I follow the Denver Broncos football team. About my only sports following. This is Rumor (off) season. Most everybody wonders about what they are going to do about their (lack of) Quarterback situation. Most of the available QB's have been signed by other teams. Rumor has it that the Broncos were waiting to deal for Houston's Deshaun Watson. This would probably cost the National Debt but he is a good QB. This morning headlines are that he is being sued for sexual assault. That will save the Bronco's a lot of money because they do not dare deal for him now. If history is any indication, one law suit and more will come.

The situation with Cuomo is all too typical. We are approaching 50 years of the sexual harassment "enlightenment". Guess the Gov did not get the memo throughout his whole life. Years ago my HR job involved educating all new employees about this subject. Corporations take it very seriously, because when they neglect to take care of it, the court cases involved are costly. Cuomo is going to cost NY a pretty penny. He may be paying out of pocket as well he should. After these women escaped the situation, he probably never gave them another thought. They on the other hand will always be trying to push him out of their thoughts and no amount of money will change that.

I read that the first cases of harassment often involved women of color. Also, Title IX was used on a basis of unequal treatment. Fitting, I must say, because it simply is a human rights issue. Also, the time has come to fight the legal battle for LGBTQ rights. I love the term gender chaos; it reminds me how uncomfortable new things can be, but we should learn to include everyone. The work will not be done till public safety is a concept that is all inclusive. What a lot of work we have to do worldwide!

I have billionaire fatigue and so does our economy. Time to take care of that. It all leads back to human rights and exploitation. "Behind every great fortune lies a great crime."-Honore de Balzac

Here in England a woman walking home alone at night recently was killed, allegedly, by a Metropolitan police officer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Sarah_Everard

Women wanted to hold a peaceful vigil in her memory. The Metropolitan Police blocked it on coronavirus grounds.

Many women turned up anyway, and the Metropolitan Police corralled them, making social distancing impossible, and manhandled them. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/03/14/uk/sarah-everard-vigil-police-response-gbr-intl/index.html

People have contrasted it with how some anti-mask protests have been handled.

The Metropolitan Police were told to protect the statue of Churchill at all costs - an action which itself drew protests.

Meanwhile MPs are debating an anti-protest policing bill.

"Wealth has its privilege" has been a mantra of American capitalism since it replaced "royal birthright has its privilege". Of course racial, male, and native-born American birthright privileges are under attack as violations of human rights, rightfully so, but still have strongholds in the segregationist and certain religious and ultra-patriotic sectors of our society.

Has the American dream for success is framed in the ability (freedom?) to earn enough to have "F U money"?

Is it a human right to apportion the tax burden on that segment of society most able to financially benefit from the governance of that society.

Here's another example of how society fails women here in the UK...

A second sexual harassment lawsuit was filed against Deshaun Watson. More to follow?

Those videos are both disturbing and inspiring -- disturbing that authorities are presenting such fundamental cowardice by resorting to heavy-handed policing tactics in response to largely peaceful protests; inspiring that so many brave women and those supporting the cause of basic human rights flooded into the streets anyway to demand fair play, justice, and systemic reform of obstinate institutions and reactionary attitudes. All the while a family is mourning their terrible loss. Why do those in love with power and wealth not see how weak and poor they are in spirit?

I remember the first time I seriously crossed paths with one. I was in a group training to be systems analysts, and at the end of the course we had to come up with a solution to a problem and give a presentation on it to our potential new bosses. One guy totally forgot our solution and made up and absolute load of bull. He was so pleased with himself for giving a glib presentation, I was horrified that he made us look like idiots, so none of the bosses there would want us to work in their department. If it had been real life we could have lost a customer there and then or when the 'solution' failed. Yet often it is those with the gift of the gab who are promoted, not those who can actually do the job. As a society we need to change that.

America just suffered through a four-year nightmare because of a guy exactly like that times a thousand.

You can't miss what you don't have. There are those who go through life trampling on others, oblivious to the damage they do both to individuals and the organizations for which they work, so shallow they think the veneer of success is the real thing. Real successful people are states-people and those who get the best from those who work for them
