterday.

Richard Kiefer's avatar

Trump has always had a mental illness, and it is more openly expressed now because in his first term he wasn't sure that all of his illegal, unconstitutional acts would be supported by his supporters, Republican Congress and Judiciary. Now he knows, and we all know, that there are no legal resolutions to his (and the Republicans') complete destruction of democracy in this nation.

The MSM companies have been bought by MAGAs.

William Farrar's avatar

MAGA is the Joe six pack Morons, Auto Dealers, Bob the Builder, they don't have the money to buy the MSM.

Rather the MSM is bought and under control o f the likes of Larry Fink, Larry and David Ellison, Jeff Bezo's, Robert Igar, Brian Roberts, Musk, but the real power today is the internet and information and for that we have Musk, Sacks, Altman, Cook,Zueckerberg

MAGA is a tool,, an army of dunces and tools, wielded by the afore mentioned.

On the bright side, at least public opinion poles continue to show his descent into an abyss of voter contempt and disgust.

In that small crowd that will inevitably gather to cheer on their demented king will be a collection of the most seriously defective individuals in the country. They won't be celebrating the 250th birthday of the Declaration of Independence; they will be glorifying the emergent oligarchy that will rescue them from the satanic clutches of a multicultural democracy. AKA "Klan rally".

When you think bout it, when have we ever had a Republican president who wanted to govern rather than rule like a monarch? They always ran up deficits in contrast to at least some Democrats. Deficits mean that you spent more money than the people wanted you to. Trump is so clueless that he does not even know what governing is. He sees subordinates as mere sycophants whose purpose is mainly to project his power over the masses, not to ensure the government provides the services it is supposed to under the constitution and laws of the land. Well, at least Trump is making it easier to pay the next kidnapping ransom by fitting bills with his picture on them in a single briefcase instead of 2 suitcases. What a convenience.

This is quoted from "The Chris Hedges Report" for today entitled "Tyranny or Revolution" echoing Thom's writing on neoliberalism:

"The ruling class justifies its pillage with the ideology of neoliberalism. Neoliberalism, as David Harvey points out, “had limited effectiveness as an engine for economic growth” but is successful as “a project to restore class dominance.” It transfers wealth upwards. It consolidates power in the hands of the billionaire class. It is an updated version of the divine right of kings."

Will we just allow for a degree of accommodation and sacrifice of those at the margins? Or will we force real and significant change to strip the unmanageable capitalists of their brutal and oppressive power to restore democracy as our form of government?

Gloria J. Maloney's avatar

"It is an updated version of the divine right of kings." Yes, it is.

If you have a chance to read Chris Hedges' article, I recommend it. He seems to have gone through some changes, but he has a good grasp on what we are dealing with now. His book, "War is a Force that Gives us Meaning" (2002) made a deep impression on me when I first read it.

All anyone remembers of TRump's military parade is that creaky tank and service members ambling by the half-empty viewing stands. Expect the same disastrous result. DJT will probably fall asleep in the middle of his own speech that no one will listen to.

D is not just for Donold---it's for debased, dreary, and dumb with a "B" on the end. America knows how to party, if it knows anything at all---make your own memories. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Thom and Company. See you at the party in the streets.

Do you remember "They're coming to take me away?" Seems apropos...

Just a matter of time....

Thanks for the chuckle, Robot.

Do you remember Martha and the Vandellas, "Dancing in the Street"?

Trump must pay for all the damage.

A fav for sure. "Gloria" is a good one too!

The older version, I think, was "The Shadows of Night."

"For the wages of sin is death" is a famous Christian scripture found in the Bible at Romans 6:23. It means that the natural consequence, or "payment," of human sin is spiritual separation from God (death), but the verse concludes with hope: "...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

For "sin" substitute "hatred."

For "death" substitute "tyranny."

To wit: "For the wages of hatred is (sic) tyranny."

"...but the gift of democracy is eternal life for the "Declaration of Independence."

Hopefully this will turn into the same kind of response as his big parade.

What a great picture Louise created! That's hard to do. I tried to generate an image for my article about Trump targeting the National Park Service, so I asked to create a picture of a bear fishing in a stream in a natural landscape. It generated a picture of a bear sitting on the bank of a stream with a fishing pole. Of course, I meant fishing with its claws standing in the water.

Another great article that I look forward to every day. Trump destroys everything he touches or goes near.

WE the People Should Never Forget

There are so many partisan destructive changes happening in the federal government with agencies diminished or outright eliminated particularly around voter protection that it will be a tall order for the Democrats to scale up to correct the damage that has been done to our government So a long list of restoration policies needs to done so that when figuratively the guillotine comes for Cheeto responsible government for WE the People can be restored

The handwriting is on the wall The Project 2025 experiment has failed much like Reagan’s bogus “trickle down economics” policy meant as wealthy tax breaks failed to solve the economic woes of the 1980’s, WE the People by polling are showing our animus to the Nazi Republican policies Now Nazi Peter Theil whose father was a South African apartheid Nazi supporter during WWII has fled to Argentina seeking political asylum just like thousands of his Nazi WWII counterparts, such as Eichmann and Mengele(“Angel of Death”), hoping Millei will give him protection if things go wonky

Voter memory is often short when it comes to the misery and turbulence that the destructive CNPP(Christian Nationalist Pedo Party) has wrought on WE the People and our government No Nazi Republican should be elected to public office for the next 20y Their greed to make our country a dictatorship of oligarchs should, like the Nazis in the 1940’s, never ever be forgotten, seared into the national memory

If Trump’s desecration of DC isn’t a metaphor for this administration I don’t know what is. One almost hopes an IndyCar jumps the track and knocks out the Washington Monument so the truth might be grasped by the 38% on whom it remains lost. Re-stacked.
