Welcome to Thom Hartmann’s Well-Read Troublemakers Book Club
The Book Club is one of the perks of your paid subscription to the Hartmann Report.
We’ll be meeting live on the last Sunday of every month at noon ET, 9 am PT. One book a month.
Some months will be my books, and on others I’ll try to bring the author on, and you’ll get to talk directly with them. Some months we’ll take on something written 50 or 150 years ago; other times, brand-new releases; and every book we discuss will have one thing in common: it made somebody powerful uncomfortable.
AUGUST’S BOOK:
Our first book is my most recent one, Who Killed the American Dream? The Greatest Political Crime Ever Told, which came out July 7th. We’ll meet to discuss it live at noon ET/9am PT, on Sunday, August 30th. Details of how to join will come to your email ahead of time. Start discovering the book here.
Get the book however you like. Your free local library probably has it or can order it, and your local independent bookstore will happily order it. Or use Powells.com, my local bookstore here in Portland, which is a real gem, unionized, and has a huge inventory (it’s literally an entire city block and four stories high, all filled with books!).
How the Book Club Works
At the start of each month, we’ll start with a fresh book.
Each Sunday, there will be a post from Thom, reviewing parts of the book and asking what you think.

The Live Sessions
On the last Sunday of each month, Thom will host a live online meeting at 9am PT, where we’ll discuss the book and you can join in and ask questions.
During the live session, you’ll be able to join-in to share your thoughts about the book of the month. Chat will be open and if you have a specific point to make, Thom may invite you onto the live video.
An invitation link with instructions on how to join will be sent to your email in advance, which is open to paid subscribers.
Making Comments
Let’s all share opinions about the books. What did you like? What didn’t hit the mark?
By all means, politely disagree with other people’s opinions, but no personal attacks are allowed.
Saying this, “I disagree with that, and here is why” is fine.
Whereas “You are an idiot to say that, and this is what you must believe” is not acceptable.
