Yes, we could have all these nice, necessary things, and it certainly will not suppress the wealthy in any way. According to Germany's DW news: " Wealth is distributed very unevenly: The richest half of the population has 99.5% of the assets." Around 3.8% of the population has very high net wealth, which means they own more than half a million euros, usually in real estate, financial investments, or business assets.....".--May 12, 2021
Another news agency, "The Local de", wrote on June 10, 2021 that there are 60,000 ultra-rich in the world. The USA has 20,600, China has 7800, and Germany is 3rd with 2900. Chancellor Merkel was an honorable leader, and she CHOSE not to run again. I would never want to see the same leader for 16 years. But, maybe wealth disparity is the conservative aspect Germany needs to work-on, just like us.
Bumper-sticker labels like conservative vs liberal, right vs left, red vs blue, etc. are overly broad but useful terms for discussing politics in the abstract within a lexicon of agreed-upon meanings. But as Thom's meticulous research points out, a label not undergirded by tangible reality is completely meaningless or, all too often, is deliberately slanted to mean something entirely different than originally intended. Ditto for economics -- socialism and capitalism can coexist in harmony by staying within their proper lanes while complimenting each other for the benefit of everyone, labels be damned!
It's called "being civilized." Not a hard concept. Unless you are a lying, selfish, greedy, hypocritical, brainwashed, authoritarian, white-nationalist racist and religious-whacko wingnut, bringing fascism to Meerkkka "wrapped in a flag and carrying a bible" (upside down). See? Labels can be appropriate when they describe the truth.
Our media flows through clogged arteries. We need a bypass - stat. The organism that is humanity is losing consciousness in more ways than one.

East Germany was Republican.
This is a great list. Excellent report. It is just too bad that half the country prefers the Russian system to the German system.
