FCC Chairman Carr, wearing a gold pin of Donald Trump’s head that eerily resembles an old Mao pin I bought in Beijing in 1988, went after Jimmy Kimmel again just hours before he was back on the air last night. He also mentioned station licenses again, in what seems like a thinly-veiled threat, when he

Thom writes two additional Substack newsletters, each published once a week.

I vacillate between corruption ( money and power) and a mafia-like injection of fear for one’s life/family. Initially I was unable to accept anyone rising to the highest office would threaten w violence. Even Nixon just used bribes and loyalty and as we saw, if not for the bold GOP Senators, it was going to be a messy impeachment and of course it was a pleasure to see those staff members and the AG go to jail under a GOP administration ( Ford). But this is different. Lindsey is running scared and I don’t think it’s fear of being outed. I don’t understand Cornyn ( a former judge) and Grassley ( not enough time left to reclaim his dignity, and that goes for McConnell, despite his resent ability in finding part of his backbone).
I think about the adage, “ nobody gets out alive”. I’ve tried to live w/o making ethical compromises bec I have to live w myself until that end.
