Unfortunately my younger sister and her two QAnon-influenced daughters are not planning to get the vaccine. I suspect they will become a statistic like many of that ilk. Recently Katelyn wrote how percentage-wise the unvaccinated are getting sick and dying at the same rate as we all were before any of us were vaxxed. The Delta variant was increasing this percentage. Then there is the emerging Gamma variant which has a 16% breakthrough infection rate. Also, in communities where the unvaxxed are largely surrounded by the vaxxed such as in Marin (90% vaxxed), its true that the breakouts are less likely to go anywhere although they do seek out everyone who hasn;t received the vaccine.
In Red States where the vax rate is low, the infections continue and spread just as before. The Trumpers are fooling themselves thinking that since many of us have been vaxxed, there is no need for them to that they are protected by herd immunity. The only herd immunity that will happen is when we achieve a 100% vaccination rate. Unfortunately, many of these Trumpers will get sick and a number of them will die.
The question I have - is will these Covid-killed Republicans be purged from the voting lists in Georgia? I doubt it.
