Taking down a statue of a Confederate general is not erasing history. Statues are for our heroes, not the racists and terrorists of our past. We acknowledge their existence in our history, but we don't honor them. What the White supremacists of today are doing is specifically disappearing women and minorities from our history because they can't stand women and minorities. Once again, they accuse us of what they are guilty of.

I'd add that ignorance is no defense. Neither is inconvenience. Whether good, bad, or ugly, we all know by now where we stand - and why.
