Speaking of right-wing Republican lies; Has Trump’s insistence on pardoning the Jan. 6th terrorists left you baffled? It’s just a redux of the old “devil made me do it” illusion used by young children and irrational right-wing fanatics. The idea is to play up the suggestion that everyone at the rally and at the Capitol was there innocently and peacefully expressing their First Amendment rights to “free speech” when they were provoked by mean realists who refused to comply with their wishes. Was it their fault that no one accepted the big lie that the 2020 election was rigged and stolen from the ‘dear leader’? NO! If judges and Democrats and others had just gone along with the program and stopped the counting of the vote as Trump had demanded, there would have been no need for their violent attack.

This sort of magical thinking has characterized the right for eons and is one of their favorites. It wasn’t their fault they had to injure 140+ police officers and get several people killed while trying to kill the Vice President and Speaker of the House. The devil and circumstances made them do it, and anyway, why can’t everybody just get over it? You people and your laws and reality are just disgusting. How do you not see the greatness before you on full display?

When they lie first to themselves and suspend disbelief, they create a whole new reality. The general public, unfortunately, share these same tendencies to a great extent. Good luck making them aware of the problem.
