Republicans have always felt more comfortable with authoritarian methods--police, military, force, punishment--because these transmogrify their fear into an empowering hate. We can't accommodate them; it only enables them. They must be opposed vigorously, and I'm afraid the Democrats in charge of the party don't understand that.

I support shared government. Our national sovereignty has been lost. We lost the cold war. Patriotic Americans of all stripes should oppose that.
