Ilived in a small Louisiana town for 9 months in1956. The town just finished building the all white High School, the old four story school was declared unfit,but years later itr was being used to house seniors.
Tne town had built Abraham Lincoln High, well before the built the all white high school, it was actually a decent facility.There were two HS football teams. Abraham Lincoln was rated AAA state wide,where the white team didn't get on the board. Needless to say the good white folk of the town were all behind and supportive of Abraham Lincoln. Oh they were still racist,but everyone likes a winner, no one a loser.
